Nine dead after explosions in Russia MOSCOW - At least nine people were dead after suicide bombings Wednesday morning in Russias North Caucasus region, the Interfax news agency reported citing Russias Interior Ministry. The explosions come two days after twin suicide bomb attacks killed 39 people in Moscows subway system. The first blast was carried out by a suicide bomber dressed as a policeman in the city of Kizlyar in the semi-autonomous Russian republic of Dagestan. The blast occurred in front of a school, reported radio broadcaster Echo Moskvy. There were no children in the school at the time of the blast. Shortly afterward, a second suicide bomber detonated himself elsewhere in Kizlyar. Most of the fatalities in the two attacks were policemen. It was unclear if Wednesdays Dagestan bombings were linked to the Monday bombings in Moscow. Dagestan, and the wider Northern Caucasus region, is frequently a centre of fighting between Russian authorities and Islamist rebels.
There are still five people in a critical condition in hospital following yesterday's blasts. Doctors say more than seventy people are being treated, but they think that number could rise. RT's Igor Ogorodnev visited a Moscow hospital to hear about one family's lucky escape.

Aid donors have promised Pakistan about 6 billion US dollars in help but most of that is for medium- and long-term reconstruction. Jolie, on her third visit to Pakistan, said quake survivors needed help now.
