Daridra Dahana Shiva Stotram English with Lyrics (Visit us @ www.stotralu.com)
It is believed that Lord Shiva is the king of all dancers. He was an expert in the Tandava style of dancing. This is a vigorous manly style of dancing. This stotra is about him while in the act of dancing. Alliteration and onomatopoeia create roiling waves of resounding beauty in this great stotra. This stotra which is so majestic was composed by none other than Ravana, the demon king, who ruled over Sri Lanka, who was one of the great devotees of Lord Shiva. Once the proud Ravana conquered the entire India and approached Mount Kailas on top of which Lord Shiva resides with his consort Goddess Parvathi. Ravana called Lord Shiva to come down. When he did not, he uprooted the mountain with his twenty hands. This made Goddess Parvathi jittery. Then Lord Shiva pressed down the mountain with his thumb. Ravana was crushed by the weight of the mountain. There he praised Lord Shiva by singing the Sama Veda and this great stotra composed by him. Lord Shiva was pleased and pardoned him. It is world's first video for Shiv Tandav Stotram having English subtitles. Dedicated to my Guru Lord Shiva.

There are around 11 versions of Shiva Sahasranamas, in which two (one from Mahabharata and the other one from Linga Purana) are the most popular. This is the Mahabharata version. Yudishtra after hearing the Vishnu Sahasranama from Bheeshma requests him to also teach him the thousand names of Lord Shiva. Bheeshma expresses his inability to do so and requests Lord Krishna to teach it to Yudishtra. Then Lord Krishna who has learnt it from Sage Upamanyu teaches it to Yudishtra. Rendition : S. This video is dedicated at the feet of Sri Adi Sankaracharya. Bhujanga prayata is a meter for writing poems in Sanskrit. It means moving of a snake. Adi Shankara has written several prayers using this meter. There is a very interesting story about this stotra. Adi Shankara reached his mother's death bed before she died. He wanted to help her get salvation. So he composed a great stotra called Shiva Bhujanga Prayata Stotra in praise of Lord Shiva. As soon as it was completed, The servants of Lord Shiva came to take Shankaras mother to heaven. But she was terrified to see them, because they wore the dresses of the forest and dressed in tiger skin with belts of snakes. Understanding her problem, Shankara humbly requested the servants of Lord Shiva to go back and composed this prayer to Lord Vishnu in the Bhujanga prayata meter. Once he recited it, the servants of Lord Vishnu, who had polished God like looks came to accompany Shankaras mother to heaven. She was extremely pleased to go with them. Anadyanthamadhyam, param thathwamartham, Chidakaramekam, thurreyam thwameyam, Haribrahma mrugyam, Parabrahma roopam, Mano vagatheetham maha shaivameede. I meditate on that great light called Shaiva, Which has no beginning nor end, Which is the real meaning of philosophy, Which is the only one form of holy knowledge, Which is thureeya, the blissful fourth state, Which is the unknown which was, Searched by Lord Brahma and Vishnu, And which is the form of ultimate truth. Jai Shiva Shankar, So what is the Shiva Mahimna Strotam? Well its written by Pushpadant and it describes the greatness of Lord Shiva. How did it come about? Pushpadanta was a Gandharva. Minstrel in the court of Lord Indradev. Pushpadanta was a devotee of Lord Shiva as well as a lover of flowers. He used to steal delicate and fragrant flowers from the garden of the great Shaiva King of Kashi, Chitraratha. As a result, King Chitraratha was not able to offer flowers to the great Lord Shiva himself and the puja of the great devotee King was hampered. King Chitrarath tried to find the thief but was not successful because as a Gandharva Pushpadanta was invisible by his magical powers. One day to catch the thief, the King spread sacred Bilwa leaves (nirmalya), which are extremely dear to Shiva, in his garden. Pushpadanta while stealing the flowers in the garden trod on the Bilwa leaves and invited Lord Shivas wrath. Cursed by the Lord to eternal ignominy, Gandarva Pushpadanta lost all his divine powers. Pushpadanta forgot the mantra for becoming invisible and not only that but he forgot all other knowledge he had at that time when he was on those Bilwa leaves. In order to seek absolution and please Lord Shiva, Pushpadanta created a stotram (song of praise) in which he elaborated at length upon Shiva's greatness. The penitent Gandharva, who himself was a great devotee of the great Lord, composed a great prayer in chaste and lyrical Sanskrit and offered that to the Lord ...
