Shrirama Navami is called a holy festival (sun) when it is celebrated individually, a religious festival (utsav) when celebrated collectively and when performed individually with a resolve (sankalpa) it becomes a vowed observance (vrat). Also, unlike most vowed religious observances, which are practiced individually, Shrirama Navami is a vowed religious observance undertaken by a group. Several temples of Lord Rama celebrate this festival for nine days, beginning from Gudhipadva (the first day (pratipada) of the month of Chaitra). It is celebrated by periodic readings (parayans) of the Ramayan, organizing and attending spiritual discourses (kirtans) and beautifully embellishing Lord Rama's statue. During these nine days, reciting the Ramaraksha prayer (stotra) eleven times daily with a resolve (sankalpa) brings the prayer to fruition, yielding benefits like reduction of speech impairment and other ailments, and gaining prosperity. On the ninth day, that is, on Shrirama Navami a spiritual discourse on Lord Rama's birth is held in the afternoon. At noon, a coconut, draped in a hooded cloak is placed in a cradle and rocked. The coconut signifies the baby Lord Rama. A red, fragrant powder (gulal) and flowers are showered onto it. Many places in North India host fairs in connection with the festival, culminating in spectacular fireworks on Rama Navami.
Shri Ram Hrudayam is in Sanskrit. It is told by Shri Ram himself in presence of Shri Hanuman. It starts with bowing to Ganesh. Then God Shri Shankar is telling Ram Hrudayam in Shri Rams own words. The main meaning of this stotra is atman and parmatman are not two but they are one in totality. We see the reflection of the sky in the water so is the paramatman reflection is seen in every individual as atman. However we the mortals think that God or Parmatama is in Heaven and he is separate from us. We have to understand that Parmatama is within us only and we all are one. Word to word meaning is not possible to write in short space.
This is a very great prayer composed by a saint called Budha Koushika. Several verses are simply quoted from other great stotras. It is believed that recitation of this great prayer would get rid of all the problems created by the nine planets.

Sloka is a Sanskrit word used to denote a prayerful verse written to follow certain grammatical rules. The slokas presented here can be used in our daily prayers. These prayers are generally directed to specific God or Goddess forms such as Ganesh, Rama, Devi, Krishna etc. Conveying the majesty and the Omnipotence of God, the slokas portray vivid descriptions of the different God forms and their Divine powers. Anyone who chants these powerful verses and invokes the appropriate God (Goddess) Forms and Names mentally, will be able to achieve a steady and peaceful mind full of devotion. That in short is the purpose of the slokas. Bhagavan Baba has talked at length about the importance of slokas in practicing Namasmarana (reciting the Lord's Name). In a recent Discourse, He said: "I always begin My discourse with a sloka or a poem and conclude it with a bhajan. Do you know what they are? The first poem or sloka is like a plate, the discourse can be compared to the various delicious items that are served on the plate, and the bhajan in the end is like a plate covering the delicious items. Do not treat this as a Mandhu (medicine), thereby taking a little. Treat this as a Vindhu (banquet) and partake of the delicious items that I serve to the maximum extent. Experience and enjoy this banquet." May Bhagavan Baba Bless us all to enjoy this banquet of slokas. JAI SAI RAM
