Cable is an embittered Confederate soldier who returns from the war to reclaim his Arizona homestead from rebel pioneers who sympathize with the Union war effort. Desperate to rebuild the life he once knew, Cable ultimately joins forces with Vern Kidston, his Union adversary to make a last stand for the one thing worth fighting for -- his family. Born in New Orleans in 1930, Parker was a seasoned live and studio musician by the time he hit the charts. He had gigged and recorded with Professor Longhair, Huey Piano Smith (whos band was like a finishing school for Nola singers and musicians) and Earl King among others. He recorded his first sides as a leader for the Ron label in 1959, and over the next four years had records released by Imperial and Booker among others. It wasnt until he hooked up with NOLA Records in 1966 that he would cement his place in Soul history. Working with master New Orleans producer/arranger Wardell Quezerque, Parker would record eleven 45s and one LP (the only LP release by the label) from 1966 to 1968. His first, Barefootin b/w Lets Go Baby (Where the Action Is) (Nola 721) was a huge hit by any standard (especially in New Orleans) making it to #2 R&B and #7 pop in the summer of 1966. Both sides were upbeat dancers and remain popular with the Northern Soul crowd. Marked by Parkers smooth tenor and twangy guitar by New Orleans legend George Davis, Barefootin has been covered dozens of times since its initial release and has been utilized as a commercial jingle. The single was the biggest success that NOLA Records had seen (or would ever see) and their discography seems to indicate that they were pinning their hopes for continued national success on Parker. Ironically, Barefootin, which was recorded in 1965 sat in the can for a year because of ambivalence by NOLA. The success of the record ...
Bobby decided to return to his true passion, restaurant development. In April 1992, Bobby brought his ultimate vision to life, opening the original Race Rock in the suburbs of Detroit. The racing-themed restaurant was a museum for motorsports and a huge success. With a team of supporters including some of the top names in motorsports, Bobby decided to expand the concept of Race Rock to an international chain. Teaming up with racing greats Richard and Kyle Petty, Mario and Michael Andretti, John Force, Jeff Gordon, Rusty Wallace, Don Prudhomme, Scott Parker, Ernie Irvan and Geoff Bodine, Bobby opened the flagship Race Rock in Orlando on February 7, 1996, and it has already well exceeded all expectations. Future Race Rock locations under consideration include Las Vegas, New York, London, Tokyo and Brazil.
This is a better raw version of a take of "Confirmation" The Rhythm Strings Duo played on 26 February, 2010. There are no edits, besides that the original movie sound was replaced by a simultanously made recording of the same take, which has a better sound quality. Unfortunately we could do the filming only with one TZ7 that was in fixed position and set up. The Rhythm Strings Duo is Muneer B. Fennell: Six Striged Cello (plenty of strings) and Robert Jaroslawski: drums. The spirit of this take is certainly very traditional, though there are some subtleties to be discovered that make it a quite modern rendition of this great tune by Charlie Parker. A follow up video is planned with more detailed views of Muneer B. Fennels cello playing, but that'll take some time. Enjoy listening!

Robert Parker - Tip Toe [NOLA] Despite the huge number of quality soul, funk and R&B sides to come out of New Orleans studios in the 1960s, there werent too many that made a serious dent on the national charts (let alone the national consciousness). Whether this had to do with the uniqueness of Crescent City musicians or producers, or inherent problems with the taste of Americas radio listeners (probably a combination of both), few New Orleans soul sides are as well remembered as Robert ...
