It was said these lights were offensive to non-Christians. However the non-Christians in the Association, the Hindus, Chinese, and Muslims all said they were not offended by the lights and found them entertaining. The Home Association then had to rescind their edict to remove the lights. In actuality it was not the non-Christians who were offended; it was the political correct Christian bashers who were offended. Also in the United Kingdom (England, Britain, etc) in East Sussex, the HMP Lewis Prison banned the use of a crucifix in the prison chapel. Instead a cross has to be used on a removable alter. While footbaths were added for Muslims to use before entering to pray. It was said the crucifix was offensive to Muslims. Why not remove all the empthy Christian Churches throughout the United Kingdom as not to offend non-Christians?
Budding recording artists from five primary schools across the Ladywood and Summerfield area will be promoting their first Eco CD at an official signing session in front of screaming fans at the Centennial Centre on Thursday 24 May. Through song, acts like, Shannon and The Solar Panel Sisters, will showcase their talents to The Lord Mayor of Birmingham elect, Councillor Randal Brew OBE and Lady Mayoress, Sandra Brew, friends, family and the media. All the children are on a mission to raise the awareness of energy issues to Birmingham citizens and hope their words will inspire the young generation in particular, to think about their environment and ways of saving energy and the planet. The Lord Mayor of Birmingham said: This is a remarkable project. The Housing Education Initiative has been extremely successful in bringing young people together to transmit the energy efficiency message. What a wonderful way to spread the message through song. Working with the City Councils Housing Education Initiative and CAN UK (design, media and communications company) children as young as nine are promoting the benefits of saving energy through the development of an eco educational website and pod casting radio station. Birmingham City Councils Housing Department and Family Housing Association (Birmingham) Ltd are working in partnership to deliver the project which is linked to the Summerfield Eco Neighbourhood project. This project is the first of its kind in the city with solar panels being fitted to 250 properties and the Eco Radio is the perfect opportunity for young people to get involved and promote green issues to local residents. Eco radio launch Lee Martin, CAN added: As a media company we are always keen to demonstrate how new technology can be used to harness and express issues that effect young people and their communities. On the day fans will also have an opportunity to meet Eco Radio presenters and the cast of Eco Hill, the first radio soap with a green message. Living under Circle 33 roof. Rain water leak problem. A picture is worth a thousand words. These clips are dedicated to my landlord Circle 33 Housing Association. I was given this Flat to live in back in 2003. It looked nice, clean and recently decorated. I was a bit surprise to find it in that condition. Now I know why! The previous tenant had problem (God knows for how many years) with rain water leaking through the ceiling and the windows frame to almost the entire flat(Living room, Bedroom and the kitchen). The tenant was moved to another property permanently because the problem persisted and I guess the tenant had enough and was fighting to be moved. They come and decorated the flat (Only the affected areas of course: Bedroom, Living Room and the kitchen) to conceal any signs of leaking, damage or damp. Who's the next victim? Unfortunately, it was me. A poor disabled guy who has already enough problems of his own. Anyway, I'll keep it short, after about 4 years living in that situation, complaints, 3 fail attempts of repair, 2 times redecorated , sleepless nights, psychological and nervous break down ....etc...... Result............ No result....... The problem is still there and it's going bigger and worse, I was moved temporarily to another property. Was told I can come back when the job is done! . What triggers my anger and rage is the Maintenance Officer emailing me and saying after inspecting the flat "I could perceive no damp/water ingress anywhere other than some slight water stains on the ceiling which would be caused by the tenants above" and asking me to advice him of the problems I was experiencing . Tenants above! Slight ... !advice him! Where all the history gone? No records, traces or reports of my problems, of the contractors, the property manager ,the surveyors ...etc A picture is worth a thousand words. Over one hundred children joined in celebrations yesterday to mark the launch of Eco Radio and the Centennial Centre in Birmingham. Young recording artists from five primary schools across the Ladywood and Summerfield area signed copies of the first Eco CD for adoring fans, friends and family. The world can now tune into HYPERLINK "http://www.eco-radio.co.uk" www.eco-radio.co.uk to hear songs from the CD together with news on local, national and international events on current eco issues. Also get up to date interviews and reports about the City's first 'Eco Show Home' in Summerfield Crescent, which is in the heart of the Summerfield Eco Neighbourhood. The Lord Mayor of Birmingham Councillor Randal Brew OBE and Lady Mayoress Sandra Brew presented certificates to performers, radio presenters of the future and the cast of the City's first radio soap with a green message -- "Eco Hill". The Lord Mayor of Birmingham said: "This is a remarkable project. The Housing Education Initiative has been extremely successful in bringing young people together to transmit the energy efficiency message. What a wonderful way to spread the message -- through song." Working with the City Council's Housing Education Initiative and CAN UK (design, media and communications company) children as young as nine are promoting the benefits of saving energy through the development of an eco educational website and pod casting radio station. Birmingham City Council's Housing Department and Family Housing Association (Birmingham) Ltd are working in partnership to deliver the project which is linked to the Summerfield Eco Neighbourhood project. This project is the first of its kind in the city with solar panels being fitted to 250 properties and the Eco Radio is the perfect opportunity for young people to get involved and promote green issues to local residents.
