Gods Angel Roderick Anthony Burton II.
Young rapper Dolla once told his brother, rapper Will Scrapp DeLeon Robinson, that he didnt fear death. And that when it comes, he wanted people to wear white and celebrate his life, Robinson told hundreds of mourners Saturday at Dollas funeral service. Thus many of the hundreds of people who came to the Word of Faith Love Center in East Point donned white clothing and draped glittering white scarves around their heads. They somberly filed past Dollas body, wrapped in cream-colored fabric. Dollas funeral was held Saturday in East Point. Dolla (Rapper) — Born: November 25, 1987 (1987-11-25) (age 21) Chicago, Illinois, He looks like royalty, said Dr. Regina Naasirah Blackburn, who works with the Temple of Hip Hop, an organization that she said works to rescue hip hop from violence. Blackburn said she didnt know the rapper, born Roderick Anthony Burton II, but felt compelled to attend his funeral. Hes 21; his whole life was in front of him — I dont know why [Dollas shooter] thought he could solve his problems like that. The up-and-coming hip hop star died from gunshot wounds Monday afternoon outside the Beverly Center Mall in West Hollywood, Calif. Snellville resident Aubrey Louis Berry, 23, was arrested hours later at the Los Angeles International Airport and charged with Dollas murder. Berry, who has pleaded not guilty to murder and two counts of assault, remains in jail with bail set at $5 million. Los Angeles attorney Howard Price said Berry, his client, was acting in ...

Video in homage to Dolla Roderick Anthony Burton II (November 25, 1987[1] May 18, 2009) better known by his stage name Dolla, was an American rapper. Like Tupac Shakur before him, the 21-year-old Atlanta MC predicted his own death - a profound indictment on a musical culture riven by bloodshed. The pantheon of fallen rappers gained another member yesterday morning as 21-year-old Dolla, an Atlanta MC, was killed after a shooting in Los Angeles.
RIP Dolla Georgia Nights Full Story On His Death The attorney for an Atlanta man accused of killing rapper Dolla earlier this week said his client opened fire after feeling threatened by the rapper and his entourage during a chance encounter at the Beverly Center. Aubrey Louis Berry, 23, was arrested Monday at Los Angeles International Airport on charges of shooting Dolla, whose real name was Roderick Anthony Burton II, while he stood at the valet waiting area of the popular Westside shopping center. Police allege that Berry, a promoter who had an altercation with Burton at an Atlanta strip club earlier this month, fired at Burton, 21, and two people who were with him. "This is not a murder case," said Berry's attorney, Howard R. Price. "At worst it's a manslaughter case, at best it's a case of self-defense," he said. Los Angeles prosecutors disagreed, charging Berry on Wednesday with one count of murder and two counts of assault with a firearm. Police said that no other weapons were recovered from the scene and that Burton was unarmed. A judge set bail at $5 million. "Our prosecutors believe the evidence was sufficient for a murder filing," said Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney's office. "We try our cases in the courtroom, not on the sidewalk." Price said Berry and Burton clashed at the Platinum 21 Adult Entertainment club in Atlanta. Berry and Burton happened to run into each other Monday in the restroom of PF Chang's China ...
Dolla may only be 21 but his age shouldn't fool you. Unlike most MC's these days, Dolla, born Roderick Anthony Burton II, began his musical journey in his early teens. Forming a group called Da Razkals Cru with friends Scrappy and Sas, a 12 year-old Dolla rapped in showcases around his Atlanta, Georgia hometown. Eventually, the group caught the attention of both Missy Elliott and P. Diddy however those two weren't the only executives interested. By 2001, the threesome signed to Elektra Records where Dolla met then unknown singer, Akon, who was producing for the label. "I've known Akon and his brother, Bu, since I was 12 and we've stayed cool," says Dolla. Living back and forth between Los Angeles and Atlanta, the MC modeled for Diddy's clothing line, Sean John, and his image garnered a towering billboard. Unfortunately, Elektra came to an end several years later and Da Razkals Cru was released from their contract in 2003. Dissolving the group and going their separate ways, Dolla returned to Atlanta and focused on a solo career. "I was disappointed but all that made me do was work harder," says Dolla. "It was a stepping stone." Continuing to pen lyrics, the teen shopped his ghostwriting skills to signed and unsigned artists alike. While making the rounds, Dolla ran into former Elektra acquaintance, Akon. The Senegalese singer was now a multi-platinum artist looking to expand his own Konvict Muzik roster. Meanwhile, Dolla linked with his current manager to form their own ...
Man charged in Atlanta rappers death claims self-defense Snellville man could get life in prison The alleged shooter of Atlanta rapper Dolla was formally charged with murder Wednesday in Los Angeles, though his lawyer said the Snellville music promoter was acting in self-defense. Aubrey Louis Berry, 23, also faces felony assault charges for shooting at the rappers cousin, Wilbert Robinson, and Sidiq Abawi, a friend and recording partner. Both men escaped the gunfire that killed Dolla, born Roderick Berry, who was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport carrying a loaded 9mm handgun, faces life in prison if convicted. Investigators are still trying to determine a motive, one that might trace back to Atlanta. Robert Bull Shaw, manager of Platinum 21 Adult Entertainment, said Dolla was involved in an altercation at the strip club roughly two weeks ago. It was over before it started, said Shaw, who doesnt know Berry. No one seems to know who [Berry] is. Berrys attorney, Howard R. Price, told reporters in Los Angeles that it was a coincidence that the two men flew to the same city and ate at the same restaurant (PF Changs China Bistro) on the same date and time. Price accused Burton and his entourage of being affiliated with the Crips street gang. Burtons stepfather, George Viera, said Dolla was merely a character — not a real-life thug. To us he was just Roddy, said Viera, married to Dollas mother, Dawnee Robinson Viera, for three years. When he was home, you couldnt ...

A young rapper in the spring of youth, on the verge of success, is shot in the head in a valet lot outside an upscale mall in Los Angeles. What lessons are being taught? What's being learned? The killer was a young man from Snellville, Georgia. Did he murder Young Dolla ... over words, and an altercation in the mall? Is life so cheap? What are we doing for, and to, our posterity? We must be courageous examples.
