Little Girl crossed the rainbow bridge 05/10/10 Rabies and feline leukemia vaccinations can kill your cat. The pharmaceutical companies know this. Pfizer Boehringer Ingelheim Merial Fort Dodge Schering-Plough The pharmaceutical companies are protected by federal law. I was required by law to vaccinate little girl for rabies. She developed VAS vaccine-associated sarcoma a very aggressive malignant tumor She had her first mass removal surgery in feb. at first the pharmaceutical company beringer Ingelheim agreed to pay up to 1500 in for future treatments Then refused and only agreed to pay for the test that proved it was vas caused by their product. www.truth4dogs.com (Click Small Dogs) -- Giving multiple vaccines to small and medium-sized dogs can be especially dangerous. A veterinary Journal article estimates reactions increase 24% on average for each vaccine given. Combination shots typically contain 4 to 7 vaccines. Add kennel cough and rabies and that's 6 to 9 vaccine. Reactions reported ranged from hives to death.
This is a video created for the purpose of a class project for our IPPE Class. We are not here to sell anything. Only to provide knowledge and education. The Public Health Announcement is for the vaccination for our Man's Best Friend. Its not only to protect them but ourselves as well. There are many shelters and local veterinarian offices that offer free information and discounted vaccines, including the traveling ones that come straight to your front door! Please protect your family and your pets from preventative disease. Make sure vaccines are adminstered by a licensed professional!! I do NOT own the clips of "Good Idea and Bad Idea." They are from the Animaniatics of Warner Bros. Thank you Banfield for allowing us to film Butterball's annual vaccination. No animals were harmed in the making of this film. Please do not try this at home.

Zoey is available for adoption.. www.almosthomenm.org adopt@q.com Approximate DOB: 12/01/2008 Weight: about 35 lbs Update 09/30/2009: OK.. So Zoey has been moved here to the rescue to better be evaluated by us for placement.. Here is what we have learned so far.. She is extremely intelligent and extremely high energy.. If you go running, hiking, biking, horseback riding, etc a lot and need a dog that can keep up with you Zoey is your girl.. She needs someone that can really wear her out.. We thought that wrestling with the pack amd playing ball and tug would tire her out, however we were wrong she needs to go, go, go.. Spending time with the pack has balanced her out somewhat.. So she is now living in one of the groups and is learning tolerance and how to play softly without getting mad.. However she does not really want to play with anyone but Axe.. He is our little boy that just loves to roughhouse with the big dogs.. She is a very dominant girl though so we are very careful with her and she is kept seperated when we can't watch her and reprimanded when she does show inappropriate behavior.. Zoey is one girl who would truly benefit form consistant basic training by the entire household.. This is not your typical dog that is happy to just lay around the house though she is well behaved inside.. She just needs consistency from the entire home- preferably no small children as she will dominate them if she can.. She would thrive in a home with lots of training.. She would ...

Learn about the harsh lives of stray dogs in Kathmandu, Nepal, and the work of the Kathmandu Animal Treatment Centre (KAT Centre) to solve this problem. This video was made years ago when the KAT Centre was just beginning. Watch more videos about KAT, and see how far the Centre has come at katcentre.org.np . There are 35000 dogs living in the streets of the Kathmandu Valley. The Kathmandu Animal Treatment Centre (KAT Centre) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the humane management of street dogs in Kathmandu, Nepal. The Centres mission is to create within the Kathmandu Valley a dog friendly, rabies-free, non-breeding street dog population through an Animal Birth Control (ABC) program. The KAT Centre uses humane and effective methods to control the stray dog population of Kathmandu Valley. KAT relies on your support to treat the dogs of Kathmandu. Intra Dermal Rabies Vaccine - Part 1
We'd love to keep them together but we know how tough that would be so we are willing to give them separate homes... They have both lived with us and our dog since they were born March 2007... They have their Rabies Vaccine good for three years... so good until 2012... we've kept them on Frontline Tick and Flea We feed them Nutra Max Cat food from Pet Smart They are potty trained to their own Breeze Cat Litter System They would come with their own Breeze Cat Litter System plus the rest of the cat food we have for them... They primarily live in our enclosed patio... They used to live indoors with us for the 1st year of their lives but then we built them an enclosed porch area so they could run and jump and enjoy the birds and the outdoor air while still being safely contained in the enclosed porch... We do let them out to roam the yard ever so often and Socks stays well grounded and doesn't go too far but Stripes likes to explore and has jumped a couple of trees and onto our neighbors roof a couple of times... so basically we just watch her while she's out in the yard and keep her away from that tree otherwise she'll climb and get onto the neighbors roof again... she's not very street smart because once she gets up there she looks down at us like she wants to get down but doesn't know how....lol.. :) Email me for more info on their personalities if you like... Thanks for reading :)
A stray cat may be the latest addition of rabies cases on a fast growing list of animals in El Paso County. It was trapped in a horse barn after showing abnormal aggressive behavior. Irene Lobaido has seen the cat coming and going from her horse barn for months, but this past weekend she ran to the barn when she heard the cat going wild. The horse had been chased from the barn. The cat was weaving back and forth and then went at Lobaido, "He was acting furious as far as I was concerned." She put out a trap and caught the cat and then trying to find help she called her vet, Dr. Robert DeAngelo. Just last week he dealt with a cow that likely was infected with rabies and he's aware of the other recent cases in this part of the county. He explains that rabies manifests in multiple ways. Sometimes and animal may be confused, other time it will be suddenly aggressive like this cat. On this case he says, "This just fits the protocol right here, that's what we're worried about." Dr. DeAngelo says it's critical that people get there animals vaccinated. It protects them and you. "This is a fatal disease," according to DeAngelo, "there's no room for error." Different animals require different rabies vaccine protocols to be effective. It is not wise to use over the counter rabies treatments according to health pros. It is important to check with your vet and to ensure proper protection.

