A tribute to my dad, Bob Zeitz, by Jill Zeitz McBride ZEITZ, ROBERT MERRILL, 81, of Birmingham, Ala., died on Monday, June 21, 2010. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 11 AM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham AL. Bob, a loving husband, father and grandfather, had a passion for jazz music and was a lifelong sports fan. He was known for his colorful personality and at times an even more colorful wardrobe. Originally from New Bedford, Mass., Bob lived in Sarasota, Fla. from 1972 to 1981 before moving to Birmingham. He spent the majority of his career in the movie industry as an executive for family-owned Zeitz Theaters, Redstone Management (now Viacom,) Suncoast Cinemas and eventually became the Vice President of Advertising for Birmingham-based Cobb Theaters (now Regal Cinemas.) He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joyce Zeitz, and his five children: Jill Zeitz McBride (Bill) Cincinnati, Ohio; Jon "Ozzy" Zeitz (Amy) St. Paul, Minn.; Joshua Zeitz (Terre) Jackson, Miss.; Jamie Zeitz, Jacksonville, Fla.; and David Gosman (Donna) Boston, Mass.
