Mr. Scoutmaster was a popular movie in 1953 for 20th Century Fox. Much to the credit of its star Clifton Webb. Mr. Webb starred in many classic movies "Laura", and comedy's, The :Belvedere" Movie Series. "Cheaper by the Dozen". Also Co- starring in Scoutmaster was the great Edmund Gwen and Frances Dee( wife of star Joel McCrea). Jimmy Hawkins played Herbie Weber. Jimmy had just finished a TV pilot for Gene Autry's Flying A Productions entitled "ANNIE OAKLEY"...little did he know at the time he'd be working steady for the next 6 years (''53-'58 CBS). He played "TAGG OAKLEY".Course Hawkins was best know as Tommy Bailey in the classic movie "IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE". Also seen in this clip is Dee Aaker...sitting on the couch with Hawkins....(his brother Lee Aaker starred as Corporal Rusty in the TV series "Rin Tin Tin"). The snobby kid was played by Jimmy Moss and Herbie's sister, Louella, was Tina Thompson. The Mother was Sarah Selby. There is a little trivia connected to this movie.By 1980 Mr. Hawkins had become a Producer. He developed a MOW for NBC entitled "SCOUT'S HONOR" starring Gary Coleman. It was loosely based on Mr. Scoutmater. When Jimmy was looking around for a Director there was only one choice, Henry Levin, who directed Mr. Scoutmaster. He liked how Mr. Levin related to the kids in Scoutmaster and knew he'd be perfect to Direct Coleman and the cast of kids. The Adventures Of Rin Tin Tin was part of the Saturday Morning Line Up of kid shows during the 1960's. Rin Tin Tin first came to television in October 1954. It initially ran on the ABC network, produced by Screen Gems, the television subsidiary of Columbia. There were 166 episodes filmed from 1954 to 1959. CBS picked up the syndicated package and began including the show in its Saturday morning line up in 1959 until they pulled it in 1964.

The other shots in the episode were filmed at Helfer's former Vasquez Rocks property. Two weeks later, the production returned to film segments of "Arena" at Vasquez Rocks in mid-November of 1966. "The Alternative Factor" was filmed immediately afterward in late November of 1966. The last "Star Trek" episode filmed there was "Friday's Child" in May of 1967. Selected episodes of "Bonanza" were filmed at Vasquez Rocks over the 60's and 70's that include "Between Heaven and Earth", "Alias Joe Cartwright", "Ride the Wind","The Last Mission", "The Thirteenth Man", "Sound of Drums", "Erin", "Old Friends", "The Wagon" and "Shadow of a Hero".
