Beautiful Indian Rangoli design - Fine Art of rangoli. Rangoli is a hindi word. The term is derived from words: rang (colour) and aavalli (row ) so rangoli is row of colours. It is one of the most popular and traditional art forms in India. It is not much known to the other countries . Traditionally, Rangoli is drawn usually in front of the house - doorway and around a holy plant tulsi (basil) on holy occasions and festivals (specially Deepawali). It is daily practice to draw some rangoli in front of the doors in south India. It uses different natural and synthetic mediums and colours(marble, sand, grains, sawdust, flowers etc.The origin of rangoli painting is traced to a legend recorded in the Chitralakshana, the earliest Indian treatise on painting. When the son of a King's high priest died, Brahma(Lord of the universe) asked the king to paint the likeness of the boy so that Brahma could breathe life into him again. It is believed that the first painting was made in this way. The Chola rulers made extensive use of floor paintings. These floor paintings are known by different names in different parts of the country;Aalpana in Bengal, Madana in Rajasthan, Rangoli in Gujarat, Karnataka and Maharashtra, Chowkpurana in Uttar Pradesh, Muggu in Aandhrapradesh and kolam in Kerala,Tamilnadu and Pondicherry . In Buddhist Mandalas, the reason for using powder or sand as a medium for creating rangoli is sometimes thought to be a metaphor for the impermanence of life and maya. The designs ...

A Rangoli of a Jain sage is hoping to claim a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Let's have a look. Artists in India's western Maharashtra state have created a Rangoli of Jain god Lord Mahavira that measures 24 hundred square feet. They feel confident that their entry of this traditional Indian art form will win a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. The Rangoli, prepared in the state's Nagpur city, took about 60 hours to complete as a team of Rangoli artists worked on it. Adam Ali Mujawar, the head of the team of artists, said that before this he had made five records and this was his best to date. [Adam Ali Mujawar, Rangoli Artists Team Leader]: "The Rangoli of Lord Mahavira has been made up of about 1000 kilos of flower powder, 150 kilos of color and about 250 values of color. The face of Mahavira is about ten to twelve feet. The total figure is about 48 feet. All the flower and color shades have been put together to bring out the ideology and message of Lord Mahavira which he gave out about two thousand five hundred years ago. So with all these thoughts in mind, we have created this record here." Mujawar further said that he has sent the Rangoli as an entry to the Guinness Book of World Records. The people who have been coming to see it have all ...
Vasanthama and the kids enjoy drawing rangolis for Christmas. Usually, we don´t put, but Vasanthama means, at least on festival days one should have some ... so, during all festivals as Diwali, Christmas, and so on, we have chalk paintings in front of the house ... Rangoli means a decorative art to put nice patterns on the floor, which is widely performed all over India. There are hundreds of ways to make rangolis (with rice powder, colour powders, chalk etc.) and millions of designs, which are teached inside a family or group or can be newly created. Usually, the rangolis are painted on the ground in front of a house or an entrance, but there are also inhouse rangolis, or rangolis on water surfaces, and so on. Mostly, they are symmetric and drawn on base of a pointed grid, and commonly, they are very instabile, means during the day they are automatically destroyed. How to do Diwali Lakshmi Puja? What is the procedure of Diwali Lakshmi Puja? What is the significance of Laxmi Pooja during Deepavali? These are the most frequent questions I have come through this season. Diwali Lakshmi Puja 2010 or Deepavali Laxmi Puja 2010 date is November 5th. Diwali or Deepavali is the most auspicious day to worship Goddess Lakshmi. Laxmi pooja during Diwali brings every type of wealth to the performer of the puja. Laxmi blesses the performer with wealth, health, property and prosperity. How to do or perform Diwali Lakshmi Puja -- Deepavali Laxmi Pooja Procedure: The first and the foremost thing in Diwali Lakshmi puja procedure is the neatness. Puranas stated that Lakshmi resides there where neatness and cleanness exist. So, first of everything, make your home or the puja place neat. Draw some rangoli designs or the patterns to welcome Goddess Laxmi Maa. Click here for the material require for Diwali Lakshmi Puja Steps in Diwali Laxmi Puja procedure 1. Take a piece of cloth (red or yellow or green in colour) and spread it at the sanctified puja place. On the cloth, spread 9 mounds of rice and keep suparis on the top of the rice mounds. Gerrard India Bazaar is the largest marketing place for South Asian goods and services in North America. The members of the association celebrate the most important festival of india- DIWALI each year. Diwali, often referred to as the Festival of Lights, is the most glamorous and the most important occasion in India. People of every religion enthusiastically embrace it. In the Greater Toronto Area, there are over 400000 South Asians celebrate Diwali. The story of Diwali is an ancient one, and differs depending on the various regions and states of India. Diwali is the day when King Rama's coronation was celebrated in Ayodhya after his epic war with Ravana, the demon king of Lanka. By order of the royal families of Ayodhya and Mithila, the kingdom of which Sita was a princess, the cities and far-flung boundaries of these kingdoms were lit up with rows of lamps. These lamps glittered on dark nights to welcome home the divine king Rama and his queen Sita after 14 years of exile, ending an across-the-seas war in which the whole of the kingdom of Lanka was destroyed. The first day of Diwali is "Dhanteras". Doorways are hung with mango leave and marigolds. Oil lamps are arranged in and around the house, which lead to the name Diwali—a row of lamps. The second day Chaturdashi or Chhoti Diwali is the night of the dark new moon with the entrances to all homes lit up and decorated with rangoli patterns to welcome Lakshmi the radiant consort of Vishnu and the goddess of wealth and ...