A film presented by the Directorate-General for Health and Consumers of the European Commission This film describes the measures that have already been taken to eradicate rabies in the EU and the devastating impact this disease can have on animals and humans. In addition, it explains what travellers can do to prevent the spread of rabies by ensuring that their pet animals are vaccinated against rabies and have an EU pet passport when travelling in the EU.
Dr. Tordo: Vaccination enables your body to make immunoglobulins, but this takes time. If you are bitten, you might need the immunoglobulins immediately. First we supply immunoglobulins to neutralize the virus. Then the body starts to make its own immunoglobulins and takes over the process. Voiceover: Unlike Daniela, who only knows about rabies from her mothers warnings, Bess and Madee learned about it at school. Seventh In the urban areas people are usually aware of rabies, but we have to be aware that most people in the rural areas sometimes do not catch the message very well, and then even after exposure from suspicious animals, they just go to have the hobo remedies or to the traditional healers and most victims (99 percent) do not seek any proper medication at all. Dr. Lambert: People are certainly aware of the danger of rabies. Finances are the only reason they dont come. If the rabies center is far away, they have to pay for transportation, for a place to stay in Ouagadougou and for the vaccine. Rabies treatment costs at least 40000 CFA francs. This is very expensive for a farmer who might earn only 10000 CFAs a year. So nothing is done until the disease or death makes an appearance. Thats often how it goes and is true of other diseases. People would rather die at home than to go to a clinic. Dr. S. Diop: Decentralization must go further and regional rabies centers must be established so immediate care can be provided close to home. Dr. Rigobert: There are only 2 ...
Dr. Rigobert: Rabies is still a public health issue in our countries, particularly in Burkina Faso because many people are attacked. At our two rabies treatment centers in Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso combined, we count 4000 attacks each year. Of these 4000 attacks, about 2500 people are treated for rabies. But there are many more attacks in rural areas. Rabies treatment centers are too far away, so people dont come. The actual number is probably closer to 40000. Fifth In many countries, rabies is not a reportable disease and in fact it is misdiagnosed often because people dont think about rabies. Or perhaps its diagnosed as another encephalitic disease, like cerebral malaria, or something like that, when in fact, the person actually is infected and died of rabies. Dr. Tordo: Human rabies treatment is very simple. Vaccination is the only one that is truly effective. There are two types of vaccination: one is preventive and the other is given after exposure to a rabid dog. But the same mechanism works in both cases. Preventive vaccination, like post-exposure vaccination, allows the body to generate antibodies. Their purpose is to neutralize the virus before it infects the nervous system and causes death. Massive preventive vaccination in endemic countries is difficult for two reasons. The populations are large and, with three injections, the protocol is fairly complex. Scientists are working to simplify the system, but are still in the research stage. Voiceover: Although ...
This movie was possible thanks to the support and collaboration of rabies experts facing the disease in endemic area and at international level. It was shot in Asia (Thailand) and Africa (Burkina Faso and Senegal) and intent to show the daily life of school-age children in close contact with potentially rabid animals. It is interspersed with interviews of rabies specialists describing the disease, its burden, post-exposure measures, vaccination, rabies initiatives and perspectives. The main objective is to raise the global awareness on rabies and educate the lay public about rabies risk and its prevention, making a movie accessible even for people with no scientific knowledge.

