I Gotta Feeling -- I'm a Korean PARODY SUBSCRIBE TO TheRawJokesTV www.youtube.com Humour or humor (see spelling differences) is the tendency of particular cognitive experiences to provoke laughter and provide amusement. The term derives from the humoral medicine of the ancient Greeks, which taught that the balance of fluids in the human body, known as humours (Greek: χυμός, chymos, literally juice or sap, metaphorically, flavour), control human health and emotion. People of all ages and cultures respond to humour. The majority of people are able to experience humour, ie, to be amused, to laugh or smile at something funny, and thus they are considered to have a sense of humour. The hypothetical person lacking a sense of humour would likely find the behaviour induced by humour to be inexplicable, strange, or even irrational. Though ultimately decided by personal taste, the extent to which an individual will find something humorous depends upon a host of variables, including geographical location, culture, maturity, level of education, intelligence and context. For example, young children may favour slapstick, such as Punch and Judy puppet shows or cartoons such as Tom and Jerry. Satire may rely more on understanding the target of the humour and thus tends to appeal to more mature audiences. Nonsatirical humour can be specifically termed "recreational drollery".[1][2] Many theories exist about what humour is and what social function it serves. The prevailing types of ...
Response to XOmniverse - www.youtube.com The definition of knowledge as 'justified true belief' prompts me to think about what we mean when we say something is 'true' and how this relates to 'belief'. Broadly speaking there are two general categories according to which truth is established; these are 'correspondence' and 'coherence'. A correspondence theory would say that a proposition is true if it corresponds to some phenomena in the physical world. My thought that there is a cat on the mat, as expressed by my saying 'the cat is on the mat', is true if, and only if, there is indeed a domesticated feline atop a floor covering. Correspondence theories therefore depend upon both an event in 'the outside world' and a cognitive state 'in my head' which I might call my belief. When these two components are in alignment then the proposition is true. Coherence theories of truth work differently however. In this case a proposition is true if it can be shown to be coherent within the system of concepts and proposition that it is claimed to be a part. So for example, the statement '2 + 2 = 4' is true if and only if it is coherent within the system of mathematics. This could be tested by imagining substituting the phrase '2 + 2' is any equation in place of the number 4. If the result is the same when these equations are solved then it has been shown that, within the system of mathematics, '2 + 2' is substitutable for the character '4' and therefore the proposition '2 + 2 = 4' is ...
we blocked the day and turned the lights out we walked down streets that have no names all we have now is this theory, but it don't matter anyway it melts away, well what did I lost? to char and flicker underground I was sitting on the edge of my own street staring at my weary feet what's the point? what does it mean? I realize there's no one there to intervene I'm not a creature or machine just a piece of one big thing the stars align and the clocks in motion, but emotion haunts the face broken down, it's a joke, no one's laughing, and now I am just left out in the cold I was sitting on the edge of my own street staring at my weary feet what's the point? what does it mean? I realize there's no one there to intervene I'm not a creature or machine just a piece of one big thing I want nothing to do with the theories I am another fucked up plan
Dr. Ken Tangen gives an introduction to several theories of emotion. What happens when you see a bear/ Do you feel first and then run? Run and then feel? Or is there another explanation?

A reoccurring question of this class has been, why study film theory? Although the easy answer is, because its a requirement, the harder answer may have been answered for me by making this film. I went into the editing room with the intention of disproving a majority of the theories weve studied. I planned to refute Munsterberg and Arnheim by making a work that needed normal diegetic sound that matched the action. I planned to challenge Eisenstein by using long takes to convey emotion and having one shot be able to communicate meaning without being juxtaposed by another. I planned to disagree with Balazs by having every shot be as real as possible without any kind of distortion. I planned this instead of did it because the plan I had in my head for this film ended up being a total disaster when I actually started editing it together. What I've posted now is the same footage with which I intended to disprove our theorists and instead, supported them. I began by chopping up the long shots for Eisenstein. I moved sound from its original visuals (those visuals I ended up taking out altogether) and used it in different ways for Arnheim. I distorted reality by moving this sound as well as putting images on top of others and played with color to make clear this was not a true reproduction to agree with Balazs' idea of cinematic world and the fact that film cannot grasp reality. In his words, I did this to de-familiarize the world with techniques but still be able to recognize it ...
twitter.com These are my live reactions and recaps of LOST episode "What Kate Does" as I was watching it February 9, 2010. From the album "The Armageddon Theories" (1999), a great piece of technical death metal played by these Swedish guys. This video is just a tribute made for promotional and entertaining purposes. I do not own any copyrights on these material. Lyrics: Becoming painfully aware of the fact, alive mankind does more harm than good Pierced by this knowledge of god I'm becoming an angel of extermination Not guilty of my acts anymore, possessed My body totally controlled by the pure unquestionable essence of god Must cleanse this world of disease, mankind I mourn the lives I take but it's not my choice nor will I bring salvation shaped as steel, sharp enough to rid you of your sins Feel my prayer sink deep into your flesh, feel the divinity of the blade Feel... Behold the programmed will to live, printed in your genes Alive you do more harm than good Embrace my mercy killing, adrenaline blinding my mind Struck by the rush and every last trace of emotion gone numb, as I lay you to rest My god is burning behind my very eyes Penetrated my chosen mind with force Chanting the gift of life has been withdrawn Commanding me to kill and erase the mistake, erase... Spawned from the visionaire, a fire burning out of hand Mankind a vision that should not be Extinction, my purpose clear in life with god inside my mind I embrace my fate and every last trace of emotion gone numb, as I lay you to... Rest.

