Miracle on January 15, 2010 Solar Eclipse day [Translation] You can see the Hood of the Cobra on top of the Sivalinga and the body on the left side. Kumbakonam: At the Siva Temple in Thepperumanallur, large numbers of devotees witnessed a miracle of a Cobra doing Archana for Siva Lingam with Vilvam leaves. In Thanjavoor district of Tamil Nadu, near Thirunageswaram, there is a Siva Temple at Thepperumanallur. Here Vedhanthanayagi [Sakthi] with Viswanathaswamy [Siva] are the main Deities. In this Temple, it has been customary to do archana with Rudhraksha only. Yesterday morning, just before Solar Eclipse, at about 10:30 AM Sivachariar Satish, priest of the Temple, noticed a Cobra lying on top of the Siva Linga. The snake slowly descended from there and went towards the Vilvam tree which is the Sthala Viruksham holy tree of the temple. It climbed the tree and picked a Vilvam leaf and came back and entered the Sannadhi. It hissed at any devotee trying to get near it. It climbed onto the Siva Linga and opened it hood and dropped the Vilvam Leaf. This miracle was witnessed by all devotees who were excited. Then the Cobra went again and again to do the same repeated 2 or three times. As the news spread all over the village, hundreds of villagers rushed to the Temple to have the Dharshan of this event of Cobra with Siva.
Longest Annular Solar Eclipse in The Third Millennium on January 15, 2010 filmed and photographed at Eclipse-City site at Kanyakumari - India
A solar eclipse that reduced the sun to a blazing ring surrounding a sombre disk plunged millions of people in Africa and Asia into an eerie semi-darkness on Friday. The spectacle, visible in a roughly 300-kilometre (185-mile) band running 12900 kilometres (8062 miles) across the globe, set a record for the longest annular eclipse that will remain unbeaten for more than a thousand years. An annular eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly in front of the Sun but does not completely obscure it, thus leaving a ring -- an annulus -- of sunlight flaring around the lunar disk. The Moon's shadow first struck the southwestern tip of Chad and western Central African Republic at 0514 GMT and then reached Uganda, Kenya, and Somalia before racing across India, Bangladesh, Myanmar and China. Local media in the affected areas issued warnings about the dangers of looking directly at the sun, but fascinated onlookers thronged streets to witness the celestial phenomenon. "It's getting interesting. Birds are singing. It's actually getting cold here," said John Saitega, a 34-year-old father of six in Olte Tefi, 50 kilometres (30 miles) south of Nairobi. In India, where the eclipse was visible from the southern-most tip, astronomers and curious spectators watched in awe, using sunglasses and even ultra-dark welding masks as day turned into darkness. There were cheers and applause in the city of Bangalore when clouds cleared just in time to show the Moon glide into position to cover ...

Solar eclipse occured on 15th January 2010 taken from Chennai HD The solar eclipse of January 15, 2010 was an annular eclipse of the Sun with a magnitude of 0.9190. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partially obscuring Earth's view of the Sun. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's apparent diameter is smaller than the Sun, causing the sun to look like an annulus (ring), blocking most of the Sun's light. An annular eclipse appears as a partial eclipse over a region thousands of kilometres wide. It was the longest annular solar eclipse of the millennium, and the longest until December 23, 3043, with a maximum length of 11 mins and 7.8 seconds. (The solar eclipse of January 4, 1992, was longer, at 11 minutes, 41 seconds, occurring in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.) The eclipse was visible as only partial eclipse in much of Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia. It was seen as annular eclipse within a narrow stretch of 300 km (190 mi) width across Central Africa, Maldives, South Kerala (India), South Tamil Nadu (India), Sri Lanka and parts of Bangladesh, Burma and China.

