Exclusive! Prizes were presented by Patrick Wolf, Ingrid Z, Craig Template and Gabriella, with the video presented by Larry McGinity, at The Glitzy Hackney Wood Awards Ceremony at the Residence Gallery, London. Robert Hawkins received the Critic's Choice Award and the Art Market Prize, while furniture designer turned artist Donna Walker clinched the coveted People's Choice Award. Shortlisted artists also included Geraldine Ryan, Laura May Lewis and Jonas Ranson. The Judging Panel consisted of Alex Chappel, who also made this video, David C. West, Cathy Lomax from Transition Gallery, Tom Jeffreys from Spoonfed, and Cherie & Simon from Elevator Gallery.
This is my first International Award-Winning Song, a collaboration with Jay Gomez, and performed by Reuben Laurente. In 2003, the song won First Prize in the World Category of the USA Songwriting Competition, the first Filipino and Asian Winner of the said Category. It was commercially (and internationally) released via the Compilation CD of the Competition. It was also given an International Achievement Award at the i7th Awit Awards, the Philippine counterpart of the Grammy Awards. Prior to all this, "Ikaw Ay Ikaw Pa Rin" emerged as one of the 12 Finalists of "Unang Pinoy Musika Awards (2001)". Caryn filmed my acceptance speech for the NCS Reuben award for "Best Magazine Illustration - 20009". She was unfamiliar with the new camera - which explains some of the avant garde camera angles she unintentionally used. She also didn't realize the camera cut off the end of my speech where I thank my mom. I'll have to recreate that part and post it. :)
