All snakes are strictly carnivorous, eating small animals including lizards, other snakes, small mammals, birds, eggs, fish, snails or insects. Because snakes cannot bite or tear their food to pieces, a snake must swallow its prey whole. The body size of a snake has a major influence on its eating habits. Smaller snakes eat smaller prey. Juvenile pythons might start out feeding on lizards or mice and graduate to small deer or antelope as an adult, for example. The snake's jaw is a complex structure. Contrary to the popular belief that snakes can dislocate their jaws, snakes have a very flexible lower jaw, the two halves of which are not rigidly attached, and numerous other joints in their skull, allowing them to open their mouths wide enough to swallow their prey whole, even if it is larger in diameter than the snake itself, as snakes do not chew. For example, the African Egg-eating Snake has flexible jaws adapted for eating eggs much larger than the diameter of its head. This snake has no teeth, but does have bony protrusions on the inside edge of its spine which are used to aid in breaking the shells of the eggs it eats. While the majority of snakes eat a variety of prey animals, there is some specialization by some species. King cobras and the Australian Bandy-bandy consume other snakes. Pareas iwesakii and other snail-eating Colubrids of subfamily Pareatinae have more teeth on the right side of their mouths than on the left, as the shells of their prey usually spiral ...

Columbian Red Tail Boa! If you tell me I'm cruel, then you do not understand nature and are closed minded. Remember snakes need to eat too and will not always eat frozen rats. Besides it's not my snake. Enjoy!

Wong: Here's something you don't hear about every day. A python near Pune city in western India state swallowed a deer alive on Christmas day. But it wasnt the easiest of meals to keep down. Please be warned that this report may contain graphic images. STORY: About 30 miles outside of Pune, a farmer couple in Mulshi village were taken aback when they came across a 12-foot python lying in their field with a swollen abdomen. The python seemed lethargic as it lay still. Soon, frightened villagers collected at the site. Volunteers from "Friends of Nature" then arrived . and identified the snake as a rare Indian rock python. The python was trying to eject its victim as it was probably too large to digest. [Naina Aabale, From "Friends of Nature"]: "He took 10 minutes to vomit it completely. As it kept coming out, it looked like the barking deer species, and it came out. For about 2 minutes the python did not move because the head of the barking deer was stuck in its jaws and it was not moving." It was later found that the animal was a Chinkara deer, which the python finally managed to eject. The python was taken to a secluded place in the jungle where it's being treated for internal injuries.

--- English --- The name python comes from a mythical giant serpent in Greek mythology. Pythons are primitive snakes that, like their close relatives the boas, still show signs of lizard ancestry. Pythons have traces of a pelvis and two tiny spurlike hind limbs, usually better developed in the male. They also have two functioning lungs, one large and one small—more advanced snakes have only a single lung. Pythons range from about 1 to 10 m (about 3 to 33 ft) long and can weigh up to 140 kg (about 300 lb). Female pythons tend to be larger than males. . Their jaws can have up to 200 backward curving teeth, designed to grip prey and prevent it from pulling away. The reticulated python of Southeast Asia is among the largest snakes, reaching a length of 10 m (33 ft). Pythons mainly ambush prey, using their forked tongues to detect odors. The tongue flicks in and out to collect airborne chemicals and passes over a special smelling organ, called Jacobson's organ, in the roof of the mouth. Like most snakes, pythons have relatively poor eyesight and limited hearing. Pythons kill by constriction, using a powerful muscular body to squeeze a victim to death. It was once thought that pythons and other constricting snakes primarily killed by suffocating prey, gradually tightening their grip to prevent an animal from breathing. Recent research, however, shows that the enormous pressure created by the coils of such snakes can also stop circulation and even stop the heart, quickly cutting ...
The old Discovery Channel clip of a python swallowing its prey, this time edited to show only the internal camera shots. It's juicy in there, isn't it? The audio is obviously going to be disjointed, don't blame me.
This snake has just killed this squirrel and is starting to eat it. Notice the wound on the snakes back a few inches behind his head. Also, a stupid kid touches the snake while it's eating.
it's feedin time for my snake. her name's penny by the way. like the beatles song. PENNY LANE IS IN MY EAR AND IN MY HEART..... anyway, you can hear my little cousin in the backround talking some funny nonsense about the mouse running around in her belly and he asks if she's gunna let it go, and if the mouse is dead. kid's a riot... comical genius.
The conclusion to 'Chirp, Chirp, Chirp'.
Here's a snake we found in our bedroom on the second floor in an island in Thailand. The gecko was already dead and the snake would not let go. We took the snake holding on to the gecko out to the porch. That's how it's possible to shoot this video.
Burmese Python swallows a baby chick. Birds are a good source of nourishment for even the largest of snakes. You shouldn't stun prey unless you know what you're doing. Causing pain by sloppy stunning should be avoided. If in doubt, please let the predator kill the item. They've been doing it for millions of years without our help.
I just thought that this was a bit cool & well yeah, really random, but hey, thats me!!!=D...so this video shows a snake eating an egg (duhh)...its kinda freaky and i dont understand why it eats it whole, can he not take it in smaller pieces??....aaaaah hes showing off for the camera in my opinion...leave a comment on what you think...spanks...and also remixed woooo!!:)

