The film is based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Dennis Lehane. Production started in March 2008. Shutter Island was originally slated to be released on October 2, 2009, but Paramount pushed the release date to February 19, 2010.[3] Paramount head executive Brad Grey blamed the recent economic downturn as the main decision behind the delayed release date. In 1954, US Marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his partner, Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo), go to the Ashecliff Hospital for the criminally insane on Shutter Island. They are investigating the disappearance of Rachel Solando (Emily Mortimer), a patient who vanished from a locked room. Dr. John Cawley (Ben Kingsley), the head psychiatrist, explains that Rachel was institutionalized after drowning her three children. She believes, however, that she is still home and that her children are still alive. The cliffs surrounding the perimeter make it impossible for Rachel to have reached the nearby caves. Teddy sees a lighthouse but is told it has already been searched. The Marshals question the staff and learn that Rachels psychiatrist, Dr. Sheehan, left for vacation that morning. Teddy asks to see the hospitals personnel files but Cawley refuses. That night, Teddy has strange dreams about his wife, Dolores (Michelle Williams), who died in a fire two years before. SHUTTER ISLAND is the fourth collaboration between director Martin Scorsese and Leonardo dicaprio and to say that it is a disappointment would be an understatement. The film contains too many elements from previous films that appear to be obvious rip-offs, it wants to be surprising and shocking but instead is just confusing, and the ending is so bad that it makes you want to get up and leave, except that the audience is already doing that. In addition, there are too many scenes that are nothing more than just exposition designed to fill in the holes for the audience. dicaprio plays US Marshall Teddy Daniels, the time is 1954, and the place is Ashecliffe Hospital on Shutter Island, an institution for the criminally insane on one of the islands in Boston Harbor. Daniels is there with his brand-new partner, Chuck Aule, played by Mark Ruffalo, and they are investigating the disappearance of a female patient, Rachel Solando, who is there because she killed her three children, but believes that they are still alive. As he starts his investigation, Daniels remarks that the inmates appear as if they are all on edge, and he is told, "Right now, Marshall, we all are." He is also corrected that the people there are patients, not inmates, by Dr. Cawley, played by Ben Kingsley. The island is 11 miles from the nearest land, the dock is the only way off or on the island, Rachel has no shoes, and it is as if she evaporated from a locked cell with bars on the window. Due to a terrible, alcohol fueled argument before we started vlogging, the Pigs found themselves in a crankier than normal place. In essence, Shutter Island drove a wedge between them. A psychological thriller involving the disappearance of an infanticidal woman lead the federal marshalls (mark rufallo and leo dicaprio) to some very unnerving truths about the island. SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! If you intend on watching this movie and haven't... I suggest you do not watch this tribute. It will ruin one of the greatest shocking endings ever made in the history of film. Good quality, huh? I am pretty impressed with myself... I have never gotten such clear and good quality after just a few days from when the film came out. This movie is so so complicated to make a video to it... it is one of those things that is almost impossible to have a song relate to it. I chose 'Secrets' because I think it represents Teddy Daniels: who is now, btw, one of my favorite characters of all time. I hope you like it. I had fun creating it. Take Care.
STORY: My character has gone into his uncles house, who has recently passed away. While searching through the house (which was recently built, and everything inside in new), i find a key, which leads mystery so large, so complex, it will have you guessing until the very end.
This is a wonderful song from Shutter Island by Max Richter called "On the Nature of Daylight". It has a hauntingly beautiful string melody that really compliments the movie. It is also the music that is played at the end of the credits for those who have seen the film. Enjoy :)
