Just before the start of the fall semester, new freshmen students and their families gathered in the UH West O'ahu courtyard to kick-off another exciting academic year at the University. Students and guests were welcomed by Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs Dr. Linda Randall and were treated to an inspiring address by UH West O'ahu Assistant Professor of Mathematics Dr. Linda Furuto who spoke about her personal academic journey and encouraged students to never give up and always give back to the community. A delicious dinner buffet from Hapa Grill was enjoyed by all.

Participating freshman had a blast during the Summer Bridge program this August. Designed to ease the transition from high school to college, the jam-packed week of festivities included sessions on college skills, science, makahiki games, math success and college reading and writing. All students who successfully completed the free program received one college credit.
The UH West O'ahu campus was alive with excitement on Friday, Aug. 13 for a fun-filled day of freshman frivolity. New freshman students met other fellow freshmen and had a blast participating in a UH West O'ahu scavenger hunt, playing the jargon bowl, relay races featuring a hilarious Oreo cookie game, faculty speed meeting and student panel discussions. Students took home a stash of UH West O'ahu gear including bags, T-shirts, notebooks, key chains and more.

This was an incredible dive. Got back to the Ulua Cave. Last weeks video did not do this site justice. The first time I dove this site I only managed to see as small portion of the resident Ulua school. This time I managed to intersect with them and got some great shots. On top of that, some good shots of the huge population of Hawaiian Longfin Anthias. Hope to dive this site some more as I know there has to be much more to find here.
