ABC News Special Report broadcasted before the Marquette game.
News 14 anchor had a slip of the tounge. He meant to say NCAA. Oh Well UNC still sucks!
North Carolina announced Thursday night the school and the NCAA are expanding an investigation into possible violations, and those may include infractions related to agents. The school held a news conference and said it learned of possible academic misconduct involving a former undergraduate tutor and student-athletes on the football team. Head coach Butch Davis acknowledged one of the tutors worked for his family. The school didn't go into details about the possible infractions, but earlier this month, a pair of 2010 NFL draft picks from the school were reportedly involved in a latest of a string of incidents of apparent improper conduct under NCAA guidelines.

Chancellor Thorp announced May 4, 2010 that the University will end its use of coal in the next decade. The 2020 date for ending coal usage was one of six interim recommendations submitted to Thorp by the Energy Task Force that is studying energy issues on campus. As a step toward ending coal use, the cogeneration facility will test co-firing coal with biomass in the form of dried wood pellets later this spring and torrefied wood a product similar to charcoal this fall or winter. The University plans to replace 20 percent of its coal with biomass no later than 2015, and perhaps by 2012. Joining the Chancellor during today's announcement were Bruce Nilles, who oversees the Sierra Clubs national Beyond Coal campaign; Tim Toben, chair of the Universitys Energy Task Force and chair of the North Carolina Energy Policy Council; and Stewart Boss, a student member of the Beyond Coal campaign at UNC. To read more about this effort, please visit the Chancellor's Blog holden.unc.edu and the News Services website uncnews.unc.edu
As men and women age into their 60s, 70s, AND 80s, their bodies gradually lose bone. This decrease in bone density puts both at risk for wrist, spine and hip fractures. While there are current bone density screening guidelines for women, guidelines do not exist for men. University of North Carolina School of Medicine bone researchers are working to change that.

Susie Gharib - As the award-winning New York-based anchor of PBS' Nightly Business Report -- television's most watched evening business news program -- Susie Gharib is one of the nation's leading business news journalists.
Monty Cook, senior vice president and editor of The Baltimore Sun and baltimoresun.com, will join the School of Journalism and Mass Communication faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill April 1. He will lead an experimental digital news and audience research initiative designed to help news organizations adapt to the new media environment. The school is transforming one of its classrooms into a digital newsroom where students will produce and distribute news for a variety of audiences. The newsroom differs from digital media efforts at other universities because it will function as a research center that studies products, audiences and communities that form around the news. The flexibility to test a wide range of theories and share the results is central to the project, which is funded with a $3.5 million gift from the estate of Carolina journalism alumnus Reese Felts. Traditional content, business and distribution models will not sustain quality journalism in the future, said Jean Folkerts, dean of the school. Our challenge and Monty Cooks charge is to work with Carolinas faculty and students on experimentation and research that will light the way on a new path for the industry. The project will focus on the research and study of evolving economies for digital and traditional media industries, Cook said. Well experiment with prototypical business models and foster a greater understanding of the roles of marketing, revenue generation and brand-building ...
