To show support and solidarity, we visited several picket locations across the city, including 58th and Vine, 69th and Market, Bridge and Pratt, and 49th and Woodland, and spoke with members of TWU Local 234 to get the real story.

The mainstream press across Philadelphia is turning commuters against transit workers. Instead of practicing journalism and explaining to the public why transit workers have gone on strike, they have instead given a platform to one-side of the contract negotiations and helped the Mayor pit working people across the city against the drivers and engineers who get us to work everyday.
I was biking home from work during the SEPTA strike and stopped to take a video of this train passing by along the river trail.

The more things change, the more they stay the same - with that in mind here's KYW coverage of the last SEPTA strike from 2005. You'll notice that there was considerably more warning for this one. This is the open to kyw's Sunday 11pm news, anchored by Larry Mendte (they'd always grab him and/or Alycia if big news was happening on a weekend). They installed a new GM so things were in a bit of a transitional phase pres-wise. The KYW pyburns are in use, as is News in Focus (they didn't replace it yet), but Brian James has replaced Bill Ratner as the station voice. I included the "coming up next" topical because it contains the station's SEPTA STRIKE? graphic. (When they went on strike, the cavuto was removed.) This is being reused for the station's current coverage, albeit stretched widescreen.
