A Change Is Gonna Come performed live in Oakland California by singer/activist Colette Washington with Jay Johnson backing her up on guitar. Not long after Barack Obama was elected the first non-white President of the United States of America running his campaign on HOPE for CHANGE that real UNITY could become REALITY, Californians voted to ban same-sex marriage with a yes vote Proposition 8--writing discrimination into our Constitution, and later becoming known as Prop H8. "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere!" says one speaker at a massive rally in San Francisco on Nov. 15, 2008--the day simultaneous rallies occurred throughout the state of California to repeal Prop 8. So it seemed fitting that this amazing protest song by Sam Cooke be set to a compelling picture show portraying the struggles which continue today in order to ensure civil rights to ALL people! A Change Is Gonna Come! ++++++++++++ Additional photos credits go to: My niece, Tori Mayfield from Eureka, CA Nurse photos provided by CNA/NNOC Staff at CalNurses.org

The Mormon church was a primary source of funding for prop 8 in California. Protesters are seeking to revoke the Church of Latter Day Saints tax exempt status and repeal prop 8, which changes California's constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman. This is some footage from todays protest.
Very small part of the HUGE crowd on Friday, Nov 7, 2008 at the March down Market Street to repeal passage of California Proposition 8: Unfair and Unconsitutional Ban on Gay Marriage. I estimate the crowd was over 20,000.

Sean Dynes singing Lurgan Town. Lurgan Town Oh Lurgan town's an altered town, Since papish Hancock he came to it If ye walk on the twelfth day of July, Ye may depend he'll make you rue it, And if you sing an Orange song, Ye'll be jailed for eight and forty hours. Fresh orders he has gave his police, To make prisoners of none but ours. Whack fol la, Too rye ay Whack fol right fol too rye addy. Lurgan hill is one high hill, The devil's hill the truth I tell ye. The Fenian master he lives there Besides his name is Francis Kelly, And every night the meeting's held, About Repeal and Dan O'Connell, And dare the man dare pass that way, Unless his name is Pat or Donal. Whack fol la, Too rye ay Whack fol right fol too rye addy. We held a dance in ould Kilmore, The Fenian bulldogs they came to it. They danced our maids right round the floor, And ordered Patrick's Day to play it Garyowen and the White Cockade, These were the tunes that they did want sirs, As round the floor they danced our maids, Sayin' "You never stood before such dancers." Whack fol la, Too rye ay Whack fol right fol too rye addy. The twelfth day of July came round, We raised up thirty stand of colours, And on that hill we raised an arch, And on it printed Here's no cowards, Now, says Kelly, If you come through Your Orange blood we'll surely scatter. We turned, shook hands, all we could do, Was say, Boys remember the Boyne Water. Whack fol la, Too rye ay Whack fol right fol too rye addy.

"The 'don't ask, don't tell' policy is at the top of my priority list, and I'm going to work with the House Armed Services Committee to ensure that it gets a fair hearing," Meehan said today. "It's time to end this outdated and discriminatory policy." Bob Witeck, a former aide to a Republican Senator and political strategist in Washington, views the changed Congressional landscape in the context of the race for the White House. "The overriding consequence of elections 2006 is to prepare for election day 2008," he said. In an effort to overcome perceived weaknesses on national security, he said, Democrats' focus will be Iraq. "That means it is not likely that 'don't ask, don't tell' will get a frontal assault before the 2008 elections, unless we can tie loyal, openly gay service members to meeting American national security priorities." According to a spokesman for Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, she, "is committed to reintroducing the legislation [for repeal] and supports it," He added that, right now, "it's hard to say where things are going." Ike Skelton, the new Democratic HASC Chairman, supports the current gay ban, but has signalled that he could be open to re-visiting the matter in the new Congress, according to HASC spokeswoman, Loren Dealy. Some of the new Democrats on defence and national security committees are seen to be among the Party's most conservative, including Skelton, John Murtha, Jim Webb and others with close ties to the military. Other Democratic candidates who won House seats in November, however, also have experience in the military, and some have taken positions against the current gay policy. The Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest gay rights lobbying organisation, touted the support for repeal of Joe Sestak, a former Vice Admiral who served on President Clinton's National Security Council, and who won his bid for a seat in the house in Pennsylvania. Patrick Murphy, an Iraq War veteran who taught constitutional law at West Point, and won a seat in a neighbouring