The investigating agency had earlier arrested eight persons, including Vivek Bhardwaj Sharma, son of SM Sharma, chairman of RRB Mumbai who was later suspended, AK Jagannatham, the then ADRM in Raipur and his son Srujan for allegedly leaking exam papers for money. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday claimed to have unearthed a multi-crore Railway recruitment scam and arrested eight persons, including son of Chairman of Railway Recruitment Board, Mumbai, for allegedly leaking exam paper for money.
On October 19, students mostly from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar who had gone to Mumbai and adjoining areas to appear in a Railway recruitment Board test were beaten by Raj Thackeray's supporters and hounded out of the examination centers. Some were not even allowed to reach the test venue. Raj's supporters ensured they were terrorised enough to flee Mumbai in haste huddled in a general compartment.
