I guess this is the spiritual sequel to Heartbeat, and originally id chosen an intense dubstep song to go with it. After two weeks of no progress with the editing, a discussion one evening with the 3 Ilabaca brothers made me seriously rethink where i wanted to go with this video. So, I wiped the slate clean and started over, with the song you hear now. As for the progressions, since i first did Heartbeat i sort of developed five different progressions in my head. Three of which have now been completed. There will be two more and then the series will be finished! This was filmed during my birthday week when everyone came to cambridge, so i guess it took about three days to get it all done. All the planned runs were thought up and filmed within about 20 mins. I edited the video in two days, using Final Cut Pro. In total, there were 62 children outside of the school at the time, and most of the teachers were inside the school at a meeting. It was reported that only one adult was supervising the recess that morning, a mother of one of the children. She operated a snack bar for the students, selling soft drinks, candies, and other favorites. There had been reports of UFOs in the skies over Zimbabwe only two days before, but it is unlikely that any of the students were aware of these reports. Ariel was a private elementary school, hosting students of all backgrounds. Several of the children stated that they had seen three unknown flying objects in the skies over the school prior to the landing. Students saw the UFOs disappear then reappear in a different place in the sky. Finally, at least one of the UFOs either landed, or hovered just above the ground. The UFO was only about 100 meters from the students at play. The object was in a heavily wooded area, which was off limits to the students for safety concerns. Soon, what the students described as a "small man" could be seen on the top of the UFO. The occupant of the craft was described as being about one meter (3 ft.) tall, with a slender neck, long black hair, and very large eyes. I found a few unexpected days of free time so I made another Weird Al Halo music video. I didn't have much time before classes start again so I got this cranked out in just two days from start to finish. That's a new personal record! The song is Ebay by Weird Al Yankovic, and this video is another in my line of Weird Al halo music videos. It's not as good as Hardware store or Everything you know is wrong videos, but I still think it turned out okay. However one thing I'm upset about is that the s-video input on my video capture device is broken. So I had to use the the composite video input and thus getting a lower quality video, the same problem applied to my Everything you know is wrong video. But, what can I do about it now... This is about the common juxtaposition between happiness and sadness. I had only the intro and half of the first verse in my head for two months, not being able to add anything at all. Then, I spoke to a certain friend about it and got the theme/idea of rain in my head. The following night, I finished the rest of the song: verses, chorus, bridge and all. I spent midnight to 5 am recording it (because my head was probably working really slowly by then) and this is the result. Read more - a log of my Yamaha APX500 warranty adventure. 12.01.09: The saddle of my guitar collapses towards the headstock over two days. 13.01.09: I try loosening the strings carefully to avoid further damage, but one of the strings snaps anyway. 14.01.09: I check the Yamaha's warranty page; it tells me to deliver the guitar to the shop I bought it from. I walk over to Musapörssi and ask the salesman for a diagnosis. He examines the guitar and writes "bridge bone broken" to a warranty claim, which he then gives to me. He says the guitar will be sent to the workshop right away and that it'll return in week. 24.01.09: I call the guitar shop in the morning, asking what's taking so long and they say the importer has supply problems. They call me again in the evening and say there is nothing wrong with the guitar. I simply state they are wrong and should stop lying. They then promise to "investigate the matter further" and end the call. 27.01.09: I visit the shop to discuss the matter entirely. They say the guitar is out of tune because of too low humidity. I ask them why the guitar was never sent to the workshop, calling them liars. They have nothing to say, but promise to show the guitar to an expert later that day. Many Obama supporters have claimed to debunk the video by pointing out that the events were not comparable. They argue that the event in Anbar province that President Bush attended in September 2007 was informal. The Camp Lejune event that President Obama attended, on the other hand, was more formal. They point out that it is not fair to compare two events in which the Marines are subject to different rules of behavior. In fairness, they are correct. The events were different in many ways and the Marines present were subject to different behavioral expectations. There is, however, more to this video than that. If the content of this video were that easily debunked it would not still be drawing tens of thousands of hits per day. The different degrees of formality aside, this video is quite revealing. In the video, the Marines exhibit obvious love and respect for President Bush. His visit was not an event that followed closely on the heels of 9/11. This video was taken after the worst days of the war and after the surge created major progress in the region. The president is visiting the troops in Anbar Province, the home of the infamous Falluja and Ar Ramadi killing grounds. This visit took place after the province had been pacified.
