During the Nebraska and Texas there was a play that happened when a Texas player runs out of bounds. Clock stops while the play clock keeps going. When the play clock hits 26 the game clock starts running again!! the clock stops again when Texas calls for a time out. Now tell me that the Big 12 isn't in favor of Texas.
The Oklahoma Sooners cruise past the Iowa State Cyclones, 52-0. it was a long night for ISU as OU's DeMarco Murray sets an OU record with his 58th career touchdown. Landry Jones was 30 of 34 passing. Ryan Broyles breaks an OU game record with 15 catches. I also talk about the Nebraska upset loss to Texas, as well as Mizzou, Oklahoma State, and Baylor exceeding expectations. Up next for the Sooners, a prime time on ABC Oct. 23 at the Missouri Tigers. Expect Oklahoma to be ranked no lower than #4 in the new BCS standings, to be released Oct. 17.
October 16, 2010 Texas beat Nebraska yet again, and this time there was no doubt. Garrett Gilbert got the Longhorns out to a two-touchdown lead in the first half and their defense shut down Taylor Martinez to key a 20-13 upset Saturday, a crushing first defeat for a fifth-ranked Cornhuskers team that was out to avenge last year's loss in the Big 12 championship game. Texas Longhorns (4-2, 2-1 Big 12) Nebrask Cornhuskers (5-1, 1-1 Big 12)

In this Game of the Week Preview from TheGamingTailgate.com, we spotlight the Texas at Nebraska. In their final season as a member of the Big 12, will Nebraska take out 15 years of frustration on Texas or will the Longhorns break the collective hearts of Husker Nation one last time?
2002 Texas @ Nebraska An exciting game with Nebraska coming off the BCS title game from the prior season and Texas loaded with NFL talent. Nebraska lost at home in 1991 then had a 47 game home win streak broken by Texas in 1998. Nebraska then had another 26 game streak to again be broken by Texas in 2002. Without Texas, the Huskers probably win 75 in a row at home over about 11 seasons Interesting note: UT DB/LB Lee Jackson # 23 played in both the 1998 and 2002 games, probably the only opposing player to win @ Lincoln twice in a 30 or 40 year span. FIRST HALF: Several big plays in the first half from both teams but drives were stopped by good defensive plays or incompletions (some dropped passes which plagued Simms). Simms to Roy was working magnificently and Ivan Williams had an impressive run after catch. The first half ended at 6-3 UT leading, with UT blocking a FG as the half expired. Despite the low score, a Greg Davis offense surprisingly wide open. NU starts the first drive with a big run but is stopped by a loss by Cory Redding and have to settle for a FG. 3-0 Huskers NU gets the ball again and Jammal Lord puts on a beautiful hesitation fake on a long run for a first down. But Rod Wright and Reed Boyd stop them on 4th down deep in UT territory. UT drives with great Roy catches and a Cedric Benson run but the drive stalls in the red zone and UT gets a FG from Dusty Mangum. Tied 3-3 NU throws an INT deflected off Redding to Nathan Vasher. Long pass to Benson goes ...
This could be described as a Perfect Storm of Good and Terrible television. First it starts with Brent Mushberger describing how Charlie McBride started the Blackshirt tradition at Nebraska. Wrong Brent, just a quick search would show you that tradition was started during the 1964 season under Bob Devaney and assistant coach Mike Corgan, who bought the blackshirts as a way to distinguish offensive from defensive players. This happend 13 YEARS prior to Charlie McBride being part of the Nebraska staff. Then in the middle of the video, you have Ndamukong Suh's infamous "ragdoll" of Colt McCoy that was probably one of the most memorable plays of 2009. Then in an explanation of what just transpired, Kirk Herbstreit butchers Prince Amukamara's name (for the second time in the broadcast). Get a media guide you hacks. If you're gonna annouce the game, KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT
The 15th ballad on Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music was Bandit Cole Younger as sung by Edward L. Crain. You can read more about each song on the Anthology at oldweirdamerica.wordpress.com The owner of that blog is also on youtube at http Bandit Cole Younger tells the story of some true life events of Cole Younger who was a member of the Jessie James gang. Bandit Cole Younger (traditional) I am a noted highwayman Cole Younger is my name 'Tis deeds and desperation That brought my name to shame. Robbing of the Northfield bank Is a thing I'll never deny But which I will be sorry of Until the day I die. We started for old Texas That grand ole lone star state 'Twas there on Nebraska prairies The James Boys we did meet With knives, gun, and revolvers We all sit down to play A game of good ole poker To pass the time away. Across Nebraska prairies A Denver train we spy. I says to Bob, "We'll rob her As she goes rolling by." We saddled up our horses Northwestward we did go To the God forsaken country Called Minnie-soh-tee-oh. I had my eye on the Northfield bank When brother Bob did say Cole if you under-to-take the job You'll always curse the day. We stationed out our pickets Up to the bank did go 'Twas there upon the counter We struck our fatal blow Saying hand us out your money sir And make no long delay We are the noted Younger boys And spend no time in play The cashier being as true as steel Refused our noted band 'Twas Jesse James that pulled the trigger That ...
(WCCO) Gerri McWherter's essay on her friend and co-worker Barb Boger was moving. In it, McWherter cited numerous reasons why Boger should receive $500 from WCCO-TV and American Equity Mortgage for "Making a Difference." "We work at a group home with four men with mental disabilities," McWherter wrote. "Our job is to ensure that they have a happy and healthy life, and I believe their lives are the best they can be because of her." Our "Making a Difference" committee read many nominations, but Boger's work stood out. That's why we decided to surprise her at her Cokato workplace. WCCO-TV's Amelia Santaniello walked into the kitchen and told Boger the good news. "WCCO and American Equity Mortgage would like to give you $500 for all the fabulous work that you do with these four men," Santaniello said. A shocked and honored Boger replied, "Oh my goodness, unbelievable, thank you." McWherter said it's truly the kind of person Boger is that makes her deserving of this award. "She's got a heart the size of Texas," McWherter said. McWherter nominated her friend and co-worker not so much for what Boger does during her workday but for all the extra time she gives. "She takes them on days when she doesn't have to be here, to a game or what not, she's just, I don't know if she ever does anything for herself, so I think she should be rewarded for that," she said. Boger calls the residents her "guys." She takes Jeff, Will, Craig and Jim to games, plays and to the Minnesota State Fair ...

