http://MySpace.com/SamHarrisMusic Brad Oscar is an American musical theatre actor known for his Broadway performances in musicals such as The Producers and Jekyll and Hyde. The former garnered him a Tony Award nomination. Oscar's Broadway debut was in the 1990 musical Aspects of Love as a swing. His next roles were in Jekyll and Hyde as Sir Peter, Archibald Proops, Barrow Boy, and Second Gentleman. His performance, however, in The Producers garnered him the most acclaim. Oscar started out as Nazi playwright Franz Liebkind, and was also understudy for Max Bialystock (one of the lead roles) and Roger De Bris. The role of Franz earned Oscar a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. After this success, he replaced Nathan Lane as Bialystock. In 2007, he originated the Bialystock role in the Las Vegas production at the Paris Casino. He has appeared in several productions at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. In 2005 he played "The Devil" (Mr. Applegate) in Damn Yankees, and in October 2006 he played "The Master of Ceremonies" in Cabaret. He has completed playing multiple roles, including "Lady Enid", in The Mystery of Irma Vep from June 2008 through July 13, 2008. Other regional work includes the title role in the musical Barnum, at the Asolo Repertory Theatre (Florida), from November 12, 2008 through December 20. An all-star cast — including Ana Gasteyer, Carolee Carmello and Adriane Lenox — will appear in an industry reading of the new musical First Wives Club Feb. 2 in Manhattan. With a book by Tony Award winner Rupert Holmes, direction by Francesca Zambello (The Little Mermaid, Little House on the Prairie) and a score by pop writers Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Eddie Holland, the new industry reading anticipates a summer world premiere at San Diego's Old Globe and a future Broadway bow. Gasteyer (Wicked, "Saturday Night Live"), Carmello (Mamma Mia!, Parade), Tony winner Lenox (Doubt, Caroline, Or Change), Brad Oscar (The Producers, Jekyll & Hyde), Alton Fitzgerald White (The Lion King, Ragtime), John Dossett (The Constant Wife, Gypsy), Sam Harris (The Producers, The Life) and Sara Chase (Godspell at Paper Mill Playhouse) are participating in the current reading. First Wives Club will have its premiere at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego July 15-Aug. 23. The cast for the fully staged production will be announced soon. The musical, based on the novel by Olivia Goldsmith and its later film version, represents a reunion for Motown songwriting trio Holland-Dozier-Holland (Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Eddie Holland). They created such hits as "Where Did Our Love Go?," "Baby Love," "Stop! In The Name of Love" and "How Sweet It Is (to Be Loved By You)." Librettist Holmes (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Say Goodnight Gracie, Curtains!) has "updated" the tale for the musical stage. According to the producers, "The popular 1996 Paramount film 'The First Wives Club' — about three divorced women who unite to turn their lives around for the better after being cast aside by their husbands for younger girlfriends — was based on Olivia Goldsmith's novel. The motion picture grossed over $130 million and boasted a star-studded cast comprising Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton." Other members of the creative and design team for First Wives Club include Lisa Stevens (choreographer), Ron Melrose (music director), Harold Wheeler (orchestrations), Zane Mark (dance arrangements), Peter J. Davidson (set design), Catherine Zuber (costume design) and Mark McCullough (lighting design). The musical will be produced on Broadway by Paul Lambert and Jonas Neilson, with a theatre and dates to be announced. Tickets to the San Diego run of First Wives Club are currently available by subscription by contacting the Globe Box Office at (619) 23-GLOBE or online at www.TheOldGlobe.Org. ------------------------------------- The NEW CD by Sam Harris, "Free" ... http://samharris.com/free -------------------------------------- http://AskSamHarris.com ... ask Sam anything, and he'll reply via a vlog. http://SamHarris.com/answers ... answer link from the "Ask Sam Harris" series. http://MySpace.com/SamHarrisMusic ... keep up to date, and be Sam's MySpace friend! http://SamHarris.com ... information, biography, discography and buy cds. http://MySpace.com/SamHarrisMusic http://fwcthemusical.com FIRST WIVES CLUB - NEW BROADWAY MUSICAL The musical stage version of the film, "The First Wives Club A New Musical" is scheduled to play at The Old Globe in San Diego from July 15, 2009 through August 23, 2009 prior to a Broadway engagement. The book is by Rupert Holmes with a score by Lamont Dozier, Brian Holland and Eddie Holland, and direction by Francesca Zambello. The creators and Zambello were engaged for the project in 2006. Lou Spisto, Executive Producer of the Tony Award®-winning Old Globe, is pleased to announce the world premiere of The First Wives Club — A New Musical, to be performed at the Old Globe Theatre July 15 August 23, 2009, as part of the Globes 2009 Summer Season. Based on the best-selling novel and Hollywood blockbuster of the same name, this Broadway-bound musical features a book by Tony winner Rupert Holmes (Curtains!, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Say Goodnight Gracie) and a score by Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Eddie Holland, the threesome who created hits for Martha and The Vandellas, The