district, has expressed concerns about the effects of "don't ask, don't tell" on national security and military values. Aaron Belkin, Director of think-tank the Palm Centre, said that on the one hand, significant barriers in Congress remain. On the other hand, Belkin noted that repealing the gay ban is not just the priority of a liberal or Democratic agenda, but is now supported by majorities of Republicans, conservatives and regular church-goers. "More and more people have seen the evidence about 'don't ask, don't tell,' and believe that the policy is not helping the military." http://www.palmcenter.org/press/dadt/in_print/congress_may_revisit_gays_in_the_military Gov. Sarah Palin's church is promoting a conference that promises to convert gays into heterosexuals through the power of prayer. "You'll be encouraged by the power of God's love and His desire to transform the lives of those impacted by homosexuality," according to the insert in the bulletin of the Wasilla Bible Church, where Palin has worshipped for about six years... She opposes gay marriage and spousal rights for gay couples. Focus on the Family, a national Christian fundamentalist organization, is conducting the "Love Won Out" Conference in Anchorage, about 30 miles from Wasilla. There is no way that a person who is indifferent to the question of whether homosexuality is a choice or genetic can support a conference of crackpots, psychological renegades and far-right Christianists seeking to "cure" gay people. Palin is on record seeking to strip gay couples of all rights in their relationships, although she was forced by constitutional mandate to grant equal benefits to gay couples who are employees of the state government in Alaska. She supported a non-binding referendum for an Alaskan constitutional amendment to deny state health benefits to same-sex couples: Ultimately, she said, she supports denying those [health and retirement] benefits through a constitutional amendment, if that's what the public wants. http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/09/the-lies-of-s-7.html#more
I wonder whether the analogy here will offend anyone. I assume no one thinks I oppose gay marriage or am calling gay people violent killing machines. I just thought it was a funny way of framing the gun thing. That said I do oppose the repeal of the gun ban and actually won a philosophy prize in college with a paper on what constitutes justifiable gun control. The bottom line was the state is justified in preventing people from attaining guns just so long as the state also invests in the development of other non-lethal self-defense technologies. Gun Owners: Please don't steal my jokes. To be completely honest, in the event of a stick up I will probably forget most of them.
We the Refugee Children of the Greek Civil War, who have endured inhumane treatment from Greek Governments since 1946, who were born in Aegean Macedonia and who are scattered throughout the world, We demand: Human and national rights for all Macedonians living inside Greece. That Greece, who is a member of the European Union and a signatory to guarantees of human rights for all its citizens, including the Macedonians, fulfills its obligations. That the Greek Government repeal the law enacted in 1982 designed to repatriate only "Greeks by birth". Greek citizens who were Greek by birth and had left Greece from 1946 to 1949, were allowed to return to Greece. Macedonians were excluded. That the Greek Government repeal the law enacted in 1985 designed to return confiscated properties belonging to only "Greeks by birth". War refugees who were "Greeks by birth" and had returned to Greece from 1982 to 1985 were given back their properties. Macedonians were again excluded. With these two laws the Greek State has taken away our Greek citizenship and our lands. Because we are Macedonians, non-Greeks by birth, our homes and properties have been confiscated and awarded to settlers and colonists from Asia Minor and other places. Approximately 60,000 ethnic Macedonians--28,000 of them children between two and 14 years old--were expelled or forced to flee from Greece after the Greek Civil War. Stripped of their Greek citizenship and their properties confiscated, the expellees were not permitted to return to Greece for even a brief visit unless they denied their own ethnic origin and declared themselves "Greek." Until 1912, Macedonia--a territory much larger than the present-day Republic of Macedonia--was part of the Ottoman Empire. During the first Balkan War of 1912, it was liberated from Turkish rule with the help of Greece, Serbia, and Bulgaria. The following year, however, the three liberators sought repayment for their assistance, fighting each other in the second Balkan War of 1913, and partitioning Macedonia. The northern part, also known as Vardar Macedonia because it stretches along the valley of the River Vardar, was annexed by Serbia. The eastern part, or Pirin Macedonia, became part of Bulgaria, while the southern part, Aegean Macedonia, stretching along the northern coast of the Aegean Sea, was annexed by Greece.

