6/28/2010-Shares of Smith & Wesson (NASDAQ:SWHC) and Sturm, Ruger (NYSE:RGR) are both trading higher Monday following a ruling from the Supreme Court that struck down by a 5 to 4 vote a Chicago-area ban on owning hand-guns. The court cited 2nd-amendment privileges of the "right to keep and bear arms" not just from federal restrictions but also all state and local restrictions in the land. Two years ago the high court ruled in a case from Washington, DC, that the 2nd Amendment protects US citizens to have a hand-gun for self-defense. Shares of Smith & Wesson (NASDAQ:SWHC) are trading 3.2% higher to $4.23 while shares of Sturm, Ruger & Company (NYSE:RGR) are up 1.2%.

As much as a die hard M&P fanatic as I am, I must say that I may have found a new favorite. The Ruger SR9 is a polymer frame high capacity service pistol that takes the Gaston Glock concept to a new level, featuring 1911 pattern ergonomics. With it's 17+1 capacity this "wonder 9" brings packs quite a punch in the slimmest profile on the market. Absolutely amazing!

04/28/10 - www.TheTechTrader.com - Owens Corning (OC), a well-known company thats been moving strongly, today jumped a whopping 3.41 on 6 million shares, with a strong surge today could see higher levels. Overhead resistance up around the 36 zone from the 07 high may be tested at which point Owens will go in to new all time highs. RF Micro Devices Inc. (RFMD) had a big day today also getting a significant break out, popping 43 cents or nearly 8% on 25 million shares. Thats the heaviest volume on an up-day all year. Looks like at this point if it does break out it could see something that takes this up towards the 77.50 level and beyond that 9-9.50. Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc. (RGR), the gun manufacturer, jumped 1.95 or 12.5%. This stock may have a shot at reaching up in the 20 22 zone where the 07 highs existed at 22.58. Travelzoo Inc. (TZOO), which recently accelerated with volume, had a clean break out the day before yesterday and today it popped another 1.28 or 6.78% on solid volume. In the early 1950s, Westerns were popular in movies and television. Colt had discontinued the iconic Single Action Army prior to World War II, and few single-action revolvers were available to meet market demand for cowboy-style revolvers. In 1953, the new firm of Sturm, Ruger and Company introduced the Ruger Single Six, a scaled-down .22LR rimfire single-action revolver. The Single Six proved to be a popular seller, leading Ruger to develop and market a full-sized revolver similar to the Colt Single Action Army: The Ruger Blackhawk.[2][3] Ruger introduced the Blackhawk in 1955. Chambered for the .357 Magnum, the Blackhawk was a simple and strong design, and sold well. In 1956, as Smith & Wesson was introducing the new .44 Magnum, Ruger quickly developing a variant of the Blackhawk in the new cartridge. Ruger achieved wide popularity with this firearm in a hotly-anticipated new cartridge, which was both cheaper and more readily available than the Smith & Wesson Model 29 revolver.
