This is a little video I put together telling a little about my family history
Inchcolm is an island in the Firth of Forth in Scotland. Inchcolm lies in the Firth of Forth off the south coast of Fife opposite Braefoot Bay, east of the Forth Bridge, south of Aberdour, Fife, and north of the City of Edinburgh. It is separated from the Fife mainland by a stretch of water known as Mortimer's Deep. Repeatedly attacked by English raiders during the Wars of Scottish Independence, it was fortified during both World Wars to defend nearby Edinburgh. Inchcolm now attracts visitors to its former Augustinian Abbey.

My respect for Bob Crow grows by the week, and I find I have much more in common with this man than most of the Scots who comprise the opposition in Holyrood. He is one of the very few Question Time panellists on whom I can rely to say the things I wish the panellists would say -- even when I don't agree with them -- rather than the obfuscations, evasions and establishment cant that often characterises the usual contributions. Among the select few who do say what has to be said, in addition to Bob Crow, I include George Galloway, Ken Clarke, Shami Chakrabarti and Salma Yaqoob, not to mention Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon. Bob Crow is the kind of Englishman I would like to see in government once England rediscovers itself as a great nation after it abandons its faded dreams of Empire, ie after Scotland secures its independence, closely followed by Wales and Northern Ireland. I was most struck by the point he made when asked if Alex Salmond and Kenny MacAskill would present themselves in response to the 'invitation', ie peremptory summons to appear before a Senate Committee and account for their decision to release Megrahi. I quote Bob Crow - "But however, I want to say this --- the American Government has got some cheek to talk about some of the things that has happened over here, when it has got itself involved illegal wars all over the world, dropped chemical on people, tortured people and the scenario in Guantanamo Bay in Cuba -- and five Cubans languish in jail in ...
Noblest of northern castles The great castle of Kildrummy stands serene and confident, even in its present ruined state. In its heyday, back in the Middle Ages, it dominated Strathdon as the castle of the mighty earls of Mar. Of all the many fine castles of NE Scotland -- a region dubbed 'Castle Country' -- Kildrummy has no rivals. Not for nothing is it known as 'the noblest of northern castles'. Throughout its long and distinguished history, Kildrummy was seldom far from the political spotlight. It was built in the mid-13th century, in an age when the Scottish kings were battling to overcome the rebellious province of Moray further north. Kildrummy guarded the main routes from the south as they converged, before being funnelled northwards into Moray and Buchan. Kildrummy figured prominently during the Wars of Independence of the early 14th century. In later centuries, the castle became a residence of the Elphinstones, before resuming its role as seat of the earls of Mar after 1626. In 1715 the political spotlight fell on it for the last time. The Time Has come for Scotland's feedom from London rule . Look at the state of the place , socialy and economically Scotland is a mess . The UK is run aground , It's a sinking ship and we need to get of it to save ourselves . How can Scotland possibly advance in a UK that's bust ! Look at all the kids being brought up in Scotland in real social deprovation with all the hard drugs and cheap alcohol that's floating arround . leading to our disturbing heath statistics , the worst in Europe if not the western world . We need to unite to tackle the challenges we face as a nation and we need to do it together . We Need to stop being so negative about Scotland capability's . That comes from the dross we read in the so called Scottish newspapers and on the television . They are always and I mean always trying to put our mood down by sneakily grinding us down , giving us constant negative news and making us doubt what we are capable of . If you don't believe me then switch on the news tonight or find a newspaper , if you look you will find it . We will continue to be pushed aside as per usual , from our football teams to our children's well-being . Scotland is always pushed aside in this UK . Take it from me , WE CAN DO IT , WE CAN BE THE NATION WE DESERVE TO BE , WE CAN BE THE NATION WE KNOW WE SHOULD BE . Lets change Scotland for the better . We start by
The population development on Shetland has through the times been affected by deaths at sea and epidemics. Smallpox afflicted the islands in the 17th and 18th centuries, but as vaccines became common after 1760 the population increased to 40000 in 1861. The population increase led to a lack of food and many young men went away to serve in the British merchant fleet. 100 years later the islands' population was more than halved. This decrease was mainly caused by the large number of Shetlandic men being lost at sea during the two world wars and the waves of emigration in the 1920s and 1930s. Now more people of Shetlandic background live in Canada, Australia and New Zealand than in Shetland. The Shetland Islands Council provide services in the areas of Environmental Health, Roads, Social Work, Community Development, Organisational Development, Economic Development, Building Standards, Trading Standards, Housing, Waste, Education, Burial Grounds, Fire Service, Port and Harbours and others. The political composition of the Council is 22 Independents. In Shetland there are a total of 34 schools: two High Schools, seven Junior High Schools with primary and nursery departments, and 25 Primary Schools. The High Schools are Anderson High School and Brae High School. Shetland is also home to the North Atlantic Fisheries College. The Shetland NHS is the local Scottish health service in the Shetland Islands.Roy Grönneberg founded the local chapter of the Scottish National Party in 1966 ...