Miracles, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops and The Supremes. The production will be directed by award winning opera and theatrical director Francesca Zambello (The Little Mermaid for Disney on Broadway, Little House on the Prairie for the Guthrie Theatre, Rebecca at the Vienna Raimund Theatre and recently, Porgy and Bess and the Wagner Ring Cycle at the San Francisco Opera where she is the Artistic Advisor. Ms Zambello has won three Olivier Awards and has credits at The Metroplotan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Royal Albert Hall, Bolshoi, Paris Opera, The Kennedy Center and the Chicago Lyric.) The popular 1996 Paramount film The First Wives Club — about three divorced women who seek revenge on their former husbands — was based on Olivia Goldsmith's novel and featured a screenplay by Robert Harling. Marketing maven Paul Lambert and his producing partner Jonas Neilson will produce the musical. The hit film starred Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton, and grossed more than $130 million. They starred as Brenda, Elise and Annie, respectively, three women who aim to get their ex-husbands where it hurts most--the wallet. Between 1963 and the end of 1967, Holland-Dozier- Holland wrote many of Motowns hit singles, with Brian writing the music, Eddie writing the lyrics, and Lamont doing both. Their hits included Heat Wave, Quicksand, and Nowhere To Run for Martha and The Vandellas, Mickeys Monkey for The Miracles, and Can I Get a Witness, Your a Wonderful One, and How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You) for Marvin Gaye. For The Four Tops, they penned such songs as Baby I Need Your Loving, I Cant Help Myself, and Bernadette, while they wrote many of the Supremes biggest hits including Baby Love, Stop! In the Name of Love, I Hear A Symphony, and You Cant Hurry Love. Zambello--who will also be directing Disneys The Little Mermaid musical--was previously announced as a strong candidate to direct the musical, which is based on the Olivia Goldsmith novel and the hit 1996 film comedy it inspired. Holmes, who won two Tony Awards for writing the book and score of The Mystery of Edwin Drood, has joined the production as librettist, according to the LA Daily News. Zambello is renowned for her work staging both theatre and opera. Past productions include Lady in the Dark on the West End, West Side Story at the Bregenz Festival, Les Tryoens at the Metropolitan Opera and a Disney Theme Park staging of Aladdin. Holmes has also penned the book for the Broadwaybound Kander and Ebb musical Curtains. His many song hits include The Pina Colada Song, and he has also penned novels such as Where the Truth Lies and Swing. He also created the TV series Remember WENN. February 2 Young Artist Grant Benefit Concert Sonora High School Sonora, CA 95370 Tickets and more info: 209-532-5511 x112 http://www.myspace.com/toddschroeder http://toddschroeder.net ------------------------------------- "Mockingbird" is a 1963 song written and recorded by Inez and Charlie Foxx, covered about a decade later by Carly Simon and James Taylor in a 1974 single from Simon's Hotcakes album. The original single was billed to Inez Foxx with vocal accompaniment by her brother Charlie, as they traded off the lyric on a syllabic basis. Considered something of a novelty song, it was a big hit for Symbol Records, reaching number 2 on the U.S. R&B chart and number 7 on the U.S. pop singles chart in late 1963. In the UK the song was released the same year by Island Records as the company's first single on their Sue label. The Simon-Taylor remake, released on Elektra Records and featuring some additional lyrics credit by Taylor, was also quite the success, hitting number 5 on the U.S. pop chart in early 1974. A few years later it became a high point of the No Nukes film, as Simon began her part off-stage and then bounded on, trading notes all the time. Other versions have been instantiated by Dusty Springfield and in 2004 by country music artist Toby Keith, featuring his daughter, Krystal. Keith's version was a #27 on the Hot Country Songs charts that year. And now Sam Harris and Todd Schroeder attempt their first duet of the song. ------------------------------------- Lyrics: MOCKINGBIRD Inez & Charlie Foxx with additional lyrics by James Taylor Everybody have you heard She's gonna buy me a mockingbird And if that mockingbird don't sing She's gonna buy me a diamond ring And if that diamond ring won't shine He's gonna surely break this heart of mine And that's why I keep on tellin' everybody..... Hear me now and understand She's gonna find me some piece of mind And if that piece of mind won't stay I'm gonna find myself a better way And if that better way ain't so I'll ride with the tide and go with the flow And that's why I keep on shoutin' in your ear..... Everybody have you heard She's gonna buy me a mockingbird And if that mockingbird don't sing She's gonna buy me a diamond ring And if that diamond ring won't shine Gonna surely break this heart of mine And that's the reason why I keep on tellin' everybody... Listen now and understand She's gonna find me some piece of mind And if that piece of mind won't stay I'm gonna get myself a better way I might rise above, I might go below Ride with the tide and go with the flow And that's the reason why I keep on shouting in your ear... Sam Harris - Interview - SN - 1 of 9
