The Government has put in place measures aimed at transforming the country into a newly industrialized middle income nation by the year 2030, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has said. Mr. Musyoka said the improvement of the people's living standards is now the Government's top priority, saying this would be achieved through the implementation of the country's national plan, the Vision 2030. Speaking during the occasion to mark the National Day of the Peoples Republic of China , held at the Chinese Embassy in Nairobi, the VP thanked the Chinese government for the assistance extended particularly in infrastructure development. Noting that China is a close friend and a valuable partner of Kenya, Mr. Musyoka said the two countries attach great importance to the advancement of friendly bilateral relations and increased strategic partnership in development, peace and security. The Vice President said Kenya has over the years benefited substantially from the financial and technical support extended by China , with a cumulative official development assistance amounting to Ksh. 42.21 billion. The VP also urged the Chinese government to consider a bilateral arrangement that will make it possible for Kenya to benefit from a recent debt relief. The Chinese government had recently made a commitment to write off debts in the form of all interest free government loans owed by Africa's Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) and the Least Developed Countries (LDC) that have diplomatic ...
www.ntv.co.ke The government has received 3.97 billion shillings from the African Development Bank towards the interconnection of her electrical grids with Uganda's. The funding is the initial step of a plan that will eventually see Kenya receive power all the way from the Democratic Republic of Congo's Hinga Dam. The massive regional grid interconnection plan is part of the Nile Equatorial Lakes Countries project that seeks to enable Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo to share electricity.
The government will continue partnering with Non GovernmentalOrganizations (NGO) to fight poverty, provision of education and health care among other needs, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has said. a successful technical ascent of Point Peter on Mount Kenya! Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second-highest in Africa, after Kilimanjaro (which I was fortunate to climb in 2005 with my good friend Rodrigo). It is considered the most technically challenging mountain on the African continent. The highest peaks of the mountain are Batian (5199 metres (17057 ft)), Nelion (5188 metres (17021 ft)) and Point Lenana (4985 metres (16355 ft). Due to a freak blizzard that rolled through in an unlikely time of the year, the snow & ice prevented from us from climbing Batian which was the objective. Nonetheles, we were able to climb Point Lenana and Point Peter which were amazing! Mount Kenya is located in central Kenya, just south of the equator (the only mountain in the world on the equator with consistent glacier), around 150 kilometres (93 mi)) north-northeast of the capital Nairobi. Mount Kenya is the source of the name of the Republic of Kenya. Mount Kenya is a stratovolcano created approximately 3 million years after the opening of the East African rift. It was covered by an ice cap for thousands of years. This has resulted in very eroded slopes[5] and numerous valleys radiating from the centre. There are currently 11 small glaciers. The forested slopes are an important source of water for much of Kenya. There are eight vegetation bands from the base to the summit. The lower slopes are covered by different types of forest. Many species are endemic to Mount ...

He said the reform effort has also embraced and institutionalized new and emerging practices in education including distance, open learning, space education and E-learning in an effort to increase access to university education in the country. The then opposition politician Mr. Mwai Kibaki is praising Kenyan cartoonist Maddo for his work in this video originally broadcasted on show 'Africa Journal' in 1997. They say god made man, man-made money, and money made man mad. They say god made man, man-made money, and money made man mad. Looking for proof? Search no further than the tenth parliament of the republic of Kenya. Having watched an advertisement on TV, which talks of more money, the mps decided to make it real. That is proving a hard nut to crack and as Emmanuel Juma reports on Bull's-eye, this latest tug of war is bringing out the worst and the best in some.

On 31 March 2010, Pre-Trial Chamber II, by majority, granted the Prosecutors request to commence an investigation on crimes against humanity allegedly committed in the Republic of Kenya. The Republic of Kenya ratified the Rome Statute on 15 March, 2005 becoming a State Party on 1st June 2005. According to the Rome Statute, the Court may exercise its jurisdiction in situations where the alleged perpetrator is a national of a State Party or where the crime was committed in the territory of a State Party. On 6 November 2009, the Presidency of the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a decision assigning the situation in the Republic of Kenya to Pre-Trial Chamber II composed of Judges Ekaterina Trendafilova, Hans-Peter Kaul and Cuno Tarfusser. If the Prosecutor intends to commence an investigation proprio motu in the Kenyan situation, he must first obtain authorisation from this Chamber. That is what the Prosecutor sought for on 26 November 2009 filing his request together with 39 appended annexes in approximately 1500 pages. To read the Pre-Trial Chamber II decision: www.icc-cpi.int
The Republic of Kenya is a country in East Africa. Lying along the Indian Ocean, at the equator, Kenya is bordered by Ethiopia (north), Somalia (northeast), Tanzania (south), Uganda plus Lake Victoria (west), and Sudan (northwest). The capital city is Nairobi. The population has grown rapidly in recent decades to nearly 38 million. Kenya has numerous wildlife reserves, containing thousands of animal species. The country is named after Mount Kenya, a significant landmark and the second among the highest mountain peaks of Africa, and both were originally usually pronounced /ˈkiːnjə/ in English, though the native pronunciation and the one intended by the original transcription Kenia was. During the presidency of Jomo Kenyatta in the 1960s, the current English pronunciation of /ˈkɛnjə/ became widespread because his name retained the native pronunciation. Before 1920, the area now known as Kenya was known as the British East Africa Protectorate and so there was no need to mention mount when referring to the mountain. ( source Wikipedia )
