He previously raced in the Manx Grand Prix between 1978 and 1980 where his best place was runner-up in the 1980 Senior. His first TT netted him a retirement in the Junior 250 and a 19th place in the Senior along with his first Bronze Replica. Gaining his first Silver Replica in 1982 for fourth place in the 250 race, the Ulsterman collected a further Bronze for ninth in the Senior. 1983 was a year to be forgotten three starts resulted in three dnfs The following year was not quite as bad with two finishes out of four races - third in the 250 and fourth in the Senior. 1985 once again proved to be a disappointing year with three retirements and a 21st in the Senior. Fortunes were to change twelve months later, as the Banbridge man took his first victory in the Formula Two race. He held the lead from start to finish with a new race record of 109.72 mph and a new lap record at 117.5 mph. His joy was short lived however, for a spill at Ballaugh Bridge during the Junior Race put him out for some weeks. Mukesh Chandra Mathur was born in a small middle class family in Delhi on July 22, 1923. He was interested in acting and singing right from childhood and was a great fan and admirer of KL Saigal. In spite of the fact that he only studied till the 10th grade, he was able to obtain a good job as an assistant surveyor in the department of public works, where he worked for seven months. However fate had other plans for him. While in Delhi Mukesh had recorded some non-film songs secretly. Then, Mukesh was bitten by the Bombay bug like scores of other young people before and after him. He arrived in Bombay with the hope of becoming a movie star. He stayed with his relative the famous actor Motilal. With Motilal's help, Mukesh got a role as an actor in the film Years later, he was to act again in Raj Kapoors Aah in 1953. His debut as a singer however came in the film Nirdosh with the song 'Dil Hi Bujha Hua..', then followed a duet with singer Kusum for the film Us Paar the song was 'Zara Boli Ri Ho..'. He later went on to sing the song 'Badariya Baras Gayi Us Paar..' with Khursheed in the film Moorti. By this time he had established a small place for himself in the hearts of his audience. Then came an important milestone in his life. The year was 1945 and Anil Biswaas asked him to record the song 'Dil Jalta Hai To Jalne De..' for the film Pehli Nazar. That song brought a still relatively unknown Mukesh to the altar of public fame. A legend was born and in the coming decades his ...

www.rccartips.com - Just reminiscing, here is the first A main of the M-Chassis class in the Tamiya Asia Cup 2004. My car is the black and white in 10th position on the grid. After 3 mains I finished 7th overall. Was happy with my result given this was my first overseas international race. The M04 chassis is really at home on carpet track and was faster than the M03. Here we were still using Sport Tuned motors with Tamiya 1600SP handout batteries. I have just finished rebuilding my M04 and will enter it in the 2009 Futaba Cup on 5 Dec 2009. Of all the minis, the M04 is my favorite being rear wheel drive. Unfortunately M04 has been banned by Tamiya in the international Tamiya Cup races.

Shortly after the Duchess of Sutherland had steamed south through Preston (see my video), 60163, Tornado arrived in Preston, welcomed by hundreds if not thousands. After decoupling from the train she pulled out of the station and we wondered whether we'd seen the last of her. However, she reversed back in to take on water and gave us a second chance for close-up inspection. The large numbers of people made it difficult to take good photos or video but i found a great spot to get an unobstructed view. It may appear that I was trespassing on the trackside - I wasn't! Beyond the end of the platform, outside the station, there was a metal fence. I was able to reach both hands through for an unimpeded video of Tornado's departure and also use the rigidity of the fence to take some 1 second exposures - the best of which I've included in this clip. Unfortunately, the awkwardness of my position did result in my final video clips appearing as if the train was falling off the station!
Who are the Gurkha? The Gurkha are the fame Unit in the British and the Indian armed forces. Gurkha are also serving in the Singapore and Brunei forces. The Gurkha are formed by Indo-Mongoloid men from Nepal namely from Magar, Gurung, Rai and Limbu communities. Neolithic tools found in the Kathmandu Valley indicate that people have been living in the Himalayan region for at least 9000 years. The foremost settlers in this region was the Indo-Mongoloid people who are termed as "Kiratas" in Veda and other ancient literature. In Sanskrit, Kirata means native of the land with "kiram atati bhramati yah" or one wandering over the forests. Kiratas are first mentioned in the Yajurveda (Shukla XXX.16; Krisha III.4,12,1), and in the Atharvaveda (X.4,14), describing them as "mountain people and hunters in the forests and deadly warriors." In Manu's Dharmashastra (X.44) they are mentioned as degraded Kshatriyas, which meant that they were considered to be of advanced civilization, but outside the ambit of Brahminical influence. Kiratas are also mentioned in ancient Greek history, Chinese history and Holy book of Sikh Guru Nanak. The Greeks had known the Kirats by the name of Kirhadai. The last remnant of the ancient Kiratite or Cherethite tribe was found recorded in the book of 2 Samuel, 15 - 18. They were a martial tribe during the reign of the Syrian King David in 1049 BC. Kiratas appearance in vedic literature is described as gold-like, ie, yellow in color in skin color with the ...

