When You Believe From the Prince of Egypt Sung By: Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. Lyrics: [Whitney]: Many nights we prayed With no proof anyone could hear In our hearts a hopeful a song We barely understood Now we are not afraid Although we know theres much to fear We were moving mountains Long before we knew we could There can be miracles When you believe Though hope is frail Its hard to kill Who knows what miracles You can achieve When you believe Somehow you will You will when you believe [Mariah]: In this time of fear When prayer so often proves in vain Hope seems like the summer bird Too swiftly flown away Yet now Im standing here My hearts so full, I cant explain Seeking faith and speakin words I never thought Id say There can be miracles When you believe (Whitney: When you believe) Though hope is frail Its hard to kill (Whitney: Mmmmmhhh) [Whitney and Mariah]: Who knows what miracles [Mariah]: You can achieve (Whitney: You can achieve) When you believe Somehow you will [Whitney and Mariah]: You will when you believe They don't always happen when you ask And its easy to give in to your fear But when youre blinded by your faith Can't see your way clear through the rain A small but still resilient voice Says hope is very near There can be miracles (Miracles) When you believe Though hope is frail Its hard to kill Who knows what miracles You can achieve When you believe somehow you will Somehow you will You will when you believe When you believe

He is almost like Mine That Bird. Summer Bird is a great racer. In 2004 Birdstone Summer Birds Sire won the Belmont Stakes and the Travers. He is almost like his daddy. I hope he will do well in the Breeders Cup.

A trbute to the Belmont, Travers, and Jockey Club Gold Cup winner Summer Bird.
Belmont Stakes and Shadwell Travers winner Summer Bird wrote his way into the history books Saturday afternoon at Belmont Park, outdueling a game Quality Road through the stretch to win the 91st running of the Grade 1, $750000 Jockey Club Gold Cup. With the victory, Summer Bird became the first 3-year-old since 1989 to have won all three races in a single year. The handsome chestnut colt is just the 10th sophomore and first since Easy Goer to string together victories in the Belmont, Travers and Jockey Club Gold Cup. The other 3-year-olds who have won the trio of prestigious races in New York are Man owar (1920), Twenty Grand (1931), One Count (1951), Gallant Man (1957), Sword Dancer (1959), Damascus (1967), Arts and Letters (1969) and Temperence Hill (1980). All but One Count and Temperence Hill are Hall of Famers. I think it puts him in an elite group, said 34-year-old Tim Ice, who trains the son of 2004 Belmont Stakes and Travers winner Birdstone for Drs. Kalarikkal and Vilasini Jayaraman. I think he should be champion 3-year-old colt.
ELMONT, NY - Summer Bird stated his case for being crowned 3-year-old champion while trying to enter the conversation for Horse of the Year with an easier-than-it looked one-length victory over Quality Road in Saturday's Grade 1, $750000 Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park. Summer Bird added the Jockey Club Gold Cup to victories earlier in the year in the Belmont Stakes and Travers Stakes, becoming just the 10th 3-year-old to capture all three races in the same year. He's the first to do it since Easy Goer in 1989. Others to do it include Temperence Hill, Arts and Letters, Damascus, One Count, Twenty Grand, Man o' War, Sword Dancer and Gallant Man. "It's been 20 years since a 3-year-old won the Belmont, Travers and the Gold Cup," trainer Tim Ice said. "I think it does put him in an elite group and he should be named 3-year-old [champion] colt." www.drf.com
Belmont Stakes and Shadwell Travers winner Summer Bird, with Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux aboard, went five furlongs in 1:02.40 - Saturday, September 26, 2009 in preparation for the Jockey Club Gold Cup on Saturday, October 3. It was perfect, said trainer Tim Ice of Kalarikkal and Vilasini Jayaramans chestnut colt. Last weeks work was superb, so wanted to slow him down a little today. He galloped out very strong and hes right on target.

