Since any landing approach is heavily a matter of pilot perception, the pilot may have misjudged his height above the runway, made what he imagined was an allowable correction and literally bounced the whole aircraft off its nose gear.

The plane then rolled to the left, hit the runway with its left horizontal stabilizer and wing, caught fire and rolled over onto its back, coming to rest off the left side of the runway.