Through the years, Dan has lectured on the evolution of consciousness, sacred geometry and coherent emotion at many national and international conferences. His theories in coherent emotion inspired the notable research at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo and the Heart Math Institute in California in the mid-nineties. Results published by Dr. Glen Rein provided conclusive evidence supporting Dan's heart entrainment theories. The effect of coherent ordering of the Heart harmonics during the feeling of compassion was measured replicably effecting the braiding/ the programming of DNA. The "Heart Beat Earth Project" for global coherence is a dream which Dan believes can "teach self awareness" using the internet as a tool. Through the use of a biofeedback devise connected to a home computer, the heartbeat at the moment of compassion registers a specific frequency signature that possesses very special properties. This frequency, or wave, can add and multiply itself infinitely and non-destructively, and can be experienced outside oneself. His experiments with humans sending love to trees have shown that the trees respond at a distance by entraining and aligning in phase to the heart, capacitively, at moments of peak emotion. This indeed tends to confirm that our choices to FEEL coherently may be our best leverage on fabricating ecoystems, perhaps ultimately surpassing the strength of bulldozers in shaping our world! As thousands of hearts are connected, a database records and ...

Shedding Light on Buckminster Fuller's Unknown Collaborator October 30, 2009 Interview with Professor Cheryl Fish. Visiting the Whitney Museum last year, BMCC English professor Cheryl Fish couldnt help noticing that an exhibition of Buckminster Fullers work lacked any mention of his long-time collaborator, June Jordan. A poet, essayist, educator and social activist, Jordan had worked closely with Fuller in the 1960s on Skyrise for Harlem, a conceptually daring architectural redesign of the neighborhoods crumbling tenements. Renderings of the project were featured in the show, but only Fullers name appeared. Correcting an historical omission Fish brought the lapse to the attention of the curators and provided materials that documented Jordans role. Soon thereafter, her name appeared alongside Fullers on a descriptive placard. I was happy to be able to make a difference in getting Jordans name in front of the public, Fish says. Now Fish has taken another step toward raising Jordans profile with the publication of an essay entitled Place, Emotion and Environmental Justice in Harlem: June Jordan and Buckminster Fullers 1965 Architextual Collaboration, published in Discourse, Journal for Theoretical Studies in Media and Culture (Wayne State University). The fact is, few people know about Jordan or her collaboration with Fuller, says Fish, whose English course often emphasize environmental justice issues in literature and film (she is also coordinator of BMCCs intensive writing ...

nai·ad (nd, -d, n-) n. pl. nai·a·des (--dz) or nai·ads THE NAIADES in Greek Mythology were fresh-water Nymphs who inhabited the rivers, streams, lakes, marshes, fountains and springs of the earth. They were immortal, minor divinities, The essence of a naiad was bound to her spring, so if a naiad's body of water dried, she died. much like their cousins "mermaids" they were quite seductive and were known to be dangerous, mermaids would sometimes sing to people and gods and enchant them, it is said that they forget that humans cannot breathe underwater, while others say they drown men out of spite- both theories are appealing. based on water, emotions, seduction, well you get the idea.... Learn More: leeds.colorado.edu The paper explores the theory of emotional accounting, or how emotions, good or bad, influence how people spend money. The research focused on windfalls, or unexpected sums of money, and the circumstances in which that windfall was received, such as an inheritance, an insurance settlement, a lottery winning, or a bonus from work. mcgraw explains that emotional accounting is a complement to mental accounting, a 20-year old concept describing how people put mental labels on their money that designate its different uses. There are a different set of rules of how that money should be spent, mcgraw explained. Money is your wallet is meant to be spent; money in your childrens college savings is not. mcgraw said his research compliments existing cognitive theories by delving into the emotional side of money. And what he and Levav discovered confirmed their hunch: the data from surveys and experiments showed that people could indeed have mixed emotions about receiving a windfall, essentially free money, mcgraw said, but the data also revealed diverse and compelling circumstances as to how and why.
RIP Walter Cronkite 1916-2009 From Wikipedia: Cronkite then continued to report for the next several minutes while still waiting official word of the President's apparent death. While continuing to affirm that there was no official confirmation he reminded viewers that the priests, Rather, and several government sources were relaying word that in fact Kennedy was dead. At approximately 2:38 pm EST, Cronkite was remarking on the increased security presence in Dallas for the President's visit for fear of protests, bringing up the assault on Adlai Stevenson again. While Cronkite was speaking one of two news editors who had been standing by the newsroom's two wire machines pulled a bulletin from the Associated Press machine and began walking toward Cronkite's desk with it. "Throughout the streets of Dallas, the Dallas Police have been augmented by some 400 policemen called in on their day off because there were some fears and concerns in Dallas that, uh...that there might be demonstrations, at least, that could embarrass the President. Because it was only on October 24 that our ambassador of the United Nations, Adlai Stevenson, was assaulted in Dallas leaving a dinner meeting there..." Just as he had said that, the editor handed Cronkite the bulletin. Cronkite stopped speaking, put on his eyeglasses, looked over the bulletin sheet for a moment, took off his glasses, and made the official announcement: From Dallas, Texas, the flash, apparently official: (reading AP flash ...
