Televisa presents the 5th video commemorating the bicentenary of Mexico, this time the State of Veracruz. The bicentennial of the beginning of the independence of Mexico will be held on September 16, 2010. The rights of this video belongs to Televisa. The state of Veracruz adhered to the Federal Republic of the United Mexican States on December 22, 1823, Veracruz was the entry point for Spanish conquest of Mexico. Its official name is Free and Sovereign State of Veracruz of Ignacio de la Llave.

Los Zetas han dejado de ser la organización criminal predominante de Tamaulipas, ya que han sido expulsados paulatinamente de ese territorio hacia otros estados, refirieron autoridades estatales y federales. Ahora el control está en manos del cártel del Golfo, como ocurría cuando Osiel Cárdenas Guillén estaba al frente del grupo, antes de su captura, en marzo de 2003. Para reforzar el dominio es común observar policías en unidades falsas con las siglas CDG (cártel del Golfo), cuya encomienda es evitar que sus enemigos traten de cruzar el río Pánuco que los