May 2008, we took jake to the vet to get a routine rabies vaccine, and a week later he started to deteriorate (his back legs gave out, and he refused to eat. I'm not sure if it was due to the vaccination or if it was just his time -- he was 11 years old afterall. He held on for about a month, and it was a rollercoaster of a month too. One day he'd be up walking around, and the next day he was down, wouldn't eat, couldn't get up, and then a couple days later he'd perk up again. We considered calling the vet, but when we agreed to call "tomorrow", tomorrow would be a very good day for Jake, so we'd let him have his good day...and so continues the up and down cycle. I just couldn't bring myself to take him to the vet, he HATED the vet, he would always throw a fit when I took him in there. Anyways, I realized I didn't have many pictures of him when he was young so most of these are from his final few days with us. He was a great dog, Not only was he a handsome black/silver gsd. He loved each and every one of us completely. He was our protector yet so gentle. He was funny, goofy, and smart. We are all still grieving, even though it's been nearly a year. He'll be in our hearts forever.
This is Pixie Stix and her puppies. They were scheduled for euthanasia at a kill shelter so a fellow rescue group pulled and transported them to us. They are just adorable and it is very hard for us to believe that this small family were all going to be put down. Pixie Stixc is a Chihuahua X Pug and the father of the puppies is supposed to be a Maltese or Papillon. We got to conflicting stories about who dad was. We don't care who the dad is we just care that this family made it through to find a forever home. Today is April 19, 2009 and the puppies are about 6 weeks old. They will be able to go into their forever homes in 2 weeks so get your applications in if you would like to add one of these cuties to your family. Their adoption fee will include three puppy shots, a rabies vaccine, spay/neuter, a 1 month supply of Pedigree dog food (provided as a coupon) though we are currently feeding Avoderm canned puppy food, and training information. Please visit ourt website www.almosthomenm.org for more information on adopting one of these sweet babies. Please e-mail for an adoption application. We do not ship pets- potential adopters must come out to meet and adopt the pet/s they are interested in.
Kid with Rabies gets shot.
Just a little video of Cissy in her pasture and later being lunged for about 10 minutes. I tried to keep her to a walk, but it's a little hard because she occasionally stops when she wishes to, and when I go to get her moving again, she trots and doesn't walk. She does need more work on voice commands. I kept this session short because on the 21st of this month she had a rabies vaccine, then had some type of reaction - if not from the vaccine, then from her moving around in circles when the vet was attempting to give it, then the syringe came apart and the needle was left stuck in her right shoulder until it could be pulled out. By Monday the 23rd she could barely move, and had a large area of swelling which was the injection site. Bute, several days off, and liniment have helped her recover.
I had my horse trimmed this last Saturday. She also got her Rabies and West Nile vaccines. Not necessarily in that order. I gave her the day off Sunday. Monday morning I noticed she had pooped in her shelter - something she never does. When I got off work this afternoon I knew something wasn't right. She didn't want to move. I was concerned she was sore on all 4 hooves. But the right front definitely is causing her the most discomfort - "I think" I am unsure at this point if she got trimmed too short. She has never had shoes as far as I know and her hooves are good and strong. I feel so bad! My poor horse.
What a wonderful sweater. True story again hah. Peace kids

***Court Update*** Well we finally had our court date some 1o months later. All charges on the failure to license and vaccinate the rescue dogs were dropped by the prosecuter. The plea bargin came down to my own personal 10 dogs in question (actually 5 as 5 had either been placed or had passed away as senior dogs.) Why I am writing this is in part an FYI to others. I often took my dogs to the rabies clinics either hosted by the Stanton SPCA or Delaware Humane Assoc. The problem is...they almost always have volunteers helping fill out the rabies slips. 99 % of the time they make major errors. The Stanton SPCA volunteers seem to think rabies vaccine expire on 12/31 instead of either 1 yr or 3 yrs from the date given(depending on dog's age and prior vaccine history) The DHA's volunteers don't seem to understand that a dog having proof of prior vaccination is to get a 3 yr shot. So this ended up being my charges. I had several dogs vaccinated at DHA clinic in 06 the one at the Glasgow park in April I believe. I specifically made it a point to clarify my dogs with proof of prior vaccination would be getting a three yr slip. I was told yes. I had proof of prior vaccinations on all my dogs over 2 yrs of age. Gave all the info to the volunteer filling out the slips and proceeded to take dogs from my vehicle to the vaccination table. Once finished we went back to the vehicle and quickly looked over the slips..I found about 6 or so with errors..took them back over to the table and ...