Haltom outfielder almost steals the All-Star show for the West Posted Sunday, Jun. 13, 2010 Comments (0) Recommend (4) Print Share Share Buzz up! Reprints Topics: Sport By DREW DAVISON Special to the Star-Telegram GRAND PRAIRIE -- In the fifth inning of the North Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star Game, Haltom outfielder Colton Brown made an eye-opening, diving catch in deep left field to save two runs. Cleburne coach Ross Taylor, who was coaching the West squad, thought that would be the play of the game, since the West held onto a 4-2 lead at the time. Everybody else did, too, as Brown got a standing ovation when he trotted back to the dugout. But the East rallied for four runs in the seventh inning and went on to a 6-4 victory on Sunday afternoon at QuikTrip Park. Still, the talk in the West dugout after the game centered on Brown's impressive catch. "It was hit pretty deep by the wall and I just laid out and caught it in my palm," said Brown, who has signed to play at Cisco College. "It was a big catch because of the base runners, and it felt good." Said Taylor: "Just a great catch. I probably jinxed it because I was telling the guys in the dugout that might be the play of the game. We just got some balls up late in the game and they took advantage." Indeed, the East came to life in the seventh inning with four runs. Trailing 4-2, it took the lead, highlighted by back-to-back doubles from Plano West outfielder Blake Parker and Frisco Wakeland catcher Greg ...

Here's a video of me and Twee, doing an acoustic cover of "Still Alive", a song from the ending credits of an epic video game "Portal". It's been a joke that Twee and I kicked around the drawing board for a while. I thought it would be funny if she sang the song, and she wasn't very enthused about the idea. However, I think she liked the song anyway. During Thanksgiving of '08, we tried to play this song for her brother Hoang. We knew that he would know the song. Little did we know that he would love our version better. However, we didn't get a chance to record it then. Since Twee was on a weekend getaway from Nebraska to Texas during the Memorial Day weekend of 2010, and we had planned for the longest to record a few music vids I bugged her about doing this song. Luckily, when we found some time and a place to do our music vids, it was at Hoang's apartment. She had to do it! lol

CEO of Nucor talks about national and international business ethics.
It didn't take long for the newly minted Bowl Coalition to reveal its imperfections. After its successful debut in 1992, controversy descended upon the Bowl Coalition in 1993 when, late in the season, several events almost destroyed its credibility. It all began on November 13 when #1 Florida State traveled to South Bend, Indiana to take on #2 Notre Dame. After an epic battle, the Seminoles fell to the Irish by the score of 31-24. Notre Dame moved up to #1 and lost its very next game to Boston College by the score of 41-39. Notre Dame and FSU had finished 1993 with identical records. Notre Dame won the head to head match up but had lost later in the season. In a move that caused much controversy, the Bowl Coalition decided to invite Florida State and not Notre Dame to the Orange Bowl to play for the national championship. What made this decision even more controversial was the fact that Notre Dame and Florida State weren't even ranked in the Top 2 in one of the major polls. The Coaches Poll had undefeated Nebraska and undefeated West Virginia ranked #1 and #2. Nevertheless, the Orange Bowl would feature #1 Florida State taking on #2 Nebraska for the national championship. While it was true that Nebraska was undefeated, the media showed the Cornhuskers no love at all. 11-1 Florida State was considered by most in the media to be superior to Nebraska and were therefore given the #1 ranking instead of the undefeated Huskers. Vegas, too, had a hard time believing in Nebraska ...

SAN DIEGO -- After developing a reputation for high-scoring games and crazy finishes, the Holiday Bowl finally got the first shutout in its 32-year history. It wasn't close, either. Zac Lee threw a 74-yard touchdown pass to Niles Paul in the third quarter to highlight a 33-0 rout by Nebraska (No. 22 BCS, No. 20 AP) against Arizona (No. 20 BCS, No. 22 AP) on a rainy Wednesday night. The coaches expected a defensive game, and the Huskers delivered, earning their first shutout in 46 bowl appearances. Fast Facts • Nebraska had its first shutout in 46 all-time bowl appearances. • No team had scored fewer than 10 points in the Holiday Bowl. • Nebraska has its first 10-win season since 2003. -- ESPN Stats & Information Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, the AP College Football Player of the Year and a Heisman finalist, had only three tackles, including one for a loss, in his final college game. But he helped the Huskers harass Arizona quarterback Nick Foles all night. Suh even went out for a pass early in the third quarter on second-and-4 from the Arizona 5, but Lee didn't throw his way. Suh had been on the bench for most of Arizona's final drive, but came back in for a goal-line stand, along with some other starters. The Wildcats had the ball fourth-and-3 at the Nebraska 8-yard line with 1:41 to go before safety PJ Smith batted down Foles' pass to preserve the shutout.
