For some portions (while riding bike), the iPhone was strapped on to Xeni's hand with rubber bands (The Rubber Band Steadicam), and the iPhone camera was facing one direction with medium-res video recording. In other sections of this video (skaters skating, orchids, ocean, and interview with skater Kiko, age 8) the iPhone camera was activated in the other direction and captured high-resolution video. You can see the difference, but both outperformed other smartphones and handheld ultra-mobile digital video camcorders. When it comes to video recording, iPhone 4 is the one to beat. You have to be mindful of that camera orientation switch option noted above with FaceTime: when you shoot video out of one side of the device, you get lower-resolution 640 x 480 footage, and when you shoot out of the other side, you get far higher-res 1280 x 720. At request I show here my two bicycles that most my movies were filmed from. To anyone from the Netherlands these two standard every day upright utility bikes couldn't be more ordinary. But to the rest of the world they might be interesting enough to give them a closer look. In Utrecht I have a 10 year old British "Raleigh" because that was 3 kilos lighter than the standard Dutch bike at the time I bought it. In Utrecht I have to lift my bicycle twice a day, off and on the bicycle rack in the underground bicycle parking facility at Utrecht Central Station. That was the reason to go British. It is a good bike, only some parts are a bit too light compared to the Dutch bikes (fenders), but that weight had to be saved somewhere of course. Only the saddle was replaced in those 10 years. In 's-Hertogenbosch (aka Den Bosch) I have a second hand 25 year old bicycle of the Dutch brand "Batavus". Some parts were replaced in those 25 years. Like the dynamo, the bell, the saddle and very recently the coat guards. It has some wear and rusty spots, but it was used almost every day in the last 18 years that I own it. It saw the bicycle repair shop about 5 times in all those years. And I cannot do any maintenance myself.

The mundane continues but has interjections of humor and humble lessons The footage starts at 941 North Capitol St NE, Washington, DC, and has a hilarious surprise ending heading into the loading dock of 1299 Pennsylvania Ave NW / 555 13th St NW. It begs the question that I asked Syd, "who is the rookie?" Do you see the US Capitol as I head south on North Capitol? Its interesting how most people will only see pictures or video of the dome where I used to bike around it everyday. If you notice one part on E St NW when I move over to the left side of the truck you see my hand shoot out. Yes, I used the momentum of the truck to push myself forward. I can't claim it as skitching because it was only a hot second and the truck began going slower than me. I don't think I have any good footage of skitching but I think one guy missed it by a few seconds during Monstertrack 2006 (?)

I'm clearly having one of those days where the mundane is humorous and everything else is irritating. The footage starts with me coming out of 441 4th St NW (aka 1 Judiciary Sq.) Washington, DC, and continues onto my bike, east on E St NW (a bit of cussing about guys standing in the street), north on N. Capitol St, passed a fender bender to the ramp by 801 North Cap, across the concrete plaza to the bike rack at 941 North Cap where I giggle at my own reflection as I ride side saddle on the top tube and dismount. At the end you can get a glimpse of the security that I need to go through just to get a few documents on file at DCRA (Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs).