Scientists around the world are excited about the solar eclipse slated to take place tomorrow. January 15th will herald the first annular solar eclipse of the year, also the longest in the millennium. At 11 minutes, they believe it will give them more than enough time to conduct experiments to help them better understand the sun.
January 15 is an important date we will see the biggest solar eclipse on this day. The eclipse will be in rig-shaped and people of South India will be able to see the sun in a shining ring shape for a long time.
deadliest haiti earthquake, megathrust chile earthquake, china & tibet earthquake, volcanic ash from Eyjafjallajokull glacier in iceland ============== Transcript ============ "A big worry is disturbing me. In one month there are two eclipses Lunar eclipse went (31st Dec 09). Now solar eclipse will come (15th Jan 10) For humans, days after eclipse are very painful. Irritation, fights, diseases, war, unrest so I am thinking that to counter coming problems -a widespread service from human society is needed. There is only one solution to this. No government is capable enough(to handle). No political party is capable (to handle). Now parties will also fight among themselves. On (Indian) border fight will also start. In world also (fight will start). Wherever the effect of this eclipse will take place (fight will start there). A beautiful solution to this is that: in human society there are no irritations, unrest, fights O God! that is why we are calling you. By belief, love and this notion if we start chanting then problems will turn into thorn from prong Big big problems will go away. It is cent percent true. Therefore now I will make you do more meditation and chanting . And in heart, I will come with a determination that in environment effect of solar and lunar eclipse will cool away with this God's prayer. Do you all agree with me? To do something for yourself is a destitute heart By giving up own vested interest and to do for many is to be being one with God's power ...

Total solar eclipse, the longest of the century! This is a raw video taken by a fairly good camera by tracking the Sun. Enjoy!
The total solar eclipse on the 22nd of July 2009 will be the longest of the 21st century. Lasting over six and a half minutes at the maximum duration (in the same Saros as the long 1991 eclipse). Starting in India along the western shore near Surat the path of the shadow heads towards Butan touching the southern tip of Nepal and the northern edge of Bangladesh. The eclipse passes over the Chinese cities of Chengdu, Suining, Chonging, Wuhan, Xiaogan, Hangzhou, and Shanghai by which time the duration of the eclipse is over five minutes of totality. Leaving Shanghai the path continues into the ocean encountering islands such as Toshima and Akusaki south of Japan and eventually the Marshall islands. The maximum eclipse duration of 6 minutes and 43 seconds occurs far off the coast in the Pacific Ocean.
Third Total Solar Eclipse(TSE) in my life. earlier two eclipses I had no instruments for capturing the event. No sign of sun but good documentation to observe light intensity drop and birds calls -no birds calls during totality period and again birds calls. I feel it's rare capture. Although very few people had clear view of diamond ring, corona, belly's beads etc from India. other used high tech option of chasing the eclipse with aircraft. but all must had missed the darkness we experience at dondaicha. Even around 5000 people gather in Varanasi was watching the eclipse with many Halogen's bulbs on. although sun was not visible but I am glad that I was not any other place than Dondaicha. Credit gos to Khagol Mandal for selecting such ideal spot.
Total Solar Eclipse 2009:Millions of people in Asia will see the longest total solar eclipse this century on Wednesday as swaths of India and China are plunged into darkness. Scores of amateur stargazers and scientists will travel long distances for the eclipse, which will last for about five minutes. The eclipse will first appear in the Gulf of Khambhat just north of Mumbai. It will move east across India, Nepal, Burma, Bangladesh, Bhutan and China before hitting the Pacific. The eclipse will cross some southern Japanese islands and will last be visible from land at Nikumaroro Island in the South Pacific nation of Kiribati. Elsewhere, a partial eclipse will be visible across much of Asia. The previous total eclipse, in August 2008, lasted two minutes and 27 seconds. This one will last six minutes and 39 seconds at its maximum point. Alphonse Sterling, a Nasa astrophysicist who will be following the eclipse from China, scientists are hoping data from the eclipse will help explain solar flares and other structures of the sun and why they erupt. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Sun and the Earth so that the Sun is fully or partially covered. This can only happen during a new moon, when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction as seen from the Earth. At least two and up to five solar eclipses can occur each year on Earth, with between zero and two of them being total eclipses.[1] Total solar eclipses are nevertheless rare at any location because during each ...

A once-in-a-lifetime experience! A trip to Varanasi to watch the total eclipse of the sun. The weather was great - brutally hot during the day, but not all that bad at 6:30 in the morning. It didn't rain during the eclipse, and the clouds were luckily quite cooperative. But the crowds were intense. Two people died in a stampede after the eclipse.

This video shows the partial solar eclipse which took place at Kanyakumari, India from 6:10 am to 7:15 am.. I am not a Pro in shooting videos. But I just did. The second part of the video is red in color as I introduced a negative photo film in front of the camera because the sun was very brighter at that time and the eclipse was not clear. The audio quality is too poor. Very sorry. Hope you enjoy the video.
