I, The Swan - The Sound of Animals Fighting From the album The Ocean and the Sun.
Title : Saint-Saens : The Swan From Wikipedia: Le Cygne, or The Swan, is the thirteenth movement of The Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns. This piece features a solo cello in tenor clef and two accompaniment pianos. The piece is in 6/4 time, with a key signature of G major. It makes use of legato and slurring, the music should flow like a swan gliding through the water. This piece is often played using much vibrato. This is the only movement from the Carnival of the Animals that the composer would allow to be played in public during his lifetime as he thought the remaining movements were too frivolous and would damage his reputation as a serious composer. The piece was written in tenor clef, although there are some arrangements in bass clef. Because the high range of the cello is displayed in this piece, the voice is often misnamed as the violin. The cello, however, has an extremely large range and can play in this register, and its tones are rounder and more mellow..

Le Carnaval des Animaux (The Carnival of the Animals) is a musical suite of fourteen movements by the French Romantic composer Camille Saint-Saëns. Le Carnaval was composed in February 1886 while Saint-Saëns was vacationing in a small Austrian village. It was originally scored for a chamber group of flute, clarinet, two pianos, glass harmonica, xylophone, two violins, viola, cello and double bass, but is usually performed today with a full orchestra of strings, and with a glockenspiel substituting for the rare glass harmonica. Saint-Saëns, apparently concerned that the piece was too frivolous and likely to harm his reputation as a serious composer, suppressed performances of it and only allowed one movement, Le Cygne, to be published in his lifetime. Only small private performances were given for close friends like Franz Liszt. Saint-Saëns did, however, include a provision which allowed the suite to be published after his death, and it has since become one of his most popular works. It is a favorite of music teachers and young children, along with Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf and Britten's The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. Le Cygne (The Swan) Two pianos and cello: This is by far the most famous movement of the suite, often performed sole and is used to showcase the interpretive skills of the cellist. The lushly romantic cello solo is played over rippling sixteenths in one piano and rolled chords in the other. [from Wikipedia] Artwork:Leonora Carrington
Barbie of Swan Lake is a 2003 direct-to-video Barbie film directed by Owen Hurley. It is the third in a series of computer animated Barbie films, and features the voice of Kelly Sheridan as Barbie. The story is loosely adapted from the Swan Lake ballet and features the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. This is the third and final Barbie film narrated by Barbie to her little sister Kelly. It is also the second & final Barbie film to be based on a Tchaikovsky ballet. (the first being Barbie in The Nutcracker) Additionally, being a Barbie movie, the plot has a decidedly happier ending than the original ballet. Voice cast: Kelly Sheridan as Barbie & Princess Odette Mark Hildreth as Prince Daniel Kelsey Grammer as Rothbart Maggie Wheeler as Odile Venus Terzo as Lila Kathleen Barr as The Fairy Queen & Marie Michael Dobson as Erasmus Nicole Oliver as Carlita Ian James Corlett as Ivan Gina Stockdale as Queen Mother Brian Drummond as Reggie Chantal Strand as Kelly & Kelly The Cygnet Gary Chalk as Baker Scott McNeil as Peddler Thomas Delauney as Tommy

Friends, I recently came across this beautiful book of Poetry - Please check it out: www.amazon.com Valse (Corps de Ballet) Swan Lake (Russian: Лебединое Озеро, Lebedinoye Ozero, Swan Lake) is a ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky presented in either four Acts, four Scenes (primarily outside Russia and Eastern Europe) or three Acts, four Scenes (primarily in Russia and Eastern Europe), based on a libretto by Vladimir Begichev and (possibly) Vasily Geltser, fashioned from an ancient German legend, which tells the story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse. It was originally choreographed by Julius Reisinger to the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (opus 20). First presented as The Lake of the Swans by the Ballet of the Moscow Imperial Bolshoi Theatre on February 20/March 4, 1877 (Julian/Gregorian calendar dates) in Moscow, Russia. Although the ballet is presented in many different versions, most ballet companies base their stagings both choreographically and musically on the revival by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, staged for the Imperial Ballet, first presented January 15, 1895 at the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia. For this revival, Tchaikovsky's score was revised by the St. Petersburg Imperial Theatre's kapellmeister Riccardo Drigo. (We appreciate Wikipaedia's contributions in the descriptions here)
Clip #1. Look for this movie on TCM or buy the tape at Amazon.com. The story is about a royal family who is hoping to lure a prince (Alec Guiness) to marry their daughter (Grace Kelly), who is a princess of a small country. The prince is only going to visit for a short time, so the mother of the princess decides to use a tutor (Louis Jourdan) as a pawn in order to make the prince jealous. This film is a little slow in parts, but for the most part quite charming and funny. Grace Kelly is at her most luminous. Also stars Louis Jourdan, Brian Aherne, Alec Guiness, Jessie Royce Landis, and Estelle Winwood. Read more about this film here: imdb.com And petition MGM to release this film on DVD!
