Columbus Interfaith Solidarity Event: "Burn NO Sacred Books." This event was held on Saturday, Sept 11, 2010, 2:00 pm at First Unitarian Universalist Church. It was an interfaith service commemorating 9/11. We stood with our leaders as we affirm religious tolerance and a pluralistic society where all share equal dignity and mutual loyalty. Speakers included: Rev. For additional information on Residential Home Health's MindCare Dementia Program for Michigan and Illinois dementia and Alzheimer's patients, please call (866) 902-4000. The MindCare program focuses on functional tasks that enable the patient to remain independent at home for as long as possible. It empowers caregivers to promote safety and reduce stress and is guided by evidence-based principles. This video highlights a recent event held to educate medical professionals and caregivers in a framework for dealing with individuals suffering from dementia. The framework includes evaluating the situation and getting in front of the problem. The discussion is led by expert Lanny Butler (MS, OTR), whose research forms the basis for the Residential Home Health MindCare program, and covers several best practices and expert tips for individuals caring for loved ones with Alzheimer's disease or dementia. Butler offers the following caregiver advice: slow down, enter the reality of the dementia patient, and recognize each individual as a person, not a disease. According to Butler, late stage dementia patients may experience up to a 90-second delay in processing information from caregivers, so patience is critical. Residential Home Health president David Curtis explains that the mission for his team of home health professionals is to help improve quality of ...

Highlights from the recent event, here at Japan Society! Just over one year since Barack Obama swept into office and mere months since the Democratic Party of Japan shook off 55 years of virtually uninterrupted LDP rule, it is clear that global economic conditions are improving, albeit more slowly in mature markets hampered by high unemployment than in Asias emerging markets. Concurrent with political change have been efforts to affect regulatory reform to prevent or at least mitigate the effects of the next global economic downturn. How will regulatory reforms impact global business and what role does politics play in their formation? How are the new Democratic regimes in Japan and the US shaping reform efforts and are business lobbies fears warranted? Our experts explore these issues and offer their thoughts on the economic and business outlook for the US, Asia, Japan, and Europe. Foreign Affairs columnist for The New York Times Tom Friedman is the writer the public looks to for the straight talk and reliable information it needs about the world — especially when events seem too menacing to comprehend and policy discussions are clouded in a smokescreen of politics and posturing. Covering many of the monumental stories of recent decades, he has won three Pulitzer Prizes and been called the countrys best newspaper columnist by Vanity Fair. His new book, just out in paperback with updated information, is Hot, Flat and Crowded: Why We Need a Green Revolution — and How It Can Renew America . This is a #1 New York Times bestseller. His previous bestseller, The World is Flat, has sold more than two million copies. His other bestsellers include Longitudes and Attitudes: The World in the Age of Terrorism, The Lexus and the Olive Tree and From Beirut to Jerusalem, which serves as a basic text on the Middle East in colleges and universities nationwide and won the National Book Award. Friedman appears in his own segment, Toms Journal, on The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer and is a frequent guest on programs such as Face the Nation and Charlie Rose. His TV documentaries, Searching for the Roots of 9/11, The Other Side of Outsourcing and Addicted to Oil, have aired on the Discovery Channel.

FREETOWN, Sierra Leone, Sep 14, 2009 — General William E. Ward, commander of US Africa Command, commended the government of Sierra Leone for its willingness to support United Nations peacekeeping missions in Darfur during an interview with Cotton Tree Radio in Freetown, September 14, 2009. "The upcoming deployment of the 150-man reconnaissance element is a significant factor that highlights your commitment to peacekeeping," Ward said. "I think that the work that will be done by your soldiers and your leaders in that commitment is something that will be noted by the entire continent." Ward explained that the purpose of his visit was to listen to the people of Sierra Leone, and discuss how US Africa Command can assist the nation in its security objectives. One such program that highlights the cooperation between Sierra Leone and the United States is the Africa Maritime Law Enforcement Program, which helps nations in Western Africa improve their maritime security. Ward described a recent event in August in which the two nations partnered to apprehend an illegal fishing vessel. "Because of our joint work together, the government of Sierra Leone was able to take appropriate action in so far as its maritime security was concerned" This marked Ward's first visit to Sierra Leone, where he discussed security-related issues with military officials of the Sierra Leone Armed Forces and met with Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma. The complete transcript of Ward's interview is ...

On the 10th of July New Zealand hosted its biggest LAN of the year, X-Lan. And although TF2 is not a WCG game a competitive tournament was held anyway, with prizes for the winning teams. A lot of people say the competitive side of TF2 is growing weaker, but with the recent success of this lan tournament, I think thats far from the truth. Hopefully more tournaments like this will be held both here in NZ, and overseas. This is a movie filled with the frag highlights seen throughout the 3 day event. These aren't NZ's greatest TF2 players, but just some entertainment brought to you straight from x-lan itself. Hope you enjoy.

www.americanprogress.org The iconic public square where Americans of the past used to gather to debate the politics of the day is long gone from most cities and towns, but the spirited conversations that once defi ned these places—both in myth and fact—are alive and well today. The topics of our current political and cultural conversations range from the mundane to the profound, but a recurring theme has to do with religion and politics—in particular, whether religion should be a force shaping our public policies and our common civic life. Of course, this is not a new conversation. Contrasting views about the role of religion in public life predate our nation's birth—from the Massachusett s Bay Colony, where officials collected taxes to support the Puritan church and compelled att endance at its services, to the Founders who disestablished religion from the state and drafted the Constitution without mention of God. In recent years, these conversations have been heating up. Invectives fly back and forth as opponents stake out mutually exclusive claims on behalf of truth, fairness, and the American way. Listening to each side, one is hard-pressed to tell whether we are a God-saturated, intolerant, antiintellectual theocracy—or a severely secular nation that punishes the practice of religion and banishes God altogether from our laws, policies, and public life. Debating the Divine: Religion in 21st Century American Democracy aims to turn down the heat and turn up the light ...

As now is tradition in Enid, thanks to the Mysterious Lab and Tammy Wilson, the Halloween event 'Scare on the Square' occurs in the downtown area. Around Halloween, thousands of people gather from all over and have fun, kids seeking candy, adults finding friends, everyone participating in the costume contests and the parade. We in the Mysterious Crew usually have so much to do but we do document every event and then air it on our annual Post-Halloween special in November for everyone to sit back and reflect on while gorging themselves with Thanksgiving food. Here is the recent 2007 event, edited down for size here on YouTube you all to see, part two features the parade only.
Made by LeafSnowX. I got this video from www.sc2.org so I'll paste iloveCats's description here as well: "This is an amazing 22 minute BoxeR highlight video made by a Chinese BoxeR fan LeafSnowX. It covers some of the most unforgettable moments in BoxeR's career from 2001 to present, including many OSL finals and semi finals as well as the recent proleague events. It's probably one of the most complete and brilliant BoxeR highlight videos made to date. The author did lots of work on the background music selection too." Note: this is the best quality available for the movie. Even though the sound quality is low (in the first half of the movie, gets better later), historically this is the best BoxeR highlights ever made (and there are SO many BoxeR highlights, that it means a lot), so consider this movie a documentary of sorts :-) well worth the watch!
