From Wikipedia: "Roundabout" is the opening track for the 1971 album Fragile by British progressive rock band Yes. The song was written by singer Jon Anderson and guitarist Steve Howe. In January 1972, an edited version of the song was released as a single with "Long Distance Runaround" on the B-side. "Roundabout" has become one of the best-known songs by Yes. Live versions of the song are found on the albums Yessongs (1973), Keys to Ascension (1996), House of Yes: Live from House of Blues (2000), and Live at Montreux 2003 (2007). The Yessongs version was released as a single in 1974.[1] An acoustic arrangement of "Roundabout" was recorded for The Ultimate Yes: 35th Anniversary Collection, released in 2003. The single was one of the band's biggest hits in the United States, peaking at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 (then called the Pop Singles Chart).[2] The single version of the song was edited down to 3:27 for American pop radio airplay, although many stations played the full version of the song. "Roundabout" peaked at #22 on the Dutch Top 40.[3] Anderson has said that the song's cryptic lyrics simply came to him while driving to the studio one early morning. This explains the lyric "Call it morning driving through the sound and even in the valley". [citation needed] Howe's use of octave harmonics on the acoustic guitar introduction of the song and the instrumental break in the middle, plucking four notes that compose an Em chord on an open guitar, has become one of his ...

Buck Norris sings "Green Green Grass Of Home" by Porte Wagoner. Porter Wagoner, the Thin Man from the West Plains, is a case of an artist often ahead of his time who has always appeared hopelessly behind the times. He's among the most immediately recognizable figures in country music, largely due to his exploitation of TV -- and flashy costumes -- a good 20 years before the video boom. And while he's forever perceived as the man who tried to hold Dolly Parton back from pop success, he was also responsible, in many ways, for putting her in a career position where the issue could even arise. As for his music, since signing with RCA in 1952 he has produced a wealth of superb hard country, and just as much of the most wretchedly oversentimentalized tripe you'll ever want to hear. The latter, of course, is half the reason he's loved. Wagoner was born in West Plains, MO. As he grew up, he fell in love with the country music he heard over the radio, teaching himself guitar so he could sing and play along with them. When he was a teenager, he landed a job at a local market, where he would frequently sing when business was slow. The owner believed that Porter's singing was actually helping the store's reputation, so he arranged to sponsor a local radio show that would feature the fledgling vocalist. Throughout the late '40s, Wagoner was singing on the local West Plains radio station. Eventually, a Springfield radio station called KWTO offered Porter a show in 1951. Around the same ...

Music : RDBurman, Director : Hrishikesh Mukherjee Synopsis: Told in flashback, this engrossing drama champions grass-roots socialism, disguised as a male-bonding tale of two friends -- one of whom finds work in a factory owned by the other. The storyline leads into misunderstandings between the two friends caused by their boss-employee relationship. Rare Khanna/Bachchan joint appearance added interest to the film. The confrontation between the friends coupled with a powerful performance from Bachchan is the highlight of this movie. This is the movie, in which Amitabh is said to have taken over the superstar mantle from Rajesh Khanna. This movie signalled the end of the Khanna era and the beginning of the long Bachchan era. The movie personified the angry young man image of Bachchan.

The loss of environmental and human wealth has been costly, particularly in Native American communities, but other rural communities are similarly impacted. This historic pattern has buttressed an unsustainable way of life. The future must be sustainable in terms of environment, economics and social relations. Relocalizing food and energy systems as core elements of a rural economy indeed national and international economies has the potential to transform world social, economic and political relations. Our work at a local, national and international level describes how communities make change and the implications for larger society.

I may be laughed right off the stage by uploading this, but, as I've never been afraid of provocation, I'll take the risk. The risk of being called 'sentimental', for sentimental is what it might be called when uploading a clip about innocence, the innocence of an entire nation no less. Three songs from a musical programme, called 'Jiggles and Fiddles', aired by the Christian Broadcasting Association somewhere in the second half of the fifties. The style of music and the naivety of the lyrics reflect the essence of a society of nice, law-abiding citizens, who cleaned their windows at least once a week, who called their government ministers 'Your Excellency' and who knew their place. A society as grey as the grey picture of their tv-sets. When watching 50's television I usually immediately start thinking "This was crying out for May '68" - but probably not all of it was bad. It's a bit of a pity though that music like this can not be appreciated by those my age without placing it in the social context in which it was created, the social reality of our parents and grand-parents and which remained so present in our own upbringing and education. Purely technically speaking, this music is as good as any other. Personally I like to listen to it, if mainly for the orchestral arrangements. I also admit I feel sorry that this sort of repertoire is no longer produced, a repertoire in which craftsmanship, quality of sound and bel canto is the focus. Compared to what is nowadays ...
Bendu Apparao is an unapologetic comedy, whose priority is to tickle you rather than make you marvel at the biology of the funny bone. There's a little physical humour in the beginning but things get less embarrassing soon after. The movie also has space for a few social statements, including one on the state of school education in villages.