► http://samharris.com/FF See a collection of Jayel's photography in a special music video slideshow we put together at: http://tinyurl.com/aheramHD Sam sings "Imagine" by John Lennon. "What I must do is all that concerns me, not what people think. ... you will always find people who think they know what is your duty better than you know it. It is easy to live in the world and live after the world's opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Self-Reliance" Jayel Aheram presents a collection of things seen, experienced, and lived while serving in the harsh deserts of Iraq and elsewhere. A unique view of events rarely seen in the nightly newscast, a point-of-view of one troop in a war zone and at home, and a glimpse of a vastly different and sometimes beautiful Iraq. For more information, please visit his web site at: http://www.aheram.com and his Flickr aacount at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/aheram Though known for his caustic wit and spontaneous charm, Jayel suffers from an overwhelming excess of personality. He is a compulsive writer and often writes for his blog: Aheram Takes On... http://aheram.blogspot.com He dabbles in art and video, but his main interest lies in photography. He is hopelessly addicted to the multi-player world of Zebedee LP MUD. He is a fierce advocate of free culture and a vocal opponent of overly strict copyrights. He adheres to Creativist principles and considers the pursuit of his own happiness a moral goal. He adores the color purple, butterflies, kittens, and strange beasts. He is a product of an international upbringing; at home anywhere from the land of the Rising Sun to the sun-scorched dunes where the ageless Euphrates roll. In Jayel's words... The Blogger I launched Aheram Takes On... in early 2005. The blog has been through two design changes, three coding overhauls, and five different purges. In its current incarnation, it is a chronicle of my creative spirit creating, making, and living; a celebration of things that I value and an insight to my creative process. I have been blogging on and off since 2000, but it was not a serious venture until early 2005 when I launched Aheram Takes On... It is part-art blog, part-journal, and mostly about me. It is nearly always all original content of my own creation, but I will occasionally feature deserving artists. The Photographer I am woefully ignorant of the history of photography and as much as I regret to say this, I cannot say I am influenced by any of the great pioneering masters like Ansel Adams and others. My work is neither an emulation of a particular style nor does it assume to present a specific policy. It is an exercise in extrospection, a documentary of the world and its people as I perceive it. Early 2005 was full of new beginnings for me. It included the launch of my first serious foray into blogging, my enlistment with the Marine Corps, and the adoption of a new hobby. I woke up one morning deciding that I needed something new to occupy my time, something creative. Painting first and then photography came to mind. My interest in photography was piqued partly by my friend Sachenka Brinkley, an amateur photographer. A Flickr account and a new camera later, a career was born. In February 2008, Cat's Eye became live. It is my professional gallery which I use to highlight selected works and portfolios. ---------------------------------------- Sam's NEW CD, "Free" ... ► http://samharris.com/free ► http://SamTUNES.net ... to download Sam Harris songs and full albums. ► http://MySpace.com/SamHarrisMusic ... keep up to date, and be Sam's MySpace friend! ► http://SamHarris.com ... information, biography, discography and buy cds. MORE INFO ► http://change.gov/agenda/civil_rights_agenda "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." -- Martin Luther King, Jr. President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden Support for the LGBT Community "While we have come a long way since the Stonewall riots in 1969, we still have a lot of work to do. Too often, the issue of LGBT rights is exploited by those seeking to divide us. But at its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans. It's about whether this nation is going to live up to its founding promise of equality by treating all its citizens with dignity and respect." -- Barack Obama, June 1, 2007 The Obama-Biden Plan ► Expand Hate Crimes Statutes: In 2004, crimes against LGBT Americans constituted the third-highest category of hate crime reported and made up more than 15 percent of such crimes. Barack Obama cosponsored legislation that would expand federal jurisdiction to include violent hate crimes perpetrated because of race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or physical disability. As a state senator, Obama passed tough legislation that made hate crimes and conspiracy to commit them against the law. ► Fight Workplace Discrimination: Barack Obama supports the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, and believes that our anti-discrimination employment laws should be expanded to include sexual orientation and gender identity. While an increasing number of employers have extended benefits to their employees' domestic partners, discrimination based on sexual orientation in the workplace occurs with no federal legal remedy. Obama also sponsored legislation in the Illinois State Senate that would ban employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. ► Support Full Civil Unions and Federal Rights: Barack Obama supports full civil unions that give same-sex couples legal rights and privileges equal to those of married couples. Obama also believes we need to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and enact