Time compression of the Williams Expedition with Jay Pasachoff July 22nd 2009 from a mountain top in Tianhuangping China. The fisheye movie is intended for projection in a planetarium dome. The 6000 frames recorded by Aram Friedman of Ansible Technologies were processed by Eric Beam. Totality at this location was just over 5 1/2 minutes. Our original intention was to shoot from Sun up to Sun down but as you can see there was significant cloud cover and we were extremely lucky to have reasonably clear skies for most of the eclipse. The recording ends abruptly due to a sudden rain storm.
Total Solar Eclipse 2009:Millions of people in Asia will see the longest total solar eclipse this century on Wednesday as swaths of India and China are plunged into darkness. Scores of amateur stargazers and scientists will travel long distances for the eclipse, which will last for about five minutes. The eclipse will first appear in the Gulf of Khambhat just north of Mumbai. It will move east across India, Nepal, Burma, Bangladesh, Bhutan and China before hitting the Pacific. The eclipse ...

Unfortunately, the bad weather prevented from watching the solar eclipse.

Taken in Wuhan/China.
This time the luck was not on my side. Clouds obscured the corona most time during totallity. Because of the bad weather we decided to go to Wuhan instead of watching the eclipse from the Shanghai area as planed. I read reports that the corona was visible some km north of the city of Wuhan, others saw it some km south of the city. I was near the city center and had to deal with a field of thick Altocumulus clouds, which allowed us to see second contact, but the corona did not make it through ...
Third Total Solar Eclipse(TSE) in my life. earlier two eclipses I had no instruments for capturing the event. No sign of sun but good documentation to observe light intensity drop and birds calls -no birds calls during totality period and again birds calls. I feel it's rare capture. Although very few people had clear view of diamond ring, corona, belly's beads etc from India. other used high tech option of chasing the eclipse with aircraft. but all must had missed the darkness we experience ...
Shanghai China - 9:39 AM - 22 July 2009 REAL SOLAR ECLIPSE VIDEO I was over on a trip to Shanghai and here is the video I made about the solar eclipse. Hope you like it. It was really cool how for five minutes it became nighttime in the city. I would definitely recommend seeing one sometime if you get the chance. I don't have it recorded on video, but I actually had a nice view of the sun when it was about half covered, and that was really cool. Apparently the reason why a total solar ...
On Wednesday, 2009 July 22, a total eclipse of the Sun is visible from within a narrow corridor that traverses half of Earth. The path of the Moon's umbral shadow begins in India and crosses through Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and China. After leaving mainland Asia, the path crosses Japan's Ryukyu Islands and curves southeast through the Pacific Ocean where the maximum duration of totality reaches 6 min 39 s. A partial eclipse is seen within the much broader path of the Moon's ...

Alphonse Sterling, a Nasa astrophysicist who will be following the eclipse from China, scientists are hoping data from the eclipse will help explain solar flares and other structures of the sun and why they erupt. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Sun and the Earth so that the Sun is fully or partially covered. This can only happen during a new moon, when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction as seen from the Earth. At least two and up to five solar ...

Disclamer: Please do not flag this video, i don't own any rights or content , track and/or video belong to there respective owners. = There are four types of solar eclipses: A total eclipse occurs when the Sun is completely obscured by the Moon. The intensely bright disk of the Sun is replaced by the dark silhouette of the Moon, and the much fainter corona is visible. During any one eclipse, totality is visible only from at most a narrow track on the surface of the Earth. An annular eclipse ...

NASA's VERY own multicamera angle SOLAR ECLIPSE FOOTAGE. July 2009. Solar eclipses have been observed throughout history, and the superstitious and religious view them as a sign of potential doom . Ancient eclipse records made in China and Babylonia are believed to be over 4000 years old, and there is evidence that the ancient Egyptians observed solar eclipses over 4500 years ago. The ancient Chinese believed that solar eclipses occur when a legendary celestial dragon devours the Sun. Hindu ...
