This is SEPTA Train #9563 coming through my train station going east towards Philadelphia. This train was right behind the extra train. SEPTA Train #9563 goes west (carrying passengers) and then at Bryn Mawr, they turn around and head back towards Philadelphia (with no passengers). The video of the extra train: www.youtube.com Enjoy!
I like to take this time now to wish everyone happy holidays. AMTRAK and SEPTA trains at Devon Station on Keystone Corridor. I manage to get up early to sight a very early morning extra train that comes through here at 6 AM The extra train was assigned to operate that special extra service to carry its anticpated high passenger number to Villanova. That train also continues into Malvern. Normally trains goes through here at around 8 AM because regular trains continue into R5 Thorndale Line from their origin at Doylestown. SEPTA 6:19 AM: R5 Malvern AT&T National Gold Tournament Extra Train #9597 with Silverliner IV #430 in the lead. 6:38 AM: R5 Doylestown Train #1522 with Silverliner IV #155 in the lead 7:08 AM: R5 Market East Train #8524 with Silverliner IV #185 in the lead. 7:39 AM: R5 Doylestown Train #1526 with Silverliner IV #125 in the lead. 8:09 AM: R5 Market East Train #8528 with Silverliner II #9002 in the lead. This train only paused for a second before leaving because at that time, there were no passengers waiting at the station. AMTRAK 8:15 AM: Keystone Train #611 to Harrisburg with AEM-7AC #924 in the lead. This train is running behind schedule.
So, this video is pretty long. I filmed the scenery between North Philadelphia and 30th Street Stations. Between 30th Street Station and North Philadelphia station we see a bit of the Powelton Ave Yard, some construction and a few other trains that passed us going in the other direction. Also, towards the Powelton Ave Yard, it looks like they are building a new maintenance garage or something like that because there is all kinds of construction going on at some new, small building which from my recollection, I have never seen before. I'm not sure what it is. Please enjoy!
WARNING!!! DO NOT TRY THIS!!! If you try this and get caught, do not blame me. We were bored one day. But please enjoy this video.

A Septa train rolls on by and afterwards so does a local groundhog. I call out to him for the slim possibility that he could be an obedient domesticated rodent. My attempt was futile, and he scurried away up the hill through the ivy. He then remains motionless, as to maintain inconspicuity...then onwards to his desired destination...maybe a burrow full of wholesome nutrients..ideal to provide for modest mammals.
Here is another short video of the new Rotem built Silverliners for Septa's Regional Rail System. This video was shot in South Korea and provided to me with permission to post this video......

One of the many great things we have now with the PRR that we didn't have on the NEC V4 is 30th St Station's upper level and Suburban Station, both of which were modeled very well. In this video we depart Suburban Station in some beautiful Silverliner IIs, make a quick stop at 30th St Station, and go through Phil Interlocking down to the NEC. Enjoy!

This was the returning Express consist from Newark. This train bound for Temple University was running with a Septa AEM-7 and Bombardier Comet IIs. These cars are never seen on late night local services a train like this normally dead heads from there terminating destination. Look in the corner to see the shot continuously aligned with the time of 7:57 PM Another odd part of this catch is the fact that neither the driving lights, ditch lights, or back up lights are lit coming into the station. You can see near the end that the driver does put all the lights on when he departs. Video Recorded at Suburban Station 6/25/09 7:57 PM Copyright Scott Hastings (Xdaftpunkedx)

On the last day of May 2009, I spent 2 hours at Woodbourne, which did not disappoint. Trains: SEPTA Train 4153 from West Trenton, NJ is slowing down for a station stop at Woodbourne at 5:04 PM with a lazy two car train of Silverliner IV 318 and 317 (married pair). This train is bound for the Philadelphia International Airport. SEPTA Train 4344 from Philadelphia International Airport stops at Woodbourne at 5:26 PM with Silverliner IV 353 and 352. The train is bound for West Trenton, a decent sounding RS2M on 353. Norfolk Southern 14G, a Conway, PA-Morrisville, PA mixed freight enters it's last stretch of the journey east on the NS Morrisville Line at 5:58 PM. NS SD70M-2 2714 leads with NS SD60I 6729, still in Conrail Blue :) trailling pulling only 32 cars. Catch the CR units while you can! Our first CSX of the evening: Just 2 minutes after 14G (I didn't even shut the camera off), CSX Q301-31 (Oak Island, NJ-Philadelphia, PA mixed freight) heads south on the Trenton Line at 6:00 PM with CSX CW44AC 36 and CSX ES44DC 5390 pulling 33 cars (note the SP boxcar at 5:20!). Both engines were facing west so it's nice that they allowed 36 to lead. The train was going 51 MPH according to the Defect Detector at Langhorne. CSX 36's K5LA horn was fouled by good sounding! SEPTA Train 4157 (West Trenton-Philadelphia International) stopping at Woodbourne Station at 6:04 with Silverliner IV 352 and 353 (same consist from 4344) on it's way south. SEPTA Train 4348 (Philadelphia International ...

With hopes of catching the Circus Train (which I didn't) I ran into severe signal problems, and on top of that, at 3:58 PM, a CSX employee was hit and killed by a truck at the Township Line/Big Oak Road intersection, near the crossing. The man was working on the Grade Crossing signals that were knocked over earlier in the day (you can see the crossing in several shots). Anyway, severe delays were encountered. Trains: SEPTA Train 6374 is running only 5 minutes late as it stops at Woodbourne ...