legislation that would ensure that the 1,100+ federal legal rights and benefits currently provided on the basis of marital status are extended to same-sex couples in civil unions and other legally-recognized unions. These rights and benefits include the right to assist a loved one in times of emergency, the right to equal health insurance and other employment benefits, and property rights. ► Oppose a Constitutional Ban on Same-Sex Marriage: Barack Obama voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment in 2006 which would have defined marriage as between a man and a woman and prevented judicial extension of marriage-like rights to same-sex or other unmarried couples. ► Repeal Don't Ask-Don't Tell: Barack Obama agrees with former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff John Shalikashvili and other military experts that we need to repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. The key test for military service should be patriotism, a sense of duty, and a willingness to serve. Discrimination should be prohibited. The U.S. government has spent millions of dollars replacing troops kicked out of the military because of their sexual orientation. Additionally, more than 300 language experts have been fired under this policy, including more than 50 who are fluent in Arabic. Obama will work with military leaders to repeal the current policy and ensure it helps accomplish our national defense goals. ► Expand Adoption Rights: Barack Obama believes that we must ensure adoption rights for all couples and individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation. He thinks that a child will benefit from a healthy and loving home, whether the parents are gay or not. ► Promote AIDS Prevention: In the first year of his presidency, Barack Obama will develop and begin to implement a comprehensive national HIV/AIDS strategy that includes all federal agencies. The strategy will be designed to reduce HIV infections, increase access to care and reduce HIV-related health disparities. Obama will support common sense approaches including age-appropriate sex education that includes information about contraception, combating infection within our prison population through education and contraception, and distributing contraceptives through our public health system. Obama also supports lifting the federal ban on needle exchange, which could dramatically reduce rates of infection among drug users. Obama has also been willing to confront the stigma -- too often tied to homophobia -- that continues to surround HIV/AIDS. He will continue to speak out on this issue as president. Supported by a quartet of dynamic singer/dancers, Liza will perform musical hits (with the original vocal arrangements) from Thompson's act including such numbers as I Love a Violin, Clap Yo' Hands, Jubilee Time and Hello Hello---set to brand-new staging and choreography by Mr. Lewis. Accompanying her onstage will be Cortés Alexander, Jim Caruso, Tiger Martina and Johnny Rodgers. Sam starts this adventure with his friend Kristin Chenoweth, who share quite a bit in common. Currently staring in the hit ABC show "Pushing Daisies" http://tinyurl.com/PushingDaisiesABC and she has a new CD out for Christmas called "A Lovely Way To Spend Christmas". Available now!: http://tinyurl.com/KristinTunes For more info on Kristin, please visit: http://www.kristinchenoweth.com Kristin Chenoweth is an award-winning American singer and musical theatre, film and television actress. Chenoweth is a soprano known for her powerful singing technique. Chenoweth was born Kristi Dawn Chenoweth (she added an "n" in her first name later because she thought that "Kristin" was a more operatic name than "Kristi") in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and was adopted at birth. Chenoweth's ancestry includes one-quarter Cherokee lineage. After studying drama at Broken Arrow High School under Billie Sue Thompson, Chenoweth attended Oklahoma City University, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta (Beta Omicron) Sorority. She earned a bachelor's degree in musical theater and a master's degree in opera performance, studying under Florence Birdwell who taught Miss America 1981 Susan Powell and three-time Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara. While at OCU, Chenoweth won the title of "Miss OCU" and went on to win second runner-up in the Miss Oklahoma pageant in 1991. She also performed at Opryland USA. Chenoweth made her Broadway debut in a production of Molière's Scapin starring Bill Irwin, followed in the spring of 1997 by the musical Steel Pier by John Kander and Fred Ebb, for which she won a Theatre World award. The following season, she appeared in the City Center Encores! production of the George and Ira Gershwin musical Strike Up the Band and the Lincoln Center Theater production of William Finn's A New Brain. She has performed several times on the radio program A Prairie Home Companion. During the 19981999 season, she performed in the Broadway revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown as the title character's sister, Sally, a character that was not present in the original production. (That character replaces the obscure Peanuts character Patty, not to be confused with Peppermint Patty.) The production won Chenoweth the Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards as the season's Best Featured Actress in a Musical. She then starred in the Broadway comedy Epic Proportions, followed by appearances in ABC's television adaptation of the musical Annie (as Lily St. Regis), and in the leading role of Daisy Gamble in the City Center Encores! production of On a Clear Day You Can See Forever. In 2003, Chenoweth performed songs from her album Let Yourself Go in concert for Lincoln Center's 5th American Songbook. She also performed in City Center Encores! 