Our hotel in Melaka had a beautiful pool and that was just about all that was good at this hotel. From Melaka our journey took us to Putrajaya (Jawi: ڤوتراجاي) is a planned city, located south of Kuala Lumpur, that serves as the federal administrative centre of Malaysia. The seat of government was shifted in 1999 from Kuala Lumpur due to the overcrowding and congestion there. Nevertheless, Kuala Lumpur remains as Malaysia's national capital (as the seat of Parliament) as well as the country's commercial and financial centre. Putrajaya was the brainchild of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad who was in power then. In 2001, Putrajaya was made a Federal Territory, increasing the number of federal territories to three. Kuala Lumpur and Labuan are the other two. Named after the first Malaysian Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra the city is situated within the Multimedia Super Corridor, beside the also newly developed Cyberjaya. The development started in 1995 and today major landmarks are completed and the population is expected to grow in the relatively new city. The "jaya" (जय) part of the city's name means "victory" in Sanskrit. The Seri Wawasan Bridge that looks like a sail boat has a striking style that reminded me of back home of the Calatrava with its cables and appearance. The Putra Mosque tour was too much for me as I just took pictuires from the bridrge. I now regret not going, but at the time I was hurting with lack of sleep and pain in my back ...
''Lodha World One '' Worlds Tallest Tower Mumbai Mumbai will have the world's tallest residential building, nearly half a km in height, by 2014, providing an unhindered view of the city from all sides. mumbai-skyscraperCity-based realty group Lodha Developers will collaborate with two New York-based firms to build an over 450 metre residential tower at Worli in south-central Mumbai at a cost of Rs 2000 crore ($ 424.67 million), the company said here on Tuesday. "The project has been christened World One and will be built on a 17-acre site at Worli (south-central Mumbai). It will include a 117-storeyed tower, around 1450 feet, which will be the world's tallest residential building," said the firm's managing director Abhisheck Lodha. The World One complex, which will have two more towers, shall offer 300 exclusive 3-4 bedroom flats, lavish villas with private swimming pools and a few duplex suites. "The unique 360 degrees curved design will enable all the residents an unrestricted view of entire Mumbai from all sides," he added. Lodha Developers has tied up with New York's architectural firm, Pei Cobb Free & Parners, and structural consultants, Leslie E Robertson Associates, for the prestigious project which will be a landmark in Mumbai. The construction is expected to be carried out by one of the top civil engineering firms — those in the fray include Samsung Constructions, L&T and Grocon. The construction work on the project will start in a couple of months and it is ...
From Connecticut, we traveled to Boston, one of the oldest cities in the United States, and the largest city in New England, as Boston is sometimes regarded as the unofficial "Capital of New England." The city was the site of several firsts, including America's first public school, Boston Latin School (1635), the first subway system in the United States, and the first public library (Boston Public Library), publicly supported. BPL is the first large library open to the public in the United States, and the first public library to allow people to borrow books and other materials and take them home to read and use. Our first stop in Boston was a visit to Henry W. Longfellow Historic Site in Cambridge. His home served as headquarters for General George Washington during the Siege of Boston, July 1775 - April 1776. However, at the time of our visit, the place was closed for spring break. Only the gardens were open. From Longfellow's home, we went on a walking tour of Harvard University campus. Established in 1636 by the colonial Massachusetts legislature, Harvard is the oldest institution of higher learning in the United States, named after its benefactor, British-born John Harvard of Charlestown, a young minister who, upon his death in 1638, left his library and half his estate to the new institution. A special point of interest to us was the Harry Elkins Widener Memorial Library, commonly known as Widener Library, the primary building of the library system of Harvard ...
In Serbian. RTS 100421 - The Avala Tower, one of Belgrade's symbols and with its 204.5 meters the tallest construction in the Balkans, has been opened today, at the same place it had taken before being destroyed by Nato in 1999. The new facility was opened by Belgrade's Mayor Dragan Djilas, who said that the tower should not be a reminder of the past, but rather the message for the future. - The original tower was constructed from 1961 to 1965 and was the pride of Yugoslav socialist engineering. It was the only tower in the world to have had an equilateral triangle as its cross section and one of very few towers not perched directly into the ground, but standing on its legs. As the decades passed, people got used to 'The Tower' as a landmark of Belgrade, an orientation upon arriving to Belgrade and leaving it. - On April 29, 1999, it was bombed by Nato war planes, supposedly to put the national Serbian TV off the air. But, for the most part, that did not work, since RTS (Radio and Television of Serbia) was broadcasting via many local TV stations across Serbia. - Wikipedia tells us that the blast was one of the loudest explosions heard throughout Belgrade during the 78 days and nights of Nato's merciless bombardment of the then Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. It was the third tallest structure in the world ever destroyed (after the Twin Towers of the WTC). - Full report: is.gd

LINK- merrillk.com get started. with the most common unit of measurement- a head length. Head lengths are the most common measurement in figure drawing From antiquity through the Renaissance, artists painted and sculpted figures that were 8 or 9 head lengths tall. For instance, Michelangelo's David, when measured, is 8 head lengths tall. The proportions of the David are idealized and heroic and different than the proportions of the average person, such as myself. I measured 7 1/4 head lengths tall. Now, I could never get a consistant answer on how many headlengths tall the average human body is....so I decided to construct an experiment. have read in some places that the body is as short as 7 head lengths and as tall as 8. I measured 100 people. 50 males and 50 females....right now you are seeing only a small sample... I made sure to include various body types to make this study scientific. I was able to learn that a humans proportions in head lengths is directly related with a persons height. The shortest person measured only 5 and 1/3 head lengths...the tallest was 8 and a half head lengths. ...But the vast majority were very close to 7.5 head lengths....and When I averaged the 100 people together, the result was 7.47 head lengths. Merrill! What the Hell is that .....and how does this relate to figure drawing? ......Oh dont worry, this chart shows you a normal distribution of heights. All that you need to know is that you can use 7.5 head lengths as a fairly accurate ...

