the legislature should not interfere in the operation of the church. But as Lori played the separation of church and state card, the church's gilded soapbox cannot be ignored. You can't have separation of church and state only when it's convenient, only when it suits your philosophy. Step 1: Ram predatory loans down the market with fraud and deceptive marketing. Step 2: Some of the loans will blow up, but in the aggregate it will all work out and besides, the loans will be bundled and sold off to investors (spreading the toxic waste), so who cares? Great plan, but it had a few problems. Problem #1: It destroyed the world financial system (minor detail) Problem #2 (And he's where it get VERY interesting...) For a loan to be valid, the lender needs to be able to produce the paperwork. Guess what? In their mad greed to screw the American people and line their own pockets, Wall Street forgot that little detail. Many of these loans and been sliced and diced and sold and re-sold so many times that not only is the paperwork not easy to lay hands on, in some cases, it's not clear who actually owns the loan. Here's where property law comes in. If the bank can't produce the documents and the real owner of the loan can't be identified, the contract is null and void. You've got to hand it to Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (and Ohio which produces a lot of great Congresspeople.) By telling a bank to "produce the note," a homeowner can delay foreclosure by forcing the lender to prove the suing institution is actually the same which owns the debt. Now, the banks own sloth and disorganization (and inherent dishonesty) can be used against it. Final word: The media (and Wall Street and its criminal partners in Congress and the former Bush White House) love to call these loans sup-prime. Here's the old fashioned word: predatory. Many of the loans that were made in the past five years that have created so many problems would have been illegal until Bush & Co not only gutted lending laws, but also literally sued states to stop them from enforcing their own lending laws. Former governor Elliott Spitzer was the ring leader of the state movement to enforce local lending laws...and you saw what happened to him. He's no saint (and truth be told, he's kind of a jerk) but if every politician who went to hookers was busted, Washington and all the state capitals would be ghost towns. This is intended for students and educators everywhere. A quick review of the capital cities of the United States of America. It starts out slow and then increases in speed. I challenge you to identify each capital city as it's state is revealed. Please note: The District of Columbia (D.C.) is not a state. It is a federal district. This region is counted as the supreme ruler over all our blessed United States of America. Please pray that our rulers always act in the best interests of the people. Please pray that our soldiers are protected, as they endeavor to bring the same freedoms that we enjoy, to our fellow brothers and sisters, of various nations of the world. GOD BLESS AMERICA! There is a website...50 state capitals that are identified with a map...each state and it's capital. www.50states.com I have no affiliation with this website nor can I attest to the contents thereof. I would have used their picture only I did not have official permission to do so. All photos contained herein are royalty free. Should you desire this film clip for your own personal/school use, simply email me with your request plus your regular or school email address and I will endeavor to email the file to you. No cost or obligation. Freely received and so freely give. Feel free to embed this on your website as well. Another note: "capitol" usually refers to a legislative building ,while "capital" usually refers to the city where the building is seated. Often these spellings are used interchangebly...ask your educator regarding which is the correct one.
LITTLE ROCK A special commemoration was held in the State Capital Rotunda to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Governor Beebe was joined by members of the Legislative Black Caucus, the MLK Commission, and hundreds of guests from the community. Music was provided by the jazz ensemble from Martin Luther King Elementary School. In his remarks, Gov. Beebe spoke of Dr. Kings enduring legacy and his tireless journey towards civil rights and social justice for all, a journey that Gov. Beebe reminded the guests we are all still undertaking. The commemoration is especially significant this year as our nation prepares to inaugurate President-Elect Barack Obama, which marks an incredible milestone along the road toward perfecting Dr. Kings Dream.

Want REAL news? http://dystopianmedia.blogspot.com/ --- Happy Holidays! Yep, it's that time of year again, when they try and put religion in our government. Organized religion is by its nature ridged and thus slightly authoritarian. This is why it can be used as an instrument of oppression. You may recall that the founders of this country fled from England in part to escape religious tyranny. This is why in the first amendment to the constitution, the first bill of right is: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Let's read that first part again: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. Now, it's debatable either way whether or not Holiday trees are secular or not. Washington State Capitol has had a holiday tree, provided by the Association of Washington Business, for the last 19 years. In 2006, it was joined by a menorah sponsored by a Seattle Jewish group. While the holiday tree is debatably secular the menorah was decidedly not. In response to the menorah a lawmaker from Spokane WA argued that the tree was and should be called a symbol of Christmas. Personally, I argue that there is really nothing more Pagan then taking an evergreen tree, adorning it with decorations and placing it as the centerpiece in one's home for a few months. But that's just me. Anyways, last year a local real estate agent sued the state to allow a nativity display depicting the birth of Jesus. It was allowed into the display, and was placed next to the bust of Washington within the capital. See, what makes Washington State awesome is that thats when the Freedom From Religion Foundation sued to place up the following atheist plaque, place with equal standing on the other side of the bust of Washington in the capital building from the nativity scene: The plaque reads as following: "At the season of THE WINTER SOLSTICE may reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven, or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition." Washington state, you are AWESOME! That's when Billow... sweet media douchebag Bill O Riley decided to put up an eight minute piece about how his little black heart was hurt by the sign, prompting people to call into the state capital. It also prompted a Billow sympathizer to steal the sign from the capital, which of course is exactly what Jesus would have done, creating more of a media firestorm. It was later returned to a Fox Propaganda outlet. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. So, I'm making a call to all you Atheists and Atheist sympathizers out there in you tube land! Grab your markers and grab your signs, and join the festivities. If you've got some spare time I say take to the capital steps and those of the city halls. Let them try to steal /those/ signs. And plant our butts outside with signs that say the following: "At the season of THE WINTER SOLSTICE may reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven, or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition." Tis the season for the first amendment Fa la la la la, la la la la. Freedom of speech and assembly Fa La la la la, la la la la Separate the Church and State Fa La la la la, la la la la Why is this even a debate Fa La la la la, la la la la My name is Hunter, and I hope you live free Fa la la la, la la la la You have no master: Choose liberty! A controversial anti-religion placard was reported missing from the state Capitol - then later found - as several other groups clamored for permission to post their own holiday displays. A receptionist with radio station KMPS said an unidentified man dropped off the missing atheistic sign.
Joshua and the 50 state capitals
I'm embarrassed about my State for the 27th time this year; it's been a bad one. In Washington State, the Capital Building is displaying: a Nativity scene, a Christmas tree, and an atheism sign which reads: "There are no Gods, no devils, no Angels, no Heaven or Hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds." The sign was placed by the "Freedom from Religion Foundation" on behalf of its State members. Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire refuses to have the sign removed, she is a disgrace. My Governor is such a disgrace, and yet she was elected again just this last election; what's up with that? I know she's been bribing the State employees with holidays and pay raises, but I didn't know there were enough of them to get a lousy anti-business Governor like her re-elected. I think I'll drive over there and tear that sign down; it can't be anymore that a misdemeanor.

There was a protest at the State Capital on 11/9/2008 after the disappointing results of the Nov. 4 election passing Prop 8 which makes it illegal for same sex couples to get married. Protests are going on all over the state, this is some random footage and pictures from the Sacramento one on 11/9. Just so you know the lady who is speaking at one point is the granddaughter of Caesar Chavez. There wasn't an actual head count, but it was estimated that there were somewhere around 2,500 - 4,000 people. It was also said this was the largest protest at the capital that they have seen in years.