10th Anniversary Bash. In London, she was involved in Divas at Donmar for director Sam Mendes, then appeared in the Actor's Fund Benefit Concert of the musical Funny Girl in New York City. In October 2003, Chenoweth returned to Broadway in Wicked, the smash hit musical about the early years of the witches of Oz. She was nominated for a Tony Award as Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her performance as Glinda. After playing Glinda for nine months (not including the years leading up to the Broadway run where she played the role in all of the show's workshops), Chenoweth left Wicked on 18 July 2004 along with co-stars Joel Grey and Norbert Leo Butz. Chenoweth was replaced by Jennifer Laura Thompson. ---------------------------------------- Sam's NEW CD, "Free" ... ► http://samharris.com/free ► http://SamTUNES.net ... to download Sam Harris songs and full albums. ► http://MySpace.com/SamHarrisMusic ... keep up to date, and be Sam's MySpace friend! ► http://SamHarris.com ... information, biography, discography and buy cds. Sam continues his discussion with TV and Film Director and Producer, Murad Aldin Amayreh. In part one, they started the subject of "72 Virgins" and it's symbolism to the Islam faith. Many of Murad's films focus on the subject of Islam and being Muslim, so we decided to have an in depth conversation to better understand what it is to be Muslim in America. We hope that you will take some time to view some of his work on his YouTube channel at: http://youtube.com/muradaldin In Islam, the ḥūr or ḥūrīyah (Arabic: حورية) are described as "(splendid) companions of equal age (well-matched)", "lovely eyed", of "modest gaze", "voluptuous", "pure beings" or "companions pure" of paradise, denoting humans and jinn who enter paradise after being recreated anew in the hereafter. There are graphical descriptions of physical pleasures in heaven. Islam also has a strong mystical tradition which places these heavenly delights in the context of the ecstatic awareness of God. The houri have variously been described as being "chaste females", "restraining their glances", "modest gaze", "wide and beautiful/lovely eyes", "untouched / with hymen unbroken by sexual intercourse", "like pearls", "virgins", "voluptuous/full-breasted", "with large, round breasts which are not inclined to hang", "companions of equal age", "non-menstruating/urinating/defecating and childfree", "60 cubits [27.5 meters] tall", "7 cubits [3.2 meters] in width", "transparent to the marrow of their bones", "eternally young", "hairless except the eye brows and the head", "pure", "beautiful", "white", "splendid" and much more besides. A Muslim (Arabic: مسلم) is an adherent of the religion of Islam. The feminine form of 'Muslim' is Muslimah (Arabic: مسلمة). Literally, the word means "one who submits to God". The word "Muslim" is the participle of the same verb of which "Islam" is the infinitive. Muslims believe that there is only one God, translated in Arabic as Allah. Muslims believe that Islam existed long before Muhammad and that the religion had evolved with time from the time of Adam till the time of Muhammad, and was completed with the revelation of verse 3 of Surah Al-Maeda" "This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion." The Qur'an describes many Biblical prophets and messengers as Muslim: Adam, Noah (Arabic: Nuh), Moses (Arabic: Musa) and Jesus (Arabic: Isa) and his apostles. The Qur'an states that these men were Muslims because they submitted to God, preached his message and upheld his values. Thus, in Surah 3:52 of the Qur'an, Jesus' disciples tell Jesus: "do thou bear witness that we are Muslims". Muslims pray five times a day; these five prayers are known as Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha. There is also a special Friday prayer called Jumu'ah. Most Muslims accept as a Muslim anyone who has publicly pronounced the Shahadah, which states, "There is none worthy of worship except God, and Muhammad is His Messenger." Currently, there are an estimated 1.4 billion Muslims, making it the second largest religion in the world. -------------------------------------- Sam Harris WAR ON WAR Music Video Contest! http://www.WarOnWar.INFO Over $6000 in CASH and PRIZES! She has also been magazine editor and continues to be a celebrity blogger, LGBT civil rights activist, television producer and collaborative partner in the LGBT family vacation company R Family Vacations. Raised Irish Catholic, O'Donnell lost her mother to cancer as a pre-teen and has consistently stressed values of protecting children and supporting families throughout her career. O'Donnell started her comedy career while still a teenager and her big break was on the talent show Star Search. A TV sitcom and a series of movies introduced the comic to a wider audience and in 1996 she started hosting The Rosie O'Donnell Show which won multiple Emmy awards. During her years on The Rosie O'Donnell Show she wrote her first book, a memoir called Find Me and developed a reputation for being "the queen of nice" as well as a reputation for charitable philanthropy. She used the book's $3 million advance to establish her own For All Kids foundation and promoted numerous other charity schemes and projects encouraging