Lakers: 88 Rockets: 79 Current record: (28-6) next game: (1/6) @ Clippers Pau Gasol is out injured, Kobe Bryant's finger was killing him and Andrew Bynum rose above it all in the post. Bynum scored 11 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter when the Los Angeles Lakers rallied to beat the Houston Rockets 88-79 on Tuesday night for their fourth consecutive victory. Without injured Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady, the Rockets didn't have the size to contend with the defending NBA champions. Bynum continued his string of consistent performances, more necessary than ever until Gasol returns from a strained left hamstring. "I got a lot more touches, I was aggressive and good things happened for me," Bynum said. "I got my touch back around the rim, shots started falling for me and it just got easier from there." Bryant added 22 points despite an aching finger on his shooting hand, but had just three field goals in the second half when he picked up four fouls. Lamar Odom came up one assist shy of his 13th career triple-double, with 17 points and 19 rebounds in Gasol's absence despite a bout of gastroenteritis. "That was a monster game by him," Bynum said. Odom jokingly advised reporters afterward to "interview at your own risk" before admitting he felt better than a day earlier when he missed practice. "I take pride in being a strong sixth man," he said. "I feel like when I have a good rebounding game I play better." Two nights after their highest-scoring game of the season, a 131-96 ...

The Rockets took advantage of the Lakers sluggish second half and outhustled the defending champs, winning convincingly, 101-91, at Staples Center Sunday. Houston guard Aaron Brooks had a career-high 33 points on 10-for-22 from the field, including five 3-pointers.

Back to Back horrible losses for the Lakers , and just a disaster , they shot like 36% from the floor , just awful , Kobe again had a really bad game , Ariza locked him down , Brooks had a carrer night with 33 points , the Lakers just didnt get the ball to Andrew who had a mismatch all game long , they just forced up bad shots for no reason , as a result Houston outrebounded Lakers 60-38 , enough said , a losing streak is born !! Lakers lose 91-101 to the Houston Rockets trevor got his ring and the lakers played like crap again kobe was awful from the field (5-20 FG) for 18 points. He would leave the game in the 4th due to a groin injury. Phil Jackson is a total idiot for starting Derek Fisher in this game. He simply cannot effectively guard Aaron Brooks at all. He should have already learned that from last years playoff series that this was a poor matchup for us. If Farmar did not start game 3 in houston (because ...
11-15-2009 - Rockets vs. Lakers - Trevor Ariza Receives Championship Ring (SD)
Date: November 4, 2009 Toyota Center, Houston,TX Full Boxscore: www.nba.com Wednesday's game at Toyota Center was played up as a matchup between the Rockets' Trevor Ariza and the Lakers' Ron Artest, a pair of free agents who swapped teams in the offseason. Oh, and the Lakers also had a guy named Kobe Bryant that drew a bit of attention. But what drew the sellout crowd of 18291 fans was far more compelling -- watching the NBA's loftiest example of aristocracy, the world champion Lakers, take on the league's most democratic team in the Rockets. Score another one for the upper class. The Lakers had to go overtime for the second consecutive night, but got 41 points from Bryant and key plays from Andrew Bynum to escape with a 103-102 victory over the Rockets. Kobe scored 41 points on 15-30 shooting, Andrew Bynum added 17 points and 17 rebounds and the Lakers beat the Houston Rockets 103-102 Wednesday night for their second overtime win in two nights. JD2K highlights in HD! A very very ugly game overall for the Lakers.. but they were extremely fortunate to still win in Overtime 101-98. They had a whooping 26 turnovers. The bench played very poorly only scoring 6 points the entire game. The lakers got off to a hot start in the first quarter with 85% shooting and jumped out to an early double digit lead, but from then on they cooled off dramatically. In the second half, it was a close contest, each team exchanging the lead back and forth. The thunder very well could have won this game but they made crucial mistakes in the clutch...Kevin Durant had a chance to win the game in the end but he airmailed the shot...sending the game into OT. In OT, Kobe connected on a turnaround jumper from the left side with 2:29 to play to give the defending NBA champions a 99-97 lead and then hit two free throws with 18 seconds remaining to push the lead to three. The Thunder had two chances to tie it late, but Thabo Sefolosha and Russell Westbrook each missed 3-pointers surrounding a pair of missed free throws by Lamar Odom. Kobe was under the weather but still managed to score 31 points but on 9-22 shooting. Ron Artest scored 20 points on 6-8 shooting and Andrew Bynum scored 22 on 10-15 shooting. Right? Wrong. Aaron Brooks scored a career-high 34, Shane Battier sank five 3-pointers and added 23 and the Rockets beat the Lakers 99-87 on Sunday to even their Western Conference semifinal at two games apiece. "I think everyone but us got the memo that we weren't supposed to show up today without Yao,'' Battier said. Luis Scola had 11 points and 14 rebounds as the Rockets got exactly the team effort they needed after Yao broke his left foot in the Lakers' win in Game 3. Game 5 is Tuesday night in Los Angeles, and anyone who thought the Rockets were finished without their best player only needed to watch the first quarter on Sunday, when Houston built a 29-16 lead. The Rockets never trailed and led by as many as 29 before the Lakers made the score respectable toward the end. "I'm not surprised,'' said Battier. "It almost sounds cliche, but we're a resilent group. We talk about bouncing back. Through adversity, through lineup changes, through trades, through injuries, we've never quit and we've never stopped believing.'' Brooks, in his second NBA season, became Houston's starting ...