Here's tae us, wha's like us? Gey few and they're a' deid! Burns' poem inspired by Barbour's Brus. From an old reel-to-reel tape, singer unidentified as yet. Note that the singer has misguidedly changed a crucial line. He sings "but we shall be free" instead of "but they shall be free", ie the men at Bannockburn may die, but they are determined that their descendants will be free men.
Afghanistan was the subject of a public meeting held in Govanhill, Glasgow on March 30th. SSP's James Nesbitt, known for his years of anti-fascist and anti-racist activity, spoke of how unpopular the war in Afghanistan is among people in Britain (55% to 80%), not to mention virtually the whole Afghan population. The SSP has always been against the invasion of Afghanistan since the beginning in 2001 when the Sept 11th attacks were used as the pretext for invading Afghanistan (despite the fact that not a single Afghan citizen was involved in the attack.) At that time the British and American public were largely duped into thinking that Afghanistan was responsible for Sept 11th because the suspect for financing the attack Bin Laden was reputed to be hiding out in Afghanistan. The Taleban were wrongly linked with al Quaeda despite the fact that there is a very big difference politically between them and al Quaeda. The Taleban, as SSP co-spokesperson Colin Fox has said at other public meetings, are Pashtun nationalists, whereas al Quaeda are international mercenaries. The Taliban are only interested in Pashtunia, an area covering part of Afghanistan and part of Pakistan and keeping out western or other invaders. Al Quaeda, on the other hand are not interested in the tribal differences between the Pashtuns and other groups in Afghanistan and are not interested in independence for the Pashtuns. The only thing they have in common is that they are extreme religious fundamentalists ...

Stirling Castle, located in Stirling, is one of the largest and most important castles, both historically and architecturally, in Scotland. The castle sits atop Castle Hill, a volcanic crag, which forms part of the Stirling Sill geological formation. It is surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs, giving it a strong defensive position. Its strategic location, guarding what was, until the 1930s, the farthest downstream crossing of the River Forth, has made it an important fortification from the earliest times. Most of the principal buildings of the castle date from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. A few structures of the fourteenth century remain, while the outer defences fronting the town date from the early eighteenth century. Several Scottish Kings and Queens have been crowned at Stirling, including Mary, Queen of Scots, in 1543. There have been at least eight sieges of Stirling Castle, including several during the Wars of Scottish Independence, with the last being in 1746, when Bonnie Prince Charlie unsuccessfully tried to take the castle. Stirling Castle is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and is now a tourist attraction managed by Historic Scotland.
Comment below on whether you think Assassins Creed 3 should be based on a female assassin or not. Also decide if you wish Assassins Creed 3 to take place in London, Twentieth Century, during World War II. I think a female assassin is a good idea but I despise the time and place. Maybe it's because I'm Scottish and don't like England but I REALLY don't want Assassins Creed 3 to be in London, or any World War. I think it should take place in Scotland, in the Thirteenth Century, during the wars of Scottish Independence. You control a Scottish female assassin, friend to William Wallace, another assassin, and have to defeat the English templars. I think that's a great idea, I hope Ubisoft are reading this. Anyway, Comment below on everything I have just spoken about!

