Biola celebrated its third annual National Women's History Month celebration by honoring four "Biola pearls." On March 25, 2010 Biola hosted the third annual Ruby Slippers Banquet and Ceremony. The evening was the final event in Biola's National Women's History Month Celebration entitled, "Pearls in Process: Celebrating the Creativity of Women." The ceremony featured a special keynote address by author and inspirational speaker Christian DiMari, as well as the third annual Biola Ruby Awards. The evening began with an intimate banquet hosted by Biola's First Lady, Paula Corey. Corey interviewed each of the Ruby Award recipients, giving guests the opportunity to learn about their lives, giftings and role models. Following the banquet, the Biola community gathered in Sutherland Auditorium for the Ruby Slippers Ceremony. Karin Jantz, Biola alum and Board spouse, served as the emcee for the evening. Dr. Marla Campbell, Biola Intercultural Studies professor and emcee of the very first Ruby Slippers Luncheon in 2008, presented the Priscilla Award for Teaching and Mentoring to Dr. Joanne Jung, Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies and Spiritual Formation. The truth is stranger than fiction. And, there were actually several pairs of ruby slippers used for the movie , The Wizard of Oz. This is actually the final of a 5-part documentary. However, the entire finale to the film belongs to these final 3 minutes. And, since most of you morons have such a short attention span, I figured it could only hold your interest for 3 minutes. (please, pardon my French). But, it would be better to watch all 5 parts. But, I already know, you'll skip to the end. And, This clip IS the finale. It shows how many Ruby Slippers existed. and, exactly what happened to them..
this documentary discovers how many Hollywood treasures were saved from destruction. The most important was the Ruby Slippers from The Wizard of Oz. Interestingly, they were originally supposed to be Silver. Plus, there were many other costumes from Hollywood's Golden era.
this is a real life magical quest which leads us into old warehouses & back-lots of Hollywood studios. and, it leads us to the famed Magic Slippers from The Wizard of Oz. this is part 1 of 5
This is an original song I wrote that was inspired by Somewhere Over the Rainbow as preformed by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole **LYRICS** It is like every day is the same, another grey day full of rain At least that is how she feels inside She can't feel the sun's warm light She never asked much No, she never asked much No, she never asked much for help Though her daddy hurt her, and her mama didn't care No, she never asked much for help She never cried out though it hurt so bad No, she never cried out for help Though the pain inside got worse with everyday No, she never asked much for help At night is when she feels the best When she can't be seen by the rest That's why she wears dark clothes and her hair to the side: She just wants to hide The moon stays by her side It is her only friend tonight She curls up by the window and cries in pain As her daddy yells her name and she says, "Someday I'll wish upon a star Wake up where the clouds are far behind me Where troubles melt like lemon drops High above the chimney tops Thats where, you'll find me," So she climbs to the roof to escape the screaming sits down and huddles up tight Starts thinking of her favorite song Knowing that everything is going to be alright And she sings, "Somewhere over the rainbow Way up high And the dreams that you dream of Once in a lullaby," She never returned the next day She packed her bags and ran away All that was left on the rooftop in the morning Were red ruby slippers and a note that said, "Someday ...
I made these ruby slippers, and it was my first time ever attempting something like this. They are so amazing in person! :)
My Replica Ruby Slippers.. I just finished making these. :) I made them in memory of my great aunt, who passed away earlier this year. They're going to be donated to a library, and will be on display in the children's books section. I'm starting on another pair right now, that are much closer to the shape of the originals. Hope you like them!

I wrote this awhile ago, but I'm starting up my YouTube videos again. This might go in my guitar album...if I ever end up finish finalizing any songs. Would love feedback and thoughts. Obviously it has Wizard of Oz references. Lyrics below: Ruby slippers on my feet They cant seem to take me home Howd I end up so deep? To feel so alone? Every time I seem to walk The further I get behind Every time I seem to run Im running out of time Am I buried beneath a house On the yellow brick road? Did someone write my fate And I wasnt told? Im not ready to be dead yet Still looking out for home. I wish it were as easy As the click clack of my heels That the road was drawn out for me Like a used textbook deal Am I walking on a winding Winding road Did someone take the street signs And I wasnt told I dont know anything yet Just that Im looking out for home. Am I made of straw Unwound, wont ever get far Do I have a mane Flinch in the sight of - pain I think Im made of tin Need a new heart to begin This ones battered and cold Need a new one to find hope Ruby slippers on my feet Can you take me home
'There they are ... & there they'll stay'. Words from Glinda to the Wicked Witch Of The West about the Magical Ruby Slippers. But where are they really? The Witch wants them back ... Is she entlitled? ... or, is it 'finders-keepers'? Listen to the Witch's threat & plea as the famous Magical Slippers are placed in thier Home At The Smithsonian. The Ruby Slippers were worn by Dorothy Gale, a character played by Judy Garland in the MGM film, "Wizard of Oz," 1939. ... In addition to its many other merits, the MGM movie ranks as a milestone in the history of Technicolor because of its extensive color sequences set in the Land of Oz. The magical shoes, changed from the book's silver slippers to those with an iridescent red hue, were created by Gilbert Adrian, MGM Studios chief costume designer, and played a central role in the film ... Several pairs of slippers were made for the movie, a common practice with important costumes and props; this pair was worn by Garland in dance scenes. The felt on the soles muffled her dancing footsteps on the yellow brick road. Unlike most films, "The Wizard of Oz" has endured and even attained greater popularity as it was introduced to new generations of audiences through television. One explanation for the movie's lasting appeal to Americans is its central message: In pursuing what you need, you find that you already have it—an affirmation of the virtue of self-sufficiency. The Ruby Slippers were donated anonymously in 1979. The slippers are ...

My own version of the famous slippers. Already bought in a Shinny Red, we rubbed the gloss off the shoe so the hot glue would stick. The strap was useful as If you have very tiny feet like mine, normal open shoes fall off my feet within seconds. Each strand of sequins was glued on & took patience, I have more dorothy & cosplay photos on www.cosplay.com under nickname (Pink princess).

(Written at the end of June 2008) Lyrics written by Marina Fiedler: Here I am, so far away... And here I am, for not just the day...yeah, And i do miss youuuuuu I so want to kiss youuuuuu And if you\d ask me, I'd sure say I do. ooh There you are, back where I came from. With two bottles of whiskey and rum. There you are, back in your own world... And it makes me shiver, to think you\re seein' other girls. But I know you better, And you know me. You're my only shelter from the rain and the wind. And if it's true that you need me the way I need you, Then if i had ruby slippers, you know I'd wish to come home to you.. (guitar) Here I am, here in my own land Where the fellows, they stare at me. But they mean nothing, They all men nothing, I'm still here wishing.. you'd come to me. But you know me better to think me fallin for another man you know me better than to think I'm breezy like the Autumn wind I know if you could, I know that you would You wold use, your ruby slippers, on me.
