University of Washington students gather by the flames of a large fire started early Tuesday morning, April 6, 2010 after a power outage in Seattle's University District. Several hundred students gathered in the intersection of 17th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 47th Street, just north of the University, and began burning couches, wood and other debris until the Seattle Police Department controlled the crowd and the Seattle Fire Department doused the flames.
On June 11, 2008, my parents decided to go on a trip to the University of Washington, which used to be my oldest sister's school in Seattle, Washington (she's an alumnus from James Campbell High School in Ewa Beach, Hawaii). At the University of Washington is facing massive budget cuts which means tuition hikes, cuts to financial aid, and overcrowded classrooms for students. It means layoffs, overwork, dangerous working conditions, furloughs, health care cuts, and union busting for workers. On March 4th we will fight back to defend our education and our jobs! Students and workers across the country and around the world will be striking on that day, responding to a call emerging from the mass movement against budget cuts in California. Activists in some California cities are even organizing to build for city-wide strikes and actions on the 4th! Here at UW we have tried rallying several times and it hasn't been enough to stop the cuts. It's time we up the ante by showing the legislators in Olympia that there will be no more business as usual on our campus as long as they try to balance the budget at our expense!

This video gives a quick overview of the 2008-2009 school year on the University of Washington's 20th FSAE team. The video shows the design, construction, unveiling and racing of the 2009 UW FSAE race car. The first 3 minutes of this video are the same as were used in the 2009 second unveiling video. The last 2 minutes show newer footage of unveiling and competition. It was filmed and compiled by Gianmarco Tartaglione, Ryan Charrier, and Sam Smith. Whencoming together in a conference there is a lot of spirit that can show peoples personalities. A way to view these different personalities is to pair schools together and have them work on a roll call together. Roll call is an important aspect in building new perspectives in each other. These are some of the recordings of Roll Calls from PACURH 2009 hosted at Western Washington University on November 13th through November 15th 2009.