Vote? Protest? Participate in a rally? Walk all the way across the country? We are. This summer, a group of activists will be walking across America to achieve more freedom and liberty. Our pioneer forefathers trekked across the continent from the east to the west to find a better life for themselves. This time, we're doing it in reverse. I am walking coast-to-coast across the country, from Oregon to New Hampshire. I am joined by my immediate family as well. We're on a quest to gain more freedom for ourselves and for our country by spreading the message of freedom and liberty along the way. Why are we doing this? We see the gradual chipping away at freedoms in America, and want to do our part to stop it. My wife and I are moving to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project. New Hampshire is already the freest state in the country, which is why we are moving there. But we also want to help bring more freedom to as many other people as possible. Therefore we are walking across America to get to New Hampshire. We are walking all the way there to bring as much media attention and publicity as possible to two liberty-oriented causes: the Free State Project, which is working to make New Hampshire even more free, and Ron Paul's message of freedom for everyone. Why Scotty Boman? About myself: I don't know how to control your life. I don't want to control your life. And I know the Constitution does NOT grant Senators the Authority to control your life. Why Libertarian? The Libertarian Party is the ONLY political party that has consistently called for the relegalization of Drugs as a matter of principal. 1. Democrats & Republicans have been equally antagonistic to your right to control your own body chemistry. · Presidents can pardon all federal prisoners. · Governors can pardon all state prisoners. This so-called "Land of the Free" has a larger portion of it's citizens in prison, than any other country on Earth. With a half million people being in jail for violating drug laws. 2. Nonetheless I applaud those who have chosen to be precinct delegates in one of the major parties. It doesn't hurt to have a vote on their party platforms. 3. But REGARDLESS OF POLITICAL PARTY we must make the right to control ones own bodies a hot-button issue. We must make it clear to the politicians that we will not vote for ANY candidate who supports the continuation of prohibition. 4. As a Federal candidate, I am here to tell you that politicians who have been enacting federal drug laws (that do not address border crossings, or trade across state lines) are themselves criminals. · Your rights don't come from the Constitution, but many of those rights are protected by it. The Constitution only permits the federal government to regulate trade between states, not trade within states. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS NO LEGAL AUTHORITY TO DENY LEGALIZATION OF MEDICAL MARIJUANA ON A STATE-BY-STATE BASIS. 5. What about our current Senators? · This year Carl Levin is up for re-election. So I will address his voting record. · He continues to support funding for the DEA. · He voted for the Real ID act and continues to support funding for it. In case you haven't heard, next year every state is required to make their state's drivers license into a DeFacto national ID card that will store personal information about you and will contain RF technology that will make it possible for the government to track your every move. It will require a national data base that will serve as a one-stop shop for thieves. Possession of the Real ID will be required for most travel and to carry out most financial activity. · He supports the Foreign Intelligence Survalance Act (FISA), and the "Anti-terrorism Wiretaps Amendment of 1995." Which make it easier for law enforcement authorities to use multipoint wiretaps. This removed restrictions that previously required judicial authorizations for every wiretap on a suspect, and creating a single multipoint wiretap authorization. · He voted in favor of the "USA Patriot Act of 2001" that granted law enforcement more authority to search homes, tap phone lines, and track internet use of those SUSPECTED of terrorism for FOUR YEARS. · He votes to continue support for the Iraq war while claiming to oppose it. · Voted for a federal definition of marriage (as heterosexual only). · Voted to create a Homeland Security Department and to keep detention and interrogation camps at Guantanamo. So what will I do? As your Senator, I will do everything in my power to: · Support our troops and bring them home from Iraq. · End the IRS, and replace it with more freedom. · End the Federal Reserve "inflation tax" and return to honest money. · Stop big government obstacles to health-care choices. This includes FDA harassment of supplement providers, and attempts to violate the jurisdiction of states that have chosen to legalize medical marijuana. · Protect individual privacy and repeal the "Real ID Act." This national ID card is bound to become a one-stop store for thieves. · Only spend money as authorized by the Constitution. · Stop financial dependence on foreign nations and visa-versa. · Never surrender United States sovereignty to supper-national bureaucracies. Limit involvement in, or withdrawing from the GATT, NAFTA, NAU, WTO, CAFTA, and ICC. · Restore Habeas Corpus and repeal the so-called "Patriot Act." · Begin plans to strategically close military bases abroad. Starting with nations that are able to manage their own defense (such as the NATO members in Europe). · End the so-called "War on Drugs" and all other unconstitutional federal restrictions on Intrastate commerce.