200 years ago the passing act authorising the building of the Lydney and Lidbrook Railway on the 10th June 1809. So it was party time down the Dean Forest Railway. To celebrate this anniversary the DFR held a celebration gala which was to consist of 3 Brach line engines. GWR 'Small Prairie' number 5521 was planned to visit the dean forest after her long term holiday to Poland. But sadly the NRM said no and a new locomotive had to be found. The result was LSWR 2-4-0WT 'Beattie Well Tank' number 30587 which is normally based at Bodmin & Wenford Railway. The other locomotives to run was DFR resident BR(W) 0-6-0PT Pannier Tank number 9681 and resident BR 0-6-0DH Class 14 Diesel 'Teddy Bear' number D9521 which was based at the Barry island railway until it closed in January this year. The day was to consist of all 3 engines sharing the goods set Auto train and the three Mk1 coaches. But mainly 9681 was on the mk1s and 30587 on the auto coach 178. One of the highlights of the day was when the Pannier Tank and Beattie Well Tank Double headed a round trip on the railway. The teddy was left with the dogfish ballast train during the day. In this video we see various lineside shots of the 3 engines working hard and some general station shots. It was a fantastic day out and I would like to thank jbtevans, gjdobbzy, theonlyadsrulz and jamielw143.Thanks lads for making this great day happen, Trains We Rode On Were - 1040 Lydney Jcn-Parkend with 9681 1522 Norchard HL-Lydney Jcn with ...
2009 marks the 200th year that a Bill was signed by Parliament to allow the Lydney & Lidbrook Railway to be built on the 10th June 1809. The following year then saw the company change its name to the 'Severn & Wye Railway & Canal', which the DFR was once part of. To celebrate this landmark, the Dean Forest Railway held a gala using three branchline engines. Originally it had been planned for GWR 'Small Prairie' number 5521, who has been in Poland since April 2007, to star, but when the NRM asked her owner, Bill Parker, for the locomotive not to leave York another engine had to be sourced. Bill was disappointed as well as many DFR volunteers, so tried his best to get a NRM loco to the Friendly Forest Line. The Result was vintage LSWR 2-4-0WT 'Beattie Well Tank' number 30587, normally based on the Bodmin & Wenford Railway. The engine ran alongside resident BR(W) 0-6-0PT Pannier Tank number 9681 and new resident BR 0-6-0DH Class 14 Diesel 'Teddy Bear' number D9521, who was based at the now closed Barry Island Railway in South Wales up until January this year. The engines shared duties with the Beattie Well Tank mainly hauling GWR Autocoach 178, but for one round trip teamed up with 9681 for a double headed return run. The Pannier was mainly hauling a set of Mk1 coaches but did run with the demo freight train, made up of 'Dogfish' wagons that ran on the line taking ballast from Whitecliff Quary. D9521 hauled this mainly as 'Teddy Bears' where a common site in the 60s on the ...