other celebrities on her show to also take part. O'Donnell came out officially as a "dyke" two months before finishing her talk show run, she cited her primary reason was to bring attention to gay adoption issues. O'Donnell is a foster — and adoptive — mother. She has since continued to support many LGBT causes and issues. In 2006 O'Donnell became the new moderator on The View boosting ratings and attracting controversies with her more liberal views and strong personality arguably dominating many of the conversations. She became a polarizing figure to many conservatives and her strong opinions resulted in several notable controversies including an on-air dispute regarding The Bush administration's policies with the war in Iraq resulting in her pre-maturely ending her contract. In 2007 O'Donnell also released her second memoir, Celebrity Detox, which focuses on her struggles with fame and her time at The View. She continues to do charity work and remains focused on LGBT and family-related issues. O'Donnell, the third of five children, was born in Bayside, Queens, New York, the daughter of Roseann Teresa (née Murtha), a homemaker, and Edward Joseph O'Donnell, an electrical engineer who worked in the defense industry. O'Donnell's father had immigrated from County Donegal, Ireland during his childhood, and her mother was Irish American; O'Donnell was raised Catholic. Four days before her 11th birthday on March 17, 1973, O'Donnell's mother died of breast cancer. O'Donnell was raised in Commack, New York. In high school, she began exploring her comic interest beginning with a high school skit in which she imitated Gilda Radner's character Roseanne Rosannadanna. After graduating, O'Donnell briefly attended Dickinson College, later transferring to, and then dropping out of, Boston University. http://www.Rosie.com ---------------------------------------- Sam Harris WAR ON WAR Music Video Contest! She won Star Search, she sings with Andrea Bocelli, she sang with Sam on the backgrounds for WAR ON WAR, and happens to be married to another very interesting person. We get to meet Simba, who's father, Mufasa recently went to the great ocean in the sky, we also catch a glimpse of Michael Jackson, Puff Daddy (or P. Diddy depending on his attitude), and then the great Don LaFontaine! They also talk about people in their lives like Oprah Winfrey, Andrea Bocelli and Stevie Wonder. The friends relive great memories of how they met on a stage show Sam wrote called "Hard Copy". At the close of the video, Nita sings YOU ARE MY FRIEND from her "LifeStories" CD. Groomed in gospel, trained in opera, honed in pop, Nita's voice is a remarkable instrument that's difficult to define. But when you hear her power chops and sweet high tones, you know you are in the presence of greatness. Pulling all these elements together, Nita has found a beautiful blend of music that soothes the soul on this her latest CD LifeStories showcasing her songwriting and producing abilities as well. A former Miss Louisiana, Nita took her southern roots, charm and show-stopping talent to Los Angeles were her incredible voice carried her to Female Grand Champion on "Star Search", after winning an unprecedented thirteen times. With a vibrant and dynamic stage presence that is unequaled, Nita is comfortable singing in any setting, from an intimate club to the arena stages. In 2005, she was the guest performer at The Freedom Awards honoring Oprah Winfrey, Rubie Dee and Paul Rusesabagnia. She sang duets with Andrea Bocelli during his 2006-2007 city Winter Tour. Nita often travels with Multi-Grammy winner David Foster as his featured artist (and one of his favorite singers) and her performances invariably end in standing ovations. She has performed and shared the stage with countless celebrities including Faith Hill, Celine Dion, Richard Marx, Josh Groban, Stevie Wonder and Yolanda Adams. Nita's current CD follows two other independent projects titled "Nita Whitaker" and "One Voice". ► http://NitaWhitaker.com ... Nita Whitaker Official Web Site! ► http://WarOnWar.INFO ... Bridget was born in Binghamton, and grew up in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, along with her two brothers, Andrew and Sean. She is the middle child. Her father is a scientist who is currently an administrator at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Her mother is a former school teacher and can be seen with her daughter in a 2005 Comcast cable company television advertisement for the Boston area. Moynahan attended Longmeadow High School and graduated in 1989. In high school, she was active in school athletics, participating in field hockey, basketball and lacrosse. She studied acting at the Caymichael Patten Studio in New York City. In 1999 she had her first big role (in a guest appearance) as Natasha in the TV series Sex and the City. Her breakthrough role in a feature film was as Rachel in Coyote Ugly a year later. Since then she has appeared on a number of blockbuster movies, such as The Sum of All Fears, The Recruit, Lord of War, and I, Robot. She most recently starred in the now cancelled television series Six Degrees. As a model she was on many magazine covers, including Elle, Vogue, Self, Fitness, New Woman and Glamour. However, she didn't begin to pursue acting until after starting her modeling career. She has appeared on Maxim's Hot 100 list, as well as on the list for Top 99 Women of 2007. Bridget gave birth to a baby boy, John Edward Thomas Moynahan, on August 22, 2007. Sam and Bridget attended classes to prepare for