The fith and final RSMV of the "Breakaway" Series, featuring 5 songs from Kelly Clarkson's second album titled 'Breakaway'. All 5 of these RSMVs will have a storyline relating to the original music video and real life. I want this video to prove something, I'm sure a lot of others have already, but it doesn't take a metal song (atleast not always) to make a RSMV. Before I started the Breakaway I knew that a few of the songs were very different to other songs in good RSMVs. Even though onces such as 'Since U Been Gone' were quite popular, every single video of Breakaway got rated 1 star by either 1 person with multiple accounts, or a group of people who just thought 'oh I hate this song!' and just start hating it and voting good comments down, rating the video one and not even thinking about the spirit of the video. Lots of people still don't understand about how much effort is put into a video, and that you have to respect what other people are like. Take the song in the video. If you don't like it then leave! It's even a message of the song (read below). Obviously the people who rate it one have no life and have nothing better to do, but even though it may effect how I feel, seeing how I put so much effort into these videos, I'll still continue to make pop RSMVs and nothing will stop me. If you don't like this music and flame it because of that or you think 'the editing sucks' then why watch it? RSMVs are made for the fun and enjoyment. To share something you've spent ...

Reuploaded thanks to a tip from scunnewman. Thanks! [citation needed] Howe's use of octave harmonics on the acoustic guitar introduction of the song and the instrumental break in the middle, plucking four notes that compose an ...
"Over the Rainbow" (often referred to as "Somewhere Over the Rainbow") is a classic ballad song with music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by EY Harburg. It was written for the movie The Wizard of Oz, and it became Judy Garland's signature song. The song's plaintive melody and simple lyrics depict a pre-adolescent girl's desire to escape from the "hopeless jumble" of this world, from the sadness of raindrops to the bright new world "over the rainbow." It expresses the childlike faith that a door will magically open to a place where "troubles melt like lemon-drops." The song is so popular that it tops the "Songs of the Century" list compiled by the Recording Industry Association of America and the National Endowment for the Arts. It also topped the American Film Institute's "100 Years, 100 Songs" list. Along with Irving Berlin's "White Christmas", the song was adopted by the American troops in Europe in World War II as a symbol of the United States, the faraway land that, after long years of war, seemed like a dream beyond the rainbow. The song has come to epitomize the gesture of the rising octave, which makes its opening so distinctive. A time-honored story tells that this classic song was cut from the film after a preview, because MGM head Louis B. Mayer thought the song "slowed down the picture" and that "our star sings it in a barnyard". Most of the music in the film is medium-to-high energy, in contrast to this gently paced melody. However, the frequent instrumental ...

BEIRUT: "He who polluted my land with his blood is now gone. He ran away like a lost subservient, like any coward ... He was defeated, Lebanon triumphed," sang Julia Boutros Friday night at the Forum de Beyrouth, using her voice to interpret Israel's latest war against Lebanon. With these words, which set a 6000-strong audience ablaze, the Lebanese singer best known for her patriotic songs opened a regional fundraising tour entitled "Ahibaii," or "My Beloved Ones." All proceeds from Boutros' concerts will go to the families of those killed in Lebanon during the 34-day war, which saw the deaths of more than 1000 civilians. "Tonight I will sing for my beloved country, which has a special place in my heart," Boutros told her audience. "Especially after the July war, I grew more proud of it, of this great country." During the show, Boutros asked the crowd to sing along with her on such songs as "We Love You, Yes We Love You." She also asked members of the audience to dedicate the words to someone they hate. "I myself can now think of a few people I hate and to whom I will dedicate this song, so I would like you to imagine someone you hate and sing this song with me for him," she said. The crowd, in turn, sang along with her ad verbatim for almost every song. After a brief interlude, Boutros revisited some of her classics, ranging from love songs such as "Tsawar" ("Imagine") and "Wayn Msafir?" ("Where Are You Traveling?") to patriotic anthems such as "Ya Thuwar al-Arid ...
