inflation.us Prepare for the Economic Collapse! George talks with a recent college grad experiencing shock and awe with regards to the current job climate. College students spend great time, energy and financial resources in the pursuit of a degree. Many are hitting a brick wall in seeking good paying work. Many are taking minimum wage jobs, or leaving the country to teach english. It seem that America will soon face a massive "brain drain" in reverse, where our best and brightest young people choose to pursue work overseas. A very sad ending to the story of a first world power. ELECTIONS Millions to Lose Jobless Benefits by Year's End While hundreds of House members and dozens of senators hit the campaign trail in a fight to save their jobs with help from President Obama, more than 2 million out-of-work Americans are faced with dropping into unemployment obscurity by the end of the year. www.foxnews.com Though Congress last month passed a jobless benefits extension, the boost only lasts until Nov. 30 -- that means a backlog of recipients will drop off those benefits all at once come December. Between the end of August and the end of the calendar year, approximately 2.37 million Americans will stop getting unemployment checks, according to Labor Department statistics. With laid-off investment bankers snapping up jobs in retail and MBAs barely worth the paper they're printed on, college seniors are approaching graduation day with a mixture of dread and resignation. www ...

According to the US Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are nearly 31 million people currently unemployed -- that's including those involuntarily working parttime and those who want a job, but have given up on trying to find one. In the face of the worst economic upheaval since the Great Depression, millions of Americans are hurting. "The Decline: The Geography of a Recession," as created by labor writer LaToya Egwuekwe, serves as a vivid representation of just how much. Watch the deteriorating transformation of the US economy from January 2007 -- approximately one year before the start of the recession -- to the most recent unemployment data available today. Forget the American dream. If you want to make money in a foreign country, the place to go is Russia, which a new survey found to be home to the "wealthiest expats in the world." A third of all expats in Russia â the highest proportion in the world â make more than $250000 per year, with almost half reporting an income of $200000 per year or more, according to a survey commissioned by HSBC Bank International. A new migrant law designed to make life in Russia easier for expat specialists has been put into force. The new regulation exempts highly-skilled workers with a yearly income of more than $66000 from migrant quotas, orders migration agencies to finish all paperwork for such workers within 2 weeks, simplifies immigration procedures for specialists' family members, grants work permits up to 3 years at once, and eases procedures for obtaining citizenship. This comes as part of the state's initiative to attract more foreign talent to the country. "The migration of highly-skilled workers is the priority in the new law on migration. This law is the basis for the future of Russian policy toward migrants as a whole. Russia is increasingly becoming dependent on its migrant workforce, primarily because of the demographic gap. "The changes will first and foremost simplify life of employers. They won't have to deal with quotas," lawyer Evgeny Reizman from Baker & McKenzie, an international law firm, told RT. According to the international network of job hunting websites The ...
Prospects look grim for the nation's 15 million unemployed, according to a recent jobs report from the Labor Department. Yet lawmakers in Washington, gripped by deficit fears, haven't found the votes for even a modest stimulus package. In the current issue of the Washington Monthly, Jamie Merisotis and Stan Jones offer a plan to assist the unemployed without breaking the federal bank: help them earn one and two-year college credentials, fast. Most of the new jobs being created (slowly but surely) in this recovery require skills most unemployed Americans don't have. Yet the schools where they might get training are not up to the task. Community colleges are inexpensive but not designed to deliver credentials quickly. For-profit colleges provide quick degrees but cost a bundle and often offer subpar training. What the unemployed really need are colleges that combine the low-cost and public mission of community colleges with the job-focused curriculum of the best for-profits. Fortunately, there is a model public college system already up and running that does precisely that, with stunningly successful results. That model could be spread nationwide in a matter of months, not years, with an investment of federal money that is already in the budget. www.newamerica.net
Apples announcement is happening right now, Steve Jobs has just walked out on stage and we are watching and waiting for the tentative announcement of the fourth generation iphone. But as we wait for the company to release it's latest developments, it also important to remember the recent news for Apple that Steve Jobs may not highlight in his keynote on stage today. Apple has recently been facing some controversy. Of course there was Apple's sparring with Adobe over Flash usage. As well as assertions that Apple exerts too much control over it's own App Store. And Apple's run in with the Gizmodo blog, including the involvement of law enforcement concerning the possibly stolen iPhone prototype. Gizmodo posted images and alleged specs of the new device, the real version of which is expected to be revealed today. Steve jobs has been on stage now for a few minutes, he is going over the specs of the company's newest product - the ipad. A quick run through of the numbers as reported by Apple CEO STeve Jobs... They company sold 2 million ipads in the past 2 months, and the device will be in 19 countries by the end of july. Jobs updated us that there are 200 thousand apps currently available in the App Store, 5000 of which are designed specifically for the iPad, with 8500 Native pad apps in the store. In the first 65 days of sale, ipad users have downloaded over 5m ebooks. We will keep you posted on all the developments today from WorldWide Developers Conf 2010.