http://ThisJune5th.com - DOWNLOAD AND PRINT THE PUBLIC NOTICE AND SHARE THIS VIDEO!!! On June 5, 1933 the United States abandoned the Gold Standard. 75 years later, this June 5th 2008, We The People of the United States declare a State of Emergency, and instate a 10 (ten) day Bank Holiday. We The People, in concert, do acknowledge a financial state of emergency exists, due to the reckless behavior of the Federal Reserve System, the Chairman, and the Board of Governors, and do declare Federal Reserve Notes of no consequential value, and have therefore decided to withdraw all federal reserve debt notes from the banking system for a term of no less than 10 (ten) days. The 10th day is the 172nd anniversary of the repealing of the charter of the "Bank of the United States" by the 24th Congress. This bank holiday is intended to reduce the rapid inflation of the Federal Reserve Note by reducing the ability of banks to borrow against holdings by a factor of 9. Gas prices, food prices, energy prices, and cost of living are directly related to the inflation, caused by the Federal Reserve. This bank holiday is also intended to send a message to our representative congress that we demand the repealing of the "Federal Reserve Act of 1913" and demand "lawful money" issued by the U.S. Treasury to replace it. Please visit http://ThisJune5th.com to download the Public Notice for printing and posting in your city or town. FED BANKER SPILLS THE BEANS: http://MeetTheFED.com
It has been the stance of Community Watchdog Project that illegal immigration is the modern day slavery. Elected officials like City of New Haven Mayor John DeStefano support and facilitate this humanitarian disaster through their political policies. Only a few months ago our national politicians wanted to enact a temporary amnesty in order to help the economy during a possible recession - why not repeal the Emancipation Proclamation? Our politicians are disgraceful, but we need to begin removing them from office starting from the bottom with people like John DeStefano

DO NOT LISTEN TO THE ENDING IF YOU LIKE YOUR EARS CONNECTED TO YOUR HEAD!! Please do not use these lyrics without my permission... This is my English version Just in case you don't understand what I am saying, here are the lyrics How much tears must we cry before we dry our eyes Every heart has to become honest someday near To whom must we proclaim our feelings deep within Every Heart somehow will repeal the loneliness inside I was scared and frightened by the never-ending black darkness So I prayed to the glowing distant stars! Here we go around and around in looping time We are on a constant search for this feeling we call love We are on this search to become stronger each day We still continue to look at the far blue sky INTERLUDE What smile do I look for to release the pain Every Heart wants to take a step towards their dream These people only feel the sadness in their hearts Every heart loses its joy through the feeling of despair I hope that someday all their souls will truly find what they want and all the souls will find their true peace here we go around and around in looping time we someday live and learn to somehow understand these things but sometimes we laugh hard, and yet we also cry I know we will continue to walk again today. In the corners of my childhood memories, I can almost feel this joyful warm place, so sweet Where I hear the stars talk of a bright future Than have never-ending sparkling dreams SO SHINE! Here we go around and around in looping time We are on a constant search for this feeling we call love We are on this search to become stronger each day We still continue to look at the far blue sky here we go around and around in looping time we someday live and learn to somehow understand these things but sometimes we laugh hard, and yet we also cry I know we will continue to walk again today.
