Freddie is an ex student of Thomas Tallis School and a gifted illustrator. As part of our 'Past, Present & Future' festival of creativity, we commissioned him to return to school to share his memories in the form of a mural. He did a remarkable job and this short film documents the process. Freddie's is the first of a series of creative interventions throughout 2010-11 prior to our move to a new school and the demolition of the existing building.
John Barbirolli Born: 12/2/1899 - Holborn, London, England Died: 7/29/1970 - London, England Ralph Vaughan Williams (12 October 1872 -- 26 August 1958) Thomas Tallis, English composer (ca. 1505 - 1585) Ralph Vaughan Williams was born on 12 October 1872 in Down Ampney, Gloucestershire, where his father, the Revd Arthur Vaughan Williams was vicar. Following his father's death in 1875 he was taken by his mother, Margaret Susan née Wedgwood, the great-granddaughter of the potter Josiah Wedgwood, to live with her family at Leith Hill Place. As a student he had studied piano, "which I never could play, and the violin, which was my musical salvation." After Charterhouse School he attended the Royal College of Music (RCM) under Charles Villiers Stanford. He read history and music at Trinity College, Cambridge, where his friends and contemporaries included the philosophers GE Moore and Bertrand Russell. One of his fellow pupils at the RCM was Leopold Stokowski and during 1896 they both studied organ under Sir Walter Parratt. Stokowski later went on to perform six of Vaughan Williams's symphonies for American audiences. Another friendship made at the RCM, crucial to Vaughan Williams's development as a composer, was with fellow-student Gustav Holst. I composed this for my A2 Film Music coursework for my A level music. The music was to reflect the action and emotion with the very beginning of the film. Oh and sorry about the distorted sound, when it was converted it came out like this but somehow adds to the effect. Enjoy :)

This is a 7 minute introduction to a film which I have created for my A2 Media Studies coursework. It has took me forever to edit, shoot and make! All materials within the film are my own and are taken by me during post production. Vaughan Williams well known Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis. The pictures were taken over a few years in and around the Hanault Forrest which apparently was part of Epping Forrest. Well, after some failed attempts to upload a comparison between Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and "Through the Fires..." from the Troy soundtrack (because the theme used is "Rememeber Me" and them douchebags at Warner won't let music owned by them be used in videos), here are some more similarities in scores. In October 2008, Thomas Tallis School held an African-Caribbean Extravaganza as part of Black History Month. Many of the students and staff contributed to the event and it was a fantastic success. This film was shot by the students and staff of Thomas Tallis and put together by myself.

A short film of the Creative Tallis Action Research Group's trip to Rivington Place in Hackney as part of their research into creative learning.
This is an example of how a film that already has subtitles can be made more accessible by the addition of invision signing. The deaf instructor at Thomas Tallis watched the film a few times and then stood opposite a screen and signed along to the subtitiles - quite an achievement! His signing was then chroma keyed and then added to the original. You can imagine how impressed the students were to see a familiar face make it onto the big screen.