A DFID-funded microfinance programme has helped more than 400000 men and women build new businesses in Afghanistan. Women account for 60% of those who have received $500 million in small business loans from the Microfinance Investment and Support Facility for Afghanistan (MISFA). DFID has provided £40.5 million to MISFA over the past six years in a bid to create jobs and boost an economy starved by 30 years of conflict. Unemployment in the country is estimated to be around 36% and in recent polls Afghans cited the economy and jobs as their primary concern. According to an independent study in September 2007, each loan has created an average of 1.5 jobs in the country in areas such as agriculture, candle-making and rug-weaving. MISFA was set up with the backing of the government of Afghanistan in 2003 to better channel money and technical help from international donors to microfinance projects at local level. to find out more about how we are helping in Afghanistan, please visit: www.dfid.gov.uk
This is the VOA Special English Economics Report, from voaspecialenglish.com America's economy has started to grow again. Now what about jobs? The government says productivity jumped in July, August and September. That meant companies produced more with fewer workers. Also, new claims for unemployment aid fell at the end of October to the lowest number since January. But eight million jobs have disappeared since the recession began in December of two thousand seven. Jack Strauss at Saint Louis University in Missouri says recent recoveries have been slow to create jobs. Experts debate the reason for these so-called jobless recoveries. But Professor Strauss says a banking crisis is especially hard to recover from, because there is less money to lend to support growth. Banks have been holding bigger safety reserves. On November fourth, the Federal Reserve kept its target rate near zero for overnight loans between banks. The central bank said levels are likely to remain "exceptionally low ... for an extended period." Low interest rates and growing federal deficits have weakened the dollar. But that also lowers the price of American exports, which could help drive job creation. Yet where exactly will future jobs come from? Investor Warren Buffet says America's "future prosperity" depends on its rail system. On November third, his Berkshire Hathaway company agreed to buy the nation's second-largest railroad, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe. The forty-four billion dollar deal ...

Are green jobs really a boost to the economy? Despite being touted as a country that has implemented green jobs successfully, Spain's green jobs program has produced less than stellar results. Professor Gabriel Calzada shares findings from his recent study on Spain's green jobs with Glenn Beck. Among the study's findings (link to the full study below): - For every 1 green job financed by Spanish taxpayers, 2.2 real jobs were lost as an opportunity cost - 9 out of 10 green jobs created by Spain over the past 10 years are no longer in existence today. - Since 2000, Spain has spent â¬571138 ($753778) to create each green job, including subsidies of more than â¬1 million ($1319783) per wind industry job. - Those programs resulted in the destruction of nearly 113000 jobs elsewhere in the economy. - Each green megawatt installed destroyed 5.39 jobs in non-energy sectors of the Spanish economy. www.bradmontgomery.com Military Speaker Home www.bradmontgomery.com Brad Montgomery is a funny motivational speaker from Denver, Colorado. In this video Brad let's us peak behind the scenes on one of his recent jobs as a military motivational speaker for the Defense Acquisition University in Huntsville, Alabama. Brad speaks to all industries, but lately has been speaking to military audiences â and he loves it. Brad uses humor to motivate organizations to remember that Quality of Work Life (happiness) is directly related to Quality of Work Product. Happy workers make better workers. Besides... it's way more fun than the opposite. In this very funny program, Brad Montgomery creates a very fun "experience" where people laugh so hard their faces hurt. Then he connects that humor to using levity, lightheartedness and humor at work in order to increase morale, reduce the need for oversight, and â in the end â improve productivity. If there is one group that needs motivation now it is the military. These hard working men and women have such serious jobs that they NEED a reminder not only that laughter and levity is allowed... it's encouraged. Nothing saps morale more than stress. Often what military groups need most is a dose of Brad. Looking for a military speaker? A speaker for the Air Force? An $821-million project will provide the Fayetteville Shale Play with 265 miles of interstate transmission pipeline, bringing hundreds new jobs to the state for Arkansans. The pipeline will stretch from Conway County, Arkansas, to Kosciusko, Mississippi. Governor Mike Beebe toured a stretch of the construction site in the Center Ridge area in Central Arkansas today, talking about the importance of the project and what it will bring to the people of our state. To view today's remarks by Governor Beebe, click here. This project follows the recent historic adjustment in the state severance tax on natural gas. Thanks to that adjustment, Arkansas now receives a more equitable rate of compensation for the withdrawal of a non-renewable natural resource. The trenched pipeline project builds off of the Fayetteville Shale Play, allowing 1.1-billion cubic feet of compressed gas to be pumped out of Arkansas daily to markets in Memphis, Louisville, Indianapolis, Evansville, Cincinnati, and Dayton. Primary financial backing for the project was provided by Southwestern Energy Services, Co.
This video is intended to highlight the relationship, accountability and reciprocity of two organizers, one is a rank and file Allied Barton security officer (Thomas Robinson) and the other is Philadelphia Jobs With Justice Field Organizer (Eduardo Soriano-Castillo). Under the banner of Philadelphia Officers and Workers Rising (POWR), security guards across the city of Philadelphia have become one of the latest examples of a "non-majority union," organizing outside of the traditional framework of collective bargaining. Unlike most unions, who have demonstrated majority support and bargain contracts on behalf of their members, non-majority unions represent a minority of workers in the workplace, and rely on collective action and shop floor activityâinstead of regularly negotiated contractsâto win gains for the membership. Guards across the city of Philadelphia hope that this organizing model, together with a strong base of student (Student Labor Action Project) and community support(Philadelphia Jobs With Justice), will help them translate the recent sick day and wage increase victories at Penn and Temple U into similar gains citywide, and move them one step closer to their goal of winning full union recognition from AlliedBarton.

For more than twenty-five years, I've been successfully participated in animation music composition(cartoon "Urusei Yatsura", Movie "Tampopo", "Gerry Anderson's FireStorm", etc). These works hardly pursue a whole synchronization of music and pictures, so inevitably, I feel frustrated with the unbalanced two elements. Recent years have been my challenge to seek its solution with brick toys animations(using Lego(R)). Also the music composition to meet the trial has been another project. The number of genuine children's animations seems decreasing compared to the number aiming for OTAKU (freaks) in Japan. The audience of this Dr. Jobs' series aims for five to ten-year old children. In each story, I'd like to create a comedy with this brick character, which you will find his brilliant invention always ending up with a bitter experience. Enjoy it!
