A quick clip of the 4 mile canyon fire shot from North Boulder with the sun starting to set around 6:30 pm on 9-6-10
OH MY GOD, So I went out to see the smoke and sunset and I actually saw all 3 fixed winged planes in the area. I saw Tanker 45 dump the flame retardent material on the fire and Tanker 25 head into the Smoke. I can actually see the flames too, even from what appears to be about 4 miles away. It's hard to tell due to the light and smoke, but I think it's near Sunshine Canyon Road, but I am not entirely sure, so if you live up near or on Sunshine Canyon Road, do not freak out!
The wild fire as seen from Dacono, CO. This is approximately 30 miles from the fire

Cruising 4 mile canyon on my Trek fuel ex 5.5, hope you like it!
Part 3 of Burke ID ALMOST GHOST. This is a tour of Canyon Creek the 7 mile canyon Between Wallace Idaho and Burke. I will re do this in the summer. The video is not great cause there was 3 different camera used over a 4 year period. Some look real grainy and shakey. Also they are taken during different seasons so they don't fit together. This summer I will redo the video so the production value will be better. SORRY ABOUT THE MUSIC!! Hey, copy right free is expensive so I use what I got.

Check us out at www.bcflightlines.com or call 702-293-6885 for informaton or to book! This is a must do activity for anyone living in, or traveling through the Las Vegas area.
This is my current HO scale model railroad project: The Weber Canyon. The layout is set in the west end of the Evanston Subdivision which ends in Ogden, Utah. This layout represents about 4 miles of double track that travels up and down the canyon. Visit my website for more photos of this layout at www.thesolutionfarm.com. Custom layout building inquiries welcome. Thanks for checking it out.
Hike down the Kaibab Trail. The Kaibab is a trail that extends from the top of the South Rim down to the Colorado River. It connects with the Bright Angel Trail at the bottom of the Canyon. The trail was build by the National Park Service and has very wide-open vista views - an NO water along the way. Bring your own! The change in elevation is more than a mile. It was in the 40's at the top of the trail in the morning and 110's at the bottom - in the shade! This is another set of scenes that magically seemed to match the music. Again, no video editing occurred whatsoever. The music just seemed to 'click'... especially the scene with the flying bird. Amazing. This video shows half of this hike. This music is "On the Trail" from the Grand Canyon Suite. To order this music, go to: tinyurl.com
Take a 5 minute "first person video-hike" of the 7.4 mile South Kaibab Trail from Grand Canyon's South Rim down to the Phantom Ranch. Use SK456D in SEARCH to locate the video again later. A 3 hr. 39 min. 4-DVD set of the entire trail (step-by-step in real time) is available from www.TrailVista.com.

This Northern Access road is best driven with an SUV. A car is not recommended; you will scrape bottom and may need a tire change, or new shocks when you get home. It is fairly easy going until the last mile which is very rocky and bumpy. Top off your gas tank, bring water and food, there are no services.(120mi RT) 4 wheel drive will help if you go after a rain, because there may be water on the road. The Beautiful Grand Canyon - The geology of the Grand Canyon area exposes one of the most complete sequences of rock anywhere, representing a period of nearly 2 billion years of the Earth's history in that part of North America. The major sedimentary rock layers exposed in the Grand Canyon and in the Grand Canyon National Park area range in age from 200 million to nearly 2 billion years old. Most were deposited in warm, shallow seas and near ancient, long-gone sea shores. Both marine and terrestrial sediments are represented, including fossilized sand dunes from an extinct desert. Uplift of the region started about 75 million years ago in the Laramide orogeny, a mountain-building event that is largely responsible for creating the Rocky Mountains to the east. Accelerated uplift started 17 million years ago when the Colorado Plateaus (on which the area is located) were being formed. In total these layers were uplifted an estimated 10000 feet (3000 m) which enabled the ancestral Colorado River to cut its channel into the four plateaus that constitute this area. The canyon, created by the Colorado River is 277 miles (446 km), ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles (6.4 to 29 km) and attains a depth of more than a mile (1.6 km). Nearly two billion years of the Earth's history have been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted. Wetter climates brought upon by ice ages starting 2 ...

Grand Canyn National Park, Arizona. One of Seven, Natural World wonders. Today the park receives close to 5 million visitors each year. The canyon is 288 miles long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles and attains a depth of more than a mile. This Park is a US National Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is located entirely in northern Arizona and is one of the great tourist attractions in the US. There are two ways to approach the Canyon: the remote North Rim and the more accessible (and therefore more crowded) South Rim. Both areas have several options for camping, as well as hotels and restaurants. Expect all of these facilities to be overflowing with visitors during the busy summer season. Fall, spring, and winter are all great times to visit. Las Vegas Strip is an approximately 4 mile section of Las Vegas Boulevard.

It is largely contained within the Grand Canyon National Park — one of the first national parks in the United States. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of preservation of the Grand Canyon area, and visited on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery. View from the South Rim. Longstanding scientific consensus has been that the canyon was created by the Colorado River over a six million year period. The canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles (6.4 to 29 km) and attains a depth of over a mile (1.83 km)(6000 feet). Nearly two billion years of the Earth's history have been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted. The "canyon began in the west, followed by another that formed in the east. Eventually, the two broke through and met as a single majestic rent in the earth some six million years ago. The merger apparently occurred where the river today bends to the west, in the area ...

This is one massive hole. Here's text from the current wiki: The Bingham Canyon Mine is an open-pit mining operation extracting a large porphyry copper deposit southwest of Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, in the Oquirrh Mountains. It is owned by Rio Tinto, an international mining and exploration company headquartered in the United Kingdom. The copper operations at Bingham Canyon Mine are managed through Kennecott Utah Copper Corporation which operates the mine, a concentrator plant, a smelter, and a refinery. The mine has been in production since 1906, and has resulted in the creation of a pit over 0.75 mile (1.2 km) deep, 2.5 miles (4 km) wide, and covering 1900 acres (7.7 km²). According to Kennecott, it is the world's largest man-made excavation. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966 under the name Bingham Canyon Open Pit Copper Mine.

This electrical storm stalled over our community. For about an hour we got hammered by lightning bolts. The first bolt you see actually ignited a palm tree. Towards the end of the clip, you will see a fire truck responding to the burning tree. The tree eventually died from its "injuries". The second bolt you see is on a causeway that is exactly 3/4 mile away (per GPS). I made this video from my balcony - just inside the door. During the actual strikes, I slowed the video to half speed so you get a good view of the bolt. That's why the sound cuts out just before the bolt hits. Later that morning (not in the video), another bolt hit my house and burned a hole in my roof. It blew out almost all my electronics (phones, satellite receivers, surround sound, fax machine, etc.) Insurance took care of it. The first lightning bolt hit on August 13, 2004 @ 9:27 AM Pacific time. BTW...I know the American flag should not be out in the rain...but I decided to wait to bring it down until the electrical storm had passed. That flag pole would make a nice lightning rod and I didn't think this would be a good time to stand next to the flag pole!
