Yes, finally, all the footage has been sorted through, all the technical issues have been slain, and if youtube cooperates, I should hopefully have a couple of vids up tonight. It's time to start the first bit of extra footage! As a suggestion from Kit, I decided to demo all the chips in the game, as there are tons I never used in the main playthrough, and truth be told, several I've never used period. In talking with him, it seemed like this would be a good project, sort of a compendium of how chips work, which can be updated with each new game, skipping over chips that have already been done and haven't drastically changed. At long last, it's time to start up Megaman Battle Network. Finally, with everything sorted out, it feels good to get to work on this one. The Battle Network series is a very, very, infinitessimally close second favorite to me behind the classic series, so I definitely wanted to do things with this one. And not only that, but it's three videos for the price of one! Yes, I recorded about a half hour's worth of footage, the full first day in the game. This video illustrates how several simple sorting algorithms operate, using people as the objects to be sorted. Produced by the Algorithmic Thinking class as part of Knight School 2009 at Menlo School. For people who know nothing about computer science but want to know what the heck is going on, here are brief descriptions of each sorting algorithm. Insertion Sort: Select each element in the list, and move it left until you hit somebody less than it. For example, when the element '2' is selected in the video, it moves left (shifting everybody right out of the way) until it encounters '1', when it is inserted back into the list. Selection Sort: Pass through the entire list, keeping track of the minimum element so far seen. When the pass is finished, select the global minimum and (in this simplified version of the algorithm) add it to a list of sorted elements. Repeat this, selecting the minimum element each time. Mergesort: Sorting a big list is too hard, so instead sort the first and last halves of the list, and then merge the sorted sublists. Of course, to sort each half-list we sort each quarter-list, and so forth. Eventually we get down to sorting a list with only two elements, which is easy! The merge can also be done very easily, by simply taking the smaller of the top elements of each sublist and repeating until the sublists are empty. Just wanted to add to Youtube what I have done lesurely with my hard drive so as to have media at my fingertips on the PS3. Its got the (2nd) maximum physically possible hard drive (at the time) fitted got it almost a year ago for £60 [320gb formated to 298gb 5400rpm 2.5 SATA can't remember make], with a free case to use the old 40gb one as an external.