The Sadowski Coalition hosted a press conference on Wednesday, March 26 at 9 a.m. to emphasize the importance of spending housing trust fund money on housing. Later at 1 p.m., Florida lawmakers, people in need of affordable housing, and members of the Sadowski Coalition formed a rally to celebrate Florida's Affordable Housing Day on the steps of the Old Capitol Building. The large group called on the Legislature to use Florida's housing trust fund money for housing. Lawmakers have capped the trust funds and with the repeal of the cap not expected to pass in the 2008 session, Florida will never again have the money to put into housing that it has now. Florida has a one-time opportunity to jumpstart its economy with the monies from the Florida state and local housing trust funds. PROVIDENCE -- The General Assembly next week will reconsider a controversial law that requires 17-year-olds to be tried as adults in criminal matters, a change of heart that follows three months of intense lobbying by a host of groups that blasted the law as bad public policy and not cost effective. The leadership in both chambers have agreed in principle to "basically repeal" the law during next week's one-day special session, according to Senate Finance Committee Chairman Steven Alves, D-West Warwick. "It was a terrible proposal. There's no other way to describe it," he said of the provision, which was introduced as a cost-cutting measure in the state budget by the governor and approved by the General Assembly in June. Since the law took effect July 1, more than thirty-six 17-year-olds have spent at least one night in the state prison, accused of crimes that previously might have resulted in a locked stay at the Training School. Those youths have adult criminal records now instead of a juvenile record that would have been sealed by the Family Court. The governor's office initially said that trying 17-year-olds as adults would save $3.6 million because the average cost of housing inmates at the state prison is cheaper than the Training School. But in the days immediately after the measure became law, the head of the state prison system cast doubt on those savings. Department of Corrections Director A.T. Wall said that 17-year-old inmates would be held at the high-security unit -- known as "Super Max" -- for their protection at an average cost of more than $100,000 a year. Wall told a Senate panel investigating the issue last month that the governor's office did not consult him before the proposal was introduced. On December 4, 1933, the day before final ratification of the repeal amendment, the President established the Federal Alcohol Control Administration, pursuant to Executive Order No. 6474. FACA was to have the power to grant or revoke permits to engage in the alcoholic beverage industry-not the brewing industry-as well as the power to control plant capacity and production; it was also to engage in consumer protection through regulations designed to prevent misbranding and false advertising of alcoholic beverages. In addition, FACA prohibited the ownership of retail outlets by manufacturers and wholesalers (Harrison & Laine, 1936: 24-29).

May Pole Dancing at Winterborne Stickland Fete 2006 The most well known symbol of May Day (1st May) is the maypole. The custom of dancing around the maypole is an ancient fertility rite, which is still performed today on village greens and at spring fetes. The origins of the maypole hark back to ancient times when tree spirits were worshiped and indeed the first maypoles were tall slender trees, usually birch, which had their branches lopped off, leaving just a few at the top to be adorned with garlands and blossom: a far cry from the more elaborate designs of today. The maypole itself is a phallic symbol representing the planting of the god's phallus into the mother earth's womb, there by illustrating the bringing forth of new life. In addition some maypoles are painted with red and white spiral stripes in much the same way as a barber's pole and this too has sexual meaning: the red representing the female menstrual blood and the white the male semen. The sexual symbolism of the maypole and all the immoral revelry that went along with it led the Puritans to out-law the maypole custom in 1644. However, this prohibition was soon repealed after the restoration of Charles II in 1660. Many towns and parishes erected permanent maypoles in celebration, some boasting 80 or 90 feet! These permanent poles were left to stand throughout the year but only decorated and danced around on May Day. Dancing around the maypole was once a very merry and frivolous affair, yet today's maypole dancing with its colourful ribbons is a relatively modern dance, only dating back to the nineteenth century. However, this new adaptation is now accepted as a very important aspect of the maypole dance. By taking two ribbons and weaving them together the dancers make a new element, thus two makes three representing the sexual union and the offspring.