A large Boa Constrictor swallows a pig whole.
The video shows a red-tailed hawk standing on ice, shredding its prey. The video also shows swans and a golden-eyed duck taken at the same time and place as the hawk. It was a very cold day. The swans were wild and looked like trumpeter swans. Also included are some autumn scenes of close deer jumping a fence. Also included were ducks taking flight, a great blue heron, and a woodpecker - all on the same pond at the same time. **The red tailed hawk, Buteo jamaicensis, is a large powerful bird. It can weigh around 2-4 lbs. and has almost a six-foot wingspan. They have a sharp, strong, powerful beak and curved talons. They tear prey apart with their beaks. The red tails of these hawks showed up several times. Additional Hawk videos include: HAWKS VS. A video of a python carpet snake eating a possum. First a few photos of a second possum trying in vain to stop the snake eating the first possum. Later the second possum limps off wounded, as is the snake. I filmed this on my roof and while the snake was eating the possum, it falls off the roof! But the snake continues eating the whole possum!
This video shows a predator at the moment of capture. It is common to show predator eating prey; but almost never is the actual attack shown. Here a red-tailed hawk swoops from an electric pole at prey. It then attacks and captures the prey (which appears to be a mouse or vole). After a struggle, it flies away with the prey in its talons. The rest of the video shows more scenes from the life of the same hawk. **The red tailed hawk, Buteo jamaicensis, is a large powerful bird. PREY HAS ISSUES: ATTACKS PREDATOR - It is difficult to photograph the exact moment when a predator attacks and even rarer to photograph the prey fighting back. This video shows a prey with issues. It didn't intend to become food for the big red-tailed hawk. Normally a Red-Tailed Hawk is a top predator. It is a strong, powerful, swift bird, which descends upon its prey and then kills and eats it. Here the prey turned the table on the hawk. Hawks normally have little trouble subduing rodents. This was something different and likely a snake (I had watched this hawk take rodents before, which it did easily: www.youtube.com I think this was likely a snake because the hawk's behavior was different.) The hawk is shown at first contentedly on an electric power line pole eating its kill. Then it sees more prey and goes after it. However, the hawk not only failed to subdue it, but seemed mystified by it. The hawk eventually gave up and flew away. **The red tailed hawk, Buteo jamaicensis, is a large powerful bird. Video shows a red-tailed hawk swooping after and eating prey. The hawk is first perched on a light pole. It then swoops after prey and eats something (is difficult to see in the grass). It then flies to a tree and watches the road (it uses the road as a tool). After a car goes by and kills something the hawk flies down and eats it. It then flies away. When it flew away, it actually flew right past me - quite close. The video also shows the hawk flying in slow motion and at night during the sunset and some flying nighthawks. **The red tailed hawk, Buteo jamaicensis, is a large powerful bird.