the birth and Sam acted as her birth partner through the labor and delivery. Look for Bridget in the new ads for Diamonair jewelry! The brand-new ad campaign reflects the celebrity jeweler's 40-year-old tradition, while giving a nod to iconic Hollywood glamour. Noted as pioneers of the simulated diamond, Diamonair jewelry can be found at Saks Fifth Avenue. "Bridget was a natural choice for the campaign. Her beauty transcends time, evoking memories of Fellini films and paying tribute to Diamonair's history and revival," Streetwise Capital Partners CEO KAREEM SETHI. Sam Harris sings Somewhere Over The Rainbow Over The Rainbow (Arlen-Harburg) Somewhere over the rainbow Way up high There's a land that I heard of Once in a lullaby Somewhere over the rainbow Skies are blue And the dreams that you dare to dream Really do come true Some day I'll wish upon a star And wake up where the clouds are far behind me Where troubles melt like lemondrops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me Somewhere over the rainbow Bluebirds fly Birds fly over the rainbow Why then, oh why can't I? Some day I'll wish upon a star And wake up where the clouds are far behind me Where troubles melt like lemondrops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me Somewhere over the rainbow Bluebirds fly Birds fly over the rainbow Why then, oh why can't I? If happy little bluebirds fly Beyond the rainbow Why, oh why can't I? ----------------------- "Over the Rainbow" is a popular song with music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg. It was written to showcase Judy Garland's talents in the star vehicle movie The Wizard of Oz, and it became her signature song. She would forever be called upon to sing it in all her public appearances. The song's plaintive melody and simple lyrics depict a pre-adolescent girl's desire to escape from the "hopeless jumble" of this world, from the sadness of raindrops to the bright new world "over the rainbow." It expresses the childlike faith that a door will magically be opened to a place where "troubles melt like lemon-drops". The song tops the "Songs of the Century" list compiled by the Recording Industry Association of America and the National Endowment for the Arts. It also topped the American Film Institute's "100 Years, 100 Songs" list. Along with Irving Berlin's "White Christmas", the song was adopted by the American troops in Europe in World War II as a symbol of the United States, the faraway land that, after long years of war, seemed like a dream beyond the rainbow. Modern listeners may be unaware that the song had an introductory stanza, as this was not sung in the film by Garland. The song has come to epitomize the gesture of the rising octave, which makes its opening so distinctive. Sight-singing instructors and other musicians use the song as an example and a reference point for hearing the interval. --- I AM NOT SAM HARRIS! Sam Harris sings Precious Lord and You'll Never Walk Alone on the talk show after the September 11th events. 9/11 Tribute. Precious Lord, take my hand Lead me on, let me stand I'm tired, I'm weak, I'm lone Through the storm, through the night Lead me on to the light Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home When my way grows drear precious Lord linger near When my life is almost gone Hear my cry, hear my call Hold my hand lest I fall Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home When the darkness appears and the night draws near And the day is past and gone At the river I stand Guide my feet, hold my hand Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home Precious Lord, take my hand Lead me on, let me stand I'm tired, I'm weak, Lord I'm worn Through the storm, through the night Lead me on to the light Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home When you walk through a storm hold your head up high And don't be afraid of the dark. At the end of a storm is a golden sky And the sweet silver song of a lark. Walk on through the wind, Walk on through the rain, Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown. Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone, You'll never, ever walk alone. Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone, You'll never, ever walk alone. -------------------------- "Take My Hand, Precious Lord" is a gospel song written by Thomas A. Dorsey in 1932. The melody, although credited to Dorsey, was taken from a 1844 hymn entitled, "Maitland," by American composer, George N. Allen (1812-1877). The song has been recorded by many artists including Mahalia Jackson (for whom the song was written in mind), Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone and Elvis Presley and is included in many Catholic and protestant hymnals and songbooks, often known, simply as "Precious Lord". The most haunting recording is by Lonnie Donegan with the Chris Barber Jazz Band on Tempo label. Precious Lord Take My Hand Words & Music by Thomas A. Dorsey ------------------- "You'll Never Walk Alone" is a song written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II for their 1945 musical, Carousel. It was sung in the original show by Christine Johnson and later Jan Clayton with chorus. It is sung in the movie by Claramae Turner (although the weeping Shirley Jones first tries to sing it, but cannot), and later reprised by Ms. Jones and a chorus. In the musical, the song is sung after the death of the lead, Billy Bigelow, to give courage to Julie Jordan, pregnant at the time, and is reprised in the final scene to encourage a graduation class of