Belmont Stakes winner Summer Bird followed in the footsteps of his sire Saturday afternoon at Saratoga Race Course as he splashed his way to an imposing 3½ length victory over longshot Hold Me Back in the 140th running of the Grade 1, $1 million Shadwell Travers Stakes. The son of 2004 Belmont-Travers winner Birdstone, ridden by Hall of Famer Kent Desormeaux, took the lead with a quarter-mile to go and was never threatened as he edged clear through the stretch to add the Mid-Summer Derby to his victory over Dunkirk and Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird in the Belmont Stakes. Summer Birds winning time for the 1¼ miles was 2:02.83 over a sloppy track. Sent off as the second choice behind favored Quality Road, who was third, Summer Bird returned $7.80 for a $2 win bet to his backers in the enthusiastic crowd of 34221. In earning $600000 for Drs. Kalarikkal and Vilasini Jayaraman, his record now stands at 3-1-1 from seven starts with a bankroll of $1573040. I feel like I do [have the best 3-year-old colt], said his 35-year-old trainer, Tim Ice, who took out his training license just a year ago. He beat Quality Road today. I have a lot of respect for Quality Road, and I have a lot of respect for my horse. So maybe he is champion 3-year-old. Desormeaux, who picked up his first Travers win after finishing sixth in both 2007 and 2008, kept Summer Bird well off the rail as Our Edge took the field of seven 3-year-old colts through early fractions of 23.19 and 46.88. With Grade 2 ...
He is no longer the other Bird. Summer Bird flew out from underneath the shadow of Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird Saturday with a surprisingly easy 3 1/2-length victory in the Grade 1, $1 million Travers Stakes at sloppy Saratoga. Hold Me Back, the longest shot on the board at 17-1, rallied from last to be second, 1 1/2 lengths ahead of Quality Road, the 3-2 favorite. He was followed in the order of finish by Charitable Man, Warriors Reward, and Kensei. Our Edge, who set the pace for the opening half-mile, was eased. The Travers victory coupled with his win in the Belmont Stakes in June should put Summer Bird atop the 3-year-old division heading into the fall. www.drf.com

2009 Grade I Haskell Invitational. Rachel Alexandra beats the boys in the $1.25 Million Haskell. Summer Bird runs second with Munnings third.
Rachel Alexandra turned in yet another dominating performance in a campaign for the ages when she captured the $1.25 million Haskell Invitational (gr. I) on a sloppy track at Monmouth Park Aug. 2. With regular rider Calvin Borel at the controls, Rachel Alexandra raced three wide just off the pacesetter Munnings, took charge leaving the final turn and drew off under light urging to win by about six lengths. It was her second win over males -- she won the Preakness (gr. I) May 16 -- and improved her record to seven-for-seven in 2009. The winning time for the 1 1/8-mile test was 1:47 1/5, just two ticks off the track mark, a remarkable effort considering the track conditions. Summer Bird finished second, with Munnings third. Winning trainer Steve Asmussen, who also captured the $750000 West Virginia Derby (gr. II) with Soul Warrior, and the $500000 Jim Dandy Stakes (gr. II) with Kensei a day earlier, completed a dream weekend with Rachel Alexandra's triumph over five rivals. Owner Jess Jackson has indicated that he would like to run the daughter of Medaglia d'Oro once more against males in the Travers (gr. I) at Saratoga. "We don't know," Jackson told TVG when asked about Rachel Alexandra's next start. "She'll tell us. "We're not going to the Breeders' Cup. I've said it and I meant it." www.bloodhorse.com

I know it's very early for this, but I was bored and I felt the need to make something because of all the awesome peformances I've seen lately. I also know that a lot of these horses won't actually run in the race they're listed under, but I tried to highlight a few leaders in some of the main divisions. my thoughts on race are that C. Borel blew it big time he could not get Mine That Bird to relax. he made the move to soon, went to wide with him. I think he should have spent some time on the track with the horse before the race, instead of enjoying the sites of new Yorke.

It was Summer Bird, not Mine That Bird and jockey Calvin Borel, who came roaring down the long stretch and won the final jewel of the Triple Crown on Saturday. Great finish to the 2009 Belmont Stakes.
A year ago jockey Kent Desormeaux lost a bid for a Triple Crown when he had to pull up heavy favorite Big Brown. On June 6 in the Belmont Stakes (gr. I), he got his elusive Belmont win when he guided Summer Bird to an upset win in the third leg of the Triple Crown. All eyes were on the other bird in the field, Mine That Bird, but he came up short, finishing third as Dunkirk got second. Both Summer Bird and Mine That Bird are sons of Birdstone , who won the Belmont in 2004. Some might criticize jockey Calvin Borel for moving too soon in the 12-furlong race, but Borel said following the race that though he might have done so, "we just got outrun today." Borel would have become the first jockey to win the three Triple Crown races on different horses. He won the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) on Mine That Bird and the blackberry Preakness Stakes (gr. I) on Rachel Alexandra. Dunkirk went to the lead out of the gate, followed by Charitable Man, Miners Escape and Mr. Hot Stuff. Both Summer Bird and Mine That Bird were in the back of the 10-horse field as they went a quarter in :23.41. John Velazquez still had Dunkirk on the lead while Miners Escape took second as they went the first half-mile in :47.13 and six furlongs in 1:12.43. Mine That Bird was in last, but only about seven lengths from the lead. Meanwhile, Desormeaux had the spot that Borel normally has, sitting on the rail as the field approached the turn for home and the lengthy stretch run at Belmont ...