Here we are riding the fastest elevators I have ever ridden on at Commerce Court West serving floors 44-56. I dont know if you can hear the doors clunking but these things are rockets! Note to Manager or any employee at Commerce Court West: Please do us a favour; I have noticed that there are optical turnstiles for the High-Rise elevators. Please dont activate them, I enjoy riding these elevators whenever I visit downtown Toronto. They are the fastest and are so much fun to ride. We, elevator enthusiasts would never cause harm to anyone. The security gates are like barricades to tourists and elevator enthusiasts. Ive been in all the tallest buildings in Toronto and these elevators are the fastest in Canada. There are no other elevators around Canada that reach the speed of these ones. I would have to consider these elevators are point of interest. I have ridden these elevators lots of times and it gets me all excited to feel the G-Force! Turnstiles blocking access to elevators are our worst nightmare and some employees have problems scanning their card on the reader. I have also noticed that the Low-Rise and Low/Mid-Rise Elevators are blocked off by turnstiles. Sorry, I dont mean to say all this but I am a bit nervous when the time comes for the turnstiles to become in use for all elevator banks especially for the 44-56 elevators, we cant ride them or visit this wonderful landmark. This is not a rant, I am stating my opinion.

Tens of thousands gathered in front of Taipei City Hall on New Years Eve to welcome the arrival of 2010 with concerts and fireworks around the landmark Taipei 101 building. Traffic restrictions were in place by 7:00 pm local time as residents poured into the area for the best view of the fireworks. The crowd counted down the final seconds of 2009, as fireworks shot out from the eight corridors around Taipei 101, the world's tallest building. The 220 thousand shot display was spent in just over 3 minutes and cost about 1 million US dollars. NTDTV's official YouTube Channel got taken down for some weird reason, so I thought it would be a good time to upload some of their noteworthy videos again and it's also to remind you guys that you can actually still find ALL their programming on their website: english.ntdtv.com - So just cause Google is probably bowing to China again doesn't mean they are gone - go visit their website, they don't only have news on human rights in China, but have 24 hour programming with live streaming.

Mister JD in New York City 2009! It was all a dream! New York is the most populous city in the United States, and the center of the New York metropolitan area, which is one of the most populous urban areas in the world. A leading global city, New York exerts a powerful influence over worldwide commerce, finance, culture, fashion and entertainment. As host of the United Nations headquarters, it is also an important center for international affairs. The city is often referred to as New York City to differentiate it from the state of New York, of which it is a part. Located on a large natural harbor on the Atlantic coast of the Northeastern United States, the city consists of five boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. The city's 2008 estimated population exceeds 8.3 million people,[2] and with a land area of 305 square miles (790 km2),[3][4] New York City is the most densely populated major city in the United States.[5] The New York metropolitan area's population is also the nation's largest, estimated at 18.8 million people over 6720 square miles (17400 km2).[6] Furthermore, the Combined Statistical Area containing the Greater New York metropolitan area contained 22.155 million people as of 2008 Census estimates, also the largest in the United States. New York was founded as a commercial trading post by the Dutch in 1624. The settlement was called New Amsterdam until 1664 when the colony came under English control.[7] New York served as the ...

Here are sights and sounds of an early October afternoon in beautiful downtown Los Angeles, more specifically, Weller court in Little Tokyo. In this video you will see many downtown LA landmarks such as the LA skyline which includes the tallest building in the western United States, the US Bank building (also known as the Library tower). You might remember the US Bank building as the first building destroyed by the alies in the sci-fi movie "Independence Day". In this video you can also see Los Angeles city hall, where the Mayor of Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa works.
This is a POV of the Twilight Zone Tower Of Terro at Disney's California Adventure. POV filmed by The Coaster Views. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, more commonly known as Tower of Terror, is a drop tower thrill ride at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's California Adventure Park, Tokyo DisneySea and Walt Disney Studios Park. It is based upon the television show The Twilight Zone. The original version of the attraction opened at Disney's Hollywood Studios in July 1994, with the California Adventure version opening nearly ten years later, in May 2004. The Tokyo DisneySea version—named simply "Tower of Terror" and featuring a modified storyline—opened in September 2006, followed by the Walt Disney Studios Park version in April 2008. The attraction takes place in the fictional Hollywood Tower Hotel (itself inspired by the Hollywood Tower, named a historic landmark by the US Department of the Interior). The story of the hotel, adapted from elements of the television series, includes the hotel being struck by lightning on October 31, 1939, mysteriously transporting an elevator cart full of passengers to the Twilight Zone and causing an entire wing of the building to disappear. The exterior of the attraction resembles an old hotel with a blackened scorch mark across the front of the façade where the lightning struck it. All of the cast members wear a costume that resembles that of a 1930s bellhop. At over USD$1000 per uniform, it is the most expensive costume in the ...
This old song tells of beloved places and landmarks in the area surrounding Mount Ka`ala, the tallest peak on O`ahu. The text was originally a chant composed in the time of Kamehameha II, King Liholiho. This video is also a bit of a test of the low light capabilities of the Kodak Zi8. This was shot at 10:00PM, with only about 80 watts of incandescent light available, in the form of two table lamps. Audio was captured using a Zoom H2 as an external mic. Unfortunately my recording space is a lanai, with Kailua Beach on one side and a busy street on the other, and the breeze blowing through the trees all around, so there's a fair amount of noise in the clip.