Filmed in front of a crackling fire, this fairly tale is about a heroic, legendary man named C-more. The song depicts just one of his many tales of adventure and courageousness which some say is God-like. During the late 1290's C-more, using his alter ego William Wallace, lead a resistance during the wars of Scottish Independence against the tyrant King Edward the 1st. It is estimated he killed 320 men. When he got bored of smiting people, C-more went for a jog. During his light jog C-more ended up carelessly tossing the ring of power into the fires of Mordor to save Middle Earth. People to this day still believe he roams the earth helping the innocent and striking down foes.
Scottish rulers tended to base themselves further north across the Forth, King Malcolm III Canmore (died 1093) built his castle at Edinburgh, and his wife Queen (Saint) Margaret built a chapel within its walls - now the oldest building in the city. Her son, David I built the Abbey at Holyrood, a mile to the East along "The Royal Mile". Castle and Abbey became the anchor points of Edinburgh; a thriving town grew up along side the road between them, connected to Leith, Edinburgh's port and trade-link to the world. (see map above) During the Wars of Independence Edinburgh Castle was captured by the English until Robert the Bruce's nephew, Thomas Randolph daringly recapture it by climbing its steep and craggy sides in the dead of night. Robert the Bruce granted Edinburgh a Royal Charter in 1329. If Edinburgh did not grow outwards at this time, it did grow upwards. By the end of the 1500's it was established as the Capital of Scotland, and growing in population the inhabitants chose to build high houses close to the protection of the Castle: high tenement buildings most of which can be seen to this day. When King James VI inherited the throne of England in 1603, Edinburgh ceased to be the principal site of the royal court, although it did continue to have its own Parliament.
Stirling (Gaelic: Sruighlea, Scots: Stirlin) is a city and former ancient burgh in Scotland, and is at the heart of the wider Stirling council area. The city is clustered around a large fortress and mediæval old-town beside the River Forth. Historically it was strategically important as the "Gateway to the Highlands", with its position near the boundary between the Scottish Lowlands and Highlands, and its crossing of the Forth, the nearest to the river mouth. It is a centre for local government, higher education, retail, and light industry. Its population (as of the 2001 census) was 41243, making it the smallest city in Scotland. One of the principal royal strongholds of the Kingdom of Scotland, Stirling was created a Royal burgh by King David I in 1130, which it remained until 1975, when the county of Stirlingshire was absorbed into Central Region. In 2002, as part of Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee, Stirling was granted city status. Originally a Stone Age settlement, Stirling has been strategically significant since at least the Roman occupation of Britain, due to its naturally defensible crag and tail hill (latterly the site of Stirling Castle), and its commanding position at the foot of the Ochil Hills on the border between the Lowlands and Highlands, at the lowest crossing point of the River Forth. It remained the river's lowest crossing until the construction of the Kincardine Bridge further downstream in the 1930s. It is supposed that Stirling is the fortress ...
