This video shows how I built my teleprompter using $15 worth of materials and a smart phone. I use a free application on my iPhone called iPrompt with my teleprompter. Unbelieveable! It all makes sense now. You have to listen to this The attached Obama short speech was delivered spontaneously and without the aid of his ubiquitous teleprompter, apparently while vacationing at Camp David .... Delivered outdoors, it was apparently taped by an alert news person with a handy video camera. The sound is rather good considering the outdoor conditions and the apparent spontaneity of the event. Listen carefully to his words. Credit where credit is due, he actually makes more sense than anything he has said in almost three years as President and two years prior to that while on the campaign trail. I do not own the footage - It was sent to me in an email but I figured the entire world must be waiting to hear what Obama has to say when there is no teleprompter around to aid him
Obama speaks impromptu on debt ceiling plan. Atypically he speaks outdoors over a fence, impromptu and without the aid of TelePrompter's or notes. That he comes across as whiny is typical for conservatives, but if this is music to your ears you may be a flaming liberal. I have always remembered it , and have been searching for it for a long time. It's topical for the time, in that it suggests what might have happened to a live soap opera if the teleprompter (the device from which the actors read their lines) malfunctioned. They run through this innocuous sketch once with a "perfect" teleprompter, then do it a second time with the teleprompter out of control. No holds were barred, slapstick at its best. Joan gets to play the first time totally straight and schmaltzy, resisting the temptation to be funny. This restraint pays off big time the second time through, when she uses her physical expertise to the max. The support of the other actors is amazing, they looked like they were all having a great time. In fact, if you look closely at this thumbnail, you'll see Joan stifling a laugh! Hubert Schlafly, the inventor of a revolutionary piece of television equipment, has died. Schlafly invented the teleprompter, or autocue as its sometimes known, in the 1950s. He was an engineer for Twentieth Century Fox and approached by a soap opera actor who was struggling to remember his lines. What he came up with was a monitor facing the person appearing on screen, rolling script at reading speed. The device has become a staple of modern broadcasting - rescuing decades' of actors, politicians, and newscasters from embarrassment on live TV. Schlafly was 91 years old.
