The 2012 Rock The Bells lineup, as well as locations for the yearly, multi-city music festival, have been announced. This year's Rock The Bells roster seems a bit less classic old-school, with a mix of veterans and newer acts set to hit venues in California and New Jersey. Headlining this year is a reunited Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, a group that once sat atop the charts, before separating, briefly reuniting, and separating again. The New Jersey stop is a change of pace for Rock The Bells, which will roll into PNC Bank Arts Center September 1 and 2. Among the lineup from the Tri-State area that will be able to hit up something of a home stage, Method Man & Redman, Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, Salt-N-Pepa, Prodigy, Naughty By Nature and Dipset. Also of note, a reunited Hit Squad is slated to appear on all dates, featuring EPMD, Redman, Das Efx, K-Solo and Keith Murray. The biggest name from the New York hip hop world, Nas, listed as a top biller alongside artists like Kid Cudi and Wiz Khalifa. New York-based, non-New York-sounding A$AP Rocky is also scheduled to rock the bells, as is fiery MC/activist Immortal Technique. RZA will share hosting duties alongside frequent host Supernatural.

It's official, Guerilla Union has announced the line-up for their 2012 Rock The Bells Festival Series, revealing headliners Kid Cudi, J. Cole, Wiz Khalifa, Atmosphere, and special guests Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Via an invite-only launch party at Los Angeles' House Of Blues venue on the iconic Sunset Strip Tuesday (May 15), veteran freestyler MC Supernatural took the stage for their annual tradition, in which he revealed this year's line-up while freestyling (off the dome). Also during the launch party/press conference, Guerilla Union founder Chang Weisberg revealed that the annual music festival has expanded to two-day runs in four major North American markets. Things kick off in Bernardino, Calif. on August 19 and 20 at the NOS Events Center. It will then head to Mountain View, Calif. (Bay Area) on August 25 and 26 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre. "Rock The Bells" was the third single from LL Cool J's debut album, "Radio". It was released in 1985 for Def Jam Recordings, was written by LL Cool J and produced by Rick Rubin. "Rock The Bells" peaked at #17 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Despite the song's title, no bells can be heard in the album recording. The song was later sampled by LL Cool J himself for his song "Mama Said Knock You Out", from his album of the same name. The song is widely regarded as a classic by many in the hip-hop community. Eminem, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and The Roots performed "Rock The Bells" on the VH1 Hip-Hop Honorsprogram as a tribute to Def Jam Recordings, and several artists, including Eminem and Goodie Mob, have referenced the song in their own songs. "Radio" was the debut album of American rapper LL Cool J, released November 18, 1985 on Def Jam Recordings in the United States. It serves as the label's first full-length album release. Recording sessions for the album took place during 1984 to 1985 at Chung King House Of Metal in New York City. The album was primarily produced by Rick Rubin, who provided a sparse and minimal production style."Radio" also features a sound that is punctuated by DJ scratching, mostly brief samples, and emphasis of the downbeat.
