I wrote this song years ago, when the 507 maintenance company (based out of Fort BLiss, TX) was ambushed in Iraq. I later re-visited the song in an effort to have it placed in a film whose working title at the time was, "American Tragic". The song never made it into the film and the film has since been titled, "The Dry Land". Killed in Action: The following soldiers of the 507th were killed in action (KIA): Specialist Jamal R. Addison, 22, Roswell, Georgia Master Sergeant Robert J. Dowdy, 38, of Cleveland, Ohio, who was the Company First Sergeant. Private Ruben Estrella-Soto, 18, of El Paso, Texas. Private First Class Howard Johnson II, 21, of Mobile, Alabama. He was the first casualty from Alabama during Operation Iraqi Freedom. A graduate of LeFlore High School in Mobile, Alabama, Johnson enlisted two weeks after graduating from high school and according to a CNN Newsnight desired a career in the Army hoping that someday he would rise to the rank of Sergeant Major. [1] Johnson was the son of Rev. Howard Johnson, pastor of Truevine Baptist Church. His funeral service was held on 5 April 2003, at Truevine Baptist Church and buried in Gethsemane Cemetery, Mobile, AL. Among the politicians present were Gov. Bob Riley, US Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Mobile, and Mayor Mike Dow. US Rep. Jo Bonner, R-Mobile, served as the funeral's master of ceremonies. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. [2] Specialist James M. Kiehl, 22, of Comfort, Texas Chief Warrant ...

(Via www.mediamatters.org ) Tancredo walks out in middle of MSNBC interview.
(Via Heather, crooksandliars.com ) During some of the media's endless coverage of the Fort Hood shootings today, Larry King brought in former POW Shoshana Johnson, Dr. Phil McGraw and former JAG officer Tom Kenniff to speculate about what the mindset of the accused attacker Nidal Malik Hasan may have been. When Kenniff called some of CNN's previous coverage on the topic "psycho-babble", tried to say that a ranking officer could not be suffering from PTSD and asserted that Hasan's motivations looked more like an act of terrorism because he has a Muslim name, Shoshana Johnson and Phil McGraw both rightfully called him out for it.

CNN - Larry King Live - November 5th, day of Ft. Hood Attack - Dr. Phil & Shoshana Johnson accuse JAG officer of being dangerously "ignorant" for his well articulated argument that the Islamist ideology was appearing more probable as a main component of Major Hassan's motivation for the shooting.

The torch has been passed to a whole new group of Wayans. With Dance Flick, the world is introduced to a second generation of Wayans to keep the laughs coming for years to come. BlackTree TV's Jennifer Johnson sits down with Director Damien "Dante" Wayans, Damon Wayans Jr, and Shoshana Bush. There have been few screen comedy families who have successfully passed the torch from one generation to the next as the Wayans family has. The Wayans brothers Keenen Ivory, Shawn, Marlon and Damon along with sister Kim, first burst onto the screen with 1988s blaxploitation parody, Im Gonna Git You Sucka, which led to their groundbreaking Fox comedy sketch series, In Living Color. The show not only brought the Wayans clan into the public consciousness, but also launched the careers of such other major stars as Jim Carrey, David Alan Grier, Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Lopez. Keenen also wrote and starred in the film Hollywood Shuffle. The brothers have continued into the millennium with a string of successful theatrical comedies, including the Scary Movie horror spoofs, White Chicks (2004) and Little Man (2006). Additionally, Shawn and Marlon starred on the hit WB series The Wayans Bros. for five seasons (1995-1999). The new decade has brought to light a new, and equally talented, Wayans generation, including Damon Wayans, Jr., Craig Wayans (son of Wayans sibling Deirdre) and Damien Dante Wayans (son of Wayans sibling Elvira Wayans), all of whom honed their skills writing and/or directing ...
A taste of what's to come on the 10 pm newscast on Dec. 13, 2003: flu-fighting efforts in full swing, a memorial for three children killed in an intense fire, Shoshana Johnson has left the Army, and snow in the Midwest. The channel's tagline at the time was "Live. Local. Late-Breaking."

Ms. Jennifer Johnson makes her BlackTree TV debut while sitting down with Marlon and Shawn Wayans to talk Dance Flick. Dance Flick is a hilarious new comedy that brings together the talents of two generations of the Wayans family, the explosively funny clan who brought us the Scary Movie franchise and White Chicks, as well as the groundbreaking TV series In Living Color. The Wayans brothers Keenen Ivory, Shawn and Marlon share the spotlight with the new generation, Damien Dante, Damon Jr. and Craig Wayans, all of whom share the same inimitable brand of wild, irreverent humor. In Dance Flick, a young street dancer, Thomas Uncles (Damon Wayans, Jr.), from the wrong side of the tracks and a beautiful young woman, Megan White (Shoshana Bush), are brought together by their passion for dancing and put to the test in the mother of all dance battles.