Braveheart is a 1995 historical action-drama movie produced and directed by Mel Gibson, who also starred in the title role. The film was written for screen and then novelized by Randall Wallace. Gibson portrays a legendary Scot, William Wallace, who gained recognition when he came to the forefront of the First War of Scottish Independence by opposing Edward I of England (portrayed by Patrick McGoohan) and subsequently abetted by Edward's daughter-in-law Princess Isabelle (played by Sophie Marceau) and a claimant to the Scottish throne, Robert the Bruce (played by Angus Macfadyen). The film won five Academy Awards at the 68th Academy Awards, including the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Director, and had been nominated for an additional five. Produced by Icon Productions for Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox, the film's success helped revive the historical epic genre, with subsequent films such as Gladiator, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, 300, and Mongol. Edinburgh Castle Edinburgh Castle is an ancient stronghold which dominates the sky-line of the city of Edinburgh from its position atop the volcanic Castle Rock. Human habitation of the site is dated back as far as the 9th century BC, although the nature of early settlement is unclear. There has been a royal Castle here since at least the reign of David I in the 12th century, and the site continued to be a royal residence until the Union of the Crowns in 1603. As one of the most important fortresses in the Kingdom of Scotland, Edinburgh Castle has been involved in many historical conflicts, from the Wars of Scottish Independence in the 14th century, up to the Jacobite Rising of 1745, and has been besieged, both successfully and unsuccessfully, on several occasions. From the later 17th century, the Castle became a military base, with a large garrison. Its importance as a historic monument was recognised from the 19th century, and various restoration programmes have been carried out since. Few of the present buildings pre-date the Lang Siege of the 16th century, when the fortificatoins were largely destroyed by artillery bombardment. The notable exception is St Margaret's Chapel, the oldest surviving building in Edinburgh, which dates from the early 12th century. Among other significant buildings of the Castle are the Royal Palace, and the 15th-century Great Hall. The Castle also houses the Scottish National War Memorial, and National War Museum of Scotland. The Castle is ...

These figures were quoted from reports in the autumn and the debt levels in the UK have now greatly increased. The pound has also lost a quarter of its value as the world realises what a state we are in. From 1997, Gordon brown adopted and promoted Thatcher's free market ideals. He deregulated the banking system. This allowed collateral, backed with mortgages to be taken out of the control of British regulation and jurisdiction. He told us he would have a light touch on the Financial Sector. He told us there would be no more boom and bust. He sold off more than half the countrys gold reserves at the bottom of the market. He hid the massive rise in Government debt in Private Finance Initiatives (PFIs) which now amounts to £73bn. He encouraged the housing boom. Lending on dwellings now stands at £1216bn He encouraged living on credit. Lending to individuals now stands at £232bn. He has also built up more government, personal and corporate debt than any other UK government in history, including those that fought the world wars, the Korean War, the Falklands war, etc. IMF predicts that the UK will be the worst hit out of the worlds leading rich economies Now he has given Mandelson a peerage in order to serve in his Cabinet. The spin-doctor who embedded the culture of lies in the New Labour Party is back. He tells us that Scotland could not survive outside the Union. Who is he to tell us about the prosperity of the future of Scotland? This sad song reflects lost opportunities ...

I can hear heaven. I am so high. I can hear heaven. Oh but heaven, no heaven dont hear me. And they say that a hero can save us. Im not gonna stand here and wait. I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles. Watch as we all fly away. Someone told me love will ALL save us. But how can that be, look what love gave us. A world full of killing, and blood-spilling That world never came. And they say that a hero can save us. Im not gonna stand here and wait. I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles. In the movie Braveheart, actor Mel Gibson starred the roll of William Wallace, who was actually a real world hero, patriot, and freedom fighter in Scotland. Wallace led a coalition of patriots against the English occupied Scotland during the Wars of Scottish Independence. Something similar is happening in America right now. Ron Paul is the William Wallace of the United States. He is running on a campaign of Freedom... of Liberty... of the Constitution. We are living in times where major corporations run everything. Did you know the "Federal Reserve" is actually a private company merely intertwined within the Government? Despite what you may have previously thought, the Federal Reserve is not really federal. There's actually a small number of elite organizations that control what we watch on television, what we buy in stores; and what and how we insure a specific something or other; but --while small in number-- these organizations are vast in size. These are the conglomerates. They are holding companies af many subsidaries, which then hold subsidaries, and so on. News Corp, General Electric, and Berkshire Hathaway are just a few examples. What happaned to the good ol' days when GE only made light bulbs and household appliances? The media conglomerates want to control what you see on the news, and they do, especially during election times. Media conglomerates hate Ron Paul. Why? Because he is aware of the global elitists, the few companies who want to control the world ...
This is a nationalist reply to Labours pro Union video "building Scotland". This version shows the bits they forgot to mention. Including the illegal wars, the 30 years of lies regarding Scotland´s oil, the fact that trident is being forced upon the people of Scotland and just how much Scotland contributes to the unequal union. Independence now!
