The April 2010 tornado outbreak was a multi-day tornado outbreak across a large portion of the Southern United States, originally starting in the High Plains on April 22, 2010 and continuing through the Southern Plains on April 23, the Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys on April 24 and finally ending in the Southeast coast on April 25. The most severe activity was on April 24, particularly in Mississippi. The outbreak was responsible for ten tornado-related fatalities on April 24, all in Mississippi from a single supercell that crossed the entire state. The most catastrophic storm of the entire outbreak cultivated over northern Louisiana during the late morning hours of April 24. The first report of damage was received shortly after 11:00 am CST (1600 UTC) near the city of Tallulah, Louisiana. From that point, the supercell tracked from west to east across the entire state of Mississippi for the next 4 hours, weakening as it entered Alabama just before 3:00 pm CST (2000 UTC). Along the way, it produced severe damage in several locations including the Eagle Lake area of Warren County, Valley Park in Issaquena County, Satartia and Yazoo City in Yazoo County, Ebenezer and Durant in Holmes County, areas north of Kosciusko in Attala County, French Camp and Chester in Choctaw County, north of Starkville in Oktibbeha County, and east of West Point in Clay County. I've wanted to make this video for quite some time now. I've compiled all the extracts from "The Big Show" in which there were references to Bette Davis. Bankhead later explained in her autobiography: "The gossips and the gad-abouts made a great to-do about Bette Davis's characterization of a truculent actress in All About Eve. These busybodies said Miss Davis had patterned her performance after me, had deliberately copied my haircut, my gestures, my bark, and my bite. For comedy reasons this charge was fanned into a feud on my radio show. I was supposed to be seething with rage over the alleged larceny. In superficial aspects Miss Davis may have suggested a boiling Bankhead, but her over-all performance was her own." The Big Show was a 90-minutes radio show which ran from 1950 to 1951 on NBC. It was hosted by Tallulah Bankhead, and every Sunday evening she entertained the audience with many many stars. Ad-libs and witty lines made this show successful. The t-shirts in the stores read "Paddle Faster. I hear banjo music" All the audience did when they heard the banjo playing was tap their toes. That's not entirely true. Some got up and danced on the makeshift wooden floor designed just for clogging. When I discovered this festival [with the guidance of an enthusiastic bluegrass fan] last year I was enamored with it so when the opportunity came to return this year I jumped at it. It was better this year. Different. More family. Community at work. There was a fund raising effort on Saturday night for a family with a child who is not well. It was moving to see a community come together to support one of their own. A few thousand dollars were raised and the speeches of the parents showed deep appreciation. The standing ovation following the speeches perhaps spoke of the crowds admiration for a family facing difficult times. The diversity of humanity was wonderful to see. All mixed in together. There were the tattooed bikers all dressed in the finest torn jeans and leathers. Too there were the teens toasting marshmallows on the fire wearing their newest t-shirts or their collegiate caps they brought back home for the summer after their 1st year in the city. Added to that were the children dancing, prancing, around among the audience, cute, cuter, and cutest. Then there were the members of the volunteer fire brigade and the local police. Parents, grand parents, great grandparents. The songs spoke of many things. Human things ...
