WICHITA, Kansas, November 14, 2008 Its the ultimate battle: Church vs. State. But this one is quite different from the rest. A local church is calling the recent presidential election a sin against God, raising eyebrows with a sign calling the president elect a Muslim. The Marquee outside Spirit One Christian Center on Harry is raising ire and eyebrows. It echoes unsubstantiated claims on the Internet that the president-elect is a Muslim and says the nation must repent for electing him. The main point of the marquee is to cause Christians to understand he's not a Christian, said Pastor Mark Holick of Spirit One. They call and tell me hes not a Muslim he's a Christian. That's not the point. The point is he's not a Christian. Pastor Holick has a history of causing controversy with his politics on his marquee outside his church, but he says nothing he's ever done has caused more controversy than calling Obama a Muslim. Whats the world coming to? asked Wichitan Alan Smith. You got a Christian. He's prejudiced. Everybody else ought to be prejudiced to? Is that what he's trying to say? What Pastor Holick says hes trying to say is electing Obama was a sin because Obama isnt an evangelical Christian. Obama supports abortion rights and tolerance of other religions. Holick is quick to recite Bible verses that say tolerance of the Jewish and Muslim faith is wrong. Jesus said in john 14:6, I am the way the truth and the light. No man can come to the father but through me, Pastor Holick said. That's probably one of the most intolerant belief systems on the face of the earth. Last year, the IRS Threatened Holick with revocation of his churchs tax exempt status because of his political views. Those efforts were dropped after IRS investigators met with the pastor.

Freedom Ministries was founded in 1981 by David Hogan. Starting off with nothing but a word from God and a vision of the area he began preaching from village to village. The work began in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. From this beginning until now there have been over six hundred churches pioneered and countless villages have been brought the Gospel. The mountainous region where many of the churches exist is a harsh area with few roads and many villages only recently having electric power. The primary focus of this ministry is to go into villages and regions where there is no established work of the Gospel. There to seek souls, healings and deliverances for the kingdom of God. Although having reached into many countries the main area of the missionary work is along the eastern side of the country of Mexico. With churches extending from the border with the United States all the way to the Guatemalan border in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. This work seeks to establish churches, train leaders and enable national pastors to spread the Gospel. Reaching out now to a third generation since itΓ’ΒΒs beginning, the work is a lifelong commitment for the missionaries who work there. There are now many national missionaries who are being sent out from their local churches to other Indian tribes in Mexico. God has backed this ministry with signs following. There has been miraculous healings of every nature. There are testimonies of every body part having been healed or created after fasting, prayer and the laying on of hands. There have been over four hundred people that have been raised from the dead by the power of God. Of these, on twenty-eight different occasions to date, David Hogan was present. The rest of which, God responded with mercy and life at the request of pastors, missionaries, housewives, leaders and many other Christians throughout the work who prayed. To begin churches is only the start. The work currently is reaching out into the many thousands of villages and mountain valleys that have not been reached. To care and safeguard the established churches and continue to press outward is the continuing vision

He is now in his third year of PhD studies in Quranic Exegesis at the University of Toronto. Shabir is the founder of the Islamic Information and Da'wah Centre in Toronto, Canada. Representing the Christian side was Rev. Lindsay G. King: Rev King is actively involved with the Family Life Foundation. Since 1964 he has given a series of lectures which he calls The PNEUMA (The Human Spirit) factor. LOVE is the foundation, the core and the goal of this very popular program. Rev. King was born in Bell Island, Newfoundland in 1930. He undertook undergraduate work in philosophy and psychology at Mount Allison University, Sackville, New Brunswick. Christian fellowship is too divided as it is and is a scandal to Christ who prayed that we might be one. I appeal to you as Baptists who treasure soul freedom, soul competency and the autonomy of the local church. These great Baptist principles argue on behalf of including those of minority witness and minority interpretation of scripture in its fellowship. Our church studied the Bible, sought the Spirit of God and talked earnestly with each other for over 20 years to get to the place where we said we were "open to all and closed to none," and fully welcomed gay and lesbian persons who wished to follow Jesus with us. We do not claim to have the whole mind of God, and we respect those whose interpretations of scripture differ. It is the spiritual freedom we offer one another. I appeal to you as Biblical people led by the Living Spirit of God whose life is centered in Christ. Jesus welcomed those considered outcasts and sinners by His culture and religion into the Kingdom of God drawing near. We seek β we hope β to live in His Spirit. And we, like Peter in the Book of Acts, have overcome our original resistance to the inclusion of gay and lesbian persons as Peter overcame his resistance to accepting Gentiles into the people of God. He saw the Holy Spirit fall upon the Gentiles, he saw God working in their lives and said: "If then God gave them the same gift that He gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could hinder God?" We could base the unity of our fellowship on any number of issues of Biblical interpretation: speaking in tongues, war, abortion, death penalty, divorce, homosexuality, and on and on. Let us base our unity on Jesus Christ as Lord and his call to discipleship and on the competence and freedom of the individual to open scripture and interpret it for his or her life guided by the Spirit of God.