which Louise (their daughter) is a member. As a result, it has become a standard, sung by graduation classes in the United States. The song is also sung at football clubs around the world, where it is performed by a massed chorus of supporters on matchday; this tradition began at Liverpool F.C. in the early sixties and later spread to several other clubs. The song was recorded by many artists, first charting in 1945 in a version by Frank Sinatra (#9 on the Billboard charts). The great tenor Mario Lanza conducted by Constantine Callinicos sang it in 1950. It was a #1 R&B hit for Roy Hamilton in 1954. Gerry & The Pacemakers sent it to #1 in the UK Singles Chart in 1963. Patti LaBelle and the BlueBelles had a #34 charting version in 1964. Elvis Presley's version got to #90 in 1968. "Bridge over Troubled Water" has been rerecorded by many artists, including: * Bobby Darin * Shirley Bassey * Roberta Flack * Tom Jones * Aaron Neville * Roy Orbison * Bon Jovi * Johnny Cash and Fiona Apple * Russell Watson * Blind Boys of Alabama * Elton John * Elvis Presley * Eva Cassidy * The Supremes * Robert Goulet * LeAnn Rimes * Bonnie Tyler * Michael W. After 21 previews, the Broadway production, directed by Michael Blakemore, opened on April 26, 1997 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, where it ran for 466 performances. Download Song ► http://SamTunes.NET Sam Harris sings "Those Magic Changes" starring as "Doody" in the original Broadway stage revival of GREASE along with Rosie O'Donnell, Megan Mullally, Brooke Shields etc. THOSE MAGIC CHANGES What's that playing on the radio, why do I start swaying to and fro I have never heard that song before, but if I don't hear it anymore It's still familiar to me, sends a thrill right through me Cause those chords remind me of the night that I first fell in love to Those magic changes my heart arranges A melody that's never the same, a melody that's calling your name It begs you please, come back to me Please, return to me, don't go away again, oh make them play again The music I wanna hear is once again, you whisper in my ear Oh my darling I'll be waiting by the radio, you'll come back to me someday, I know Been so long since our last goodbye, but I'm singin' as I cry While the bass is sounding, while the drums are pounding Beatings of my broken heart will rise the first place of the charts Oh my heart arranges, oh those magic changes ---------------------------- GREASE is a musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey about the way rock and roll changed American sexuality and culture during the pivotal moment when America took its first tentative steps out of the conformity and social/sexual oppression of the 1950s and toward the individualism and sexual freedom of the 1960s. Like The Rocky Horror Show does, Grease embodies this very real-world cultural friction in its two leads, Sandy (as the 1950s) and Danny (as the 1960s). The show takes its name from the 1950s United States working-class youth subculture known as the greasers. The musical, set in 1959 in fictional Rydell High in Chicago, follows ten working-class kids as they navigate the complexities of sex, cars (and sex in cars), and drive-ins (and sex at drive-ins). The score is a highly authentic recreation of early, raw rock and roll, invoking early groups including Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Huey "Piano" Smith, Paul Anka, The Diamonds, The Tea Queens, The Cadillacs, The Mello-Kings, The Kodaks, The Pengiuns, and many more. In its record-breaking original Broadway production, Grease was a raunchy, raw, aggressive, vulgar show which has since been sanitized and tamed down by subsequent productions. The show tackles such social issues as teenage pregnancy and gang violence; its themes include love, friendship, teenage rebellion, sexual exploration during adolescence and, to some extent, class consciousness/class conflict. The show became the longest-running Broadway musical in history, until it was beaten by A Chorus Line, and went on to become a West End hit, a hugely successful film, a popular 1994 Broadway revival, and a staple of regional theatre, summer stock, community theatre, and high school and middle school drama groups. After twenty previews, a Broadway revival directed and choreographed by Jeff Calhoun opened on May 11, 1994 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre, where it ran for 1,505 performances. Featured were Ricky Paull Goldin (Danny), Brooke Shields and Rosie O'Donnell (Rizzo), Susan Wood (Sandy), Megan Mullally (Marty), Hunter Foster (Roger), and Billy Porter (Teen Angel). A U.S. national tour of the 1994 production started in September 1994 in New Haven, Connecticut, and ran for several years. The opening tour cast included Sally Struthers (Miss Lynch), who stayed with the tour for several years, Angela Pupello (Rizzo), Rex Smith (Danny), Trisha M. Gorman (Sandy), and Davy Jones (actor) (Vince Fontaine). Brooke Shields (Rizzo) started on the tour in November 1994 before joining the Broadway cast. Other notable performers on the tour were Mickey Dolenz (Vince Fontaine), Adrian Zmed (Danny), Debbie Gibson, Heather Stokes, Mackenzie Phillips and Jasmine Guy (Rizzo), Sutton Foster (Sandy) and Marissa Jaret Winokur (Jan). ---------------------------- ► http://SamTUBE.com ... ► http://MySpace.com/SamHarrisMusic ... keep up to date, and be Sam's MySpace friend! ► http://SamTUNES.net ... to download Sam Harris songs and full albums. ► http://SamHarris.com ... information, biography, discography and buy cds.
