By 2001, the threesome signed to Elektra Records where Dolla met then unknown singer, Akon, who was producing for the label. Dolla was killed on May 18th, 2009 while he and another rapper, DJ Shabbazz, waited outside the Beverly Center in Los Angeles after a shopping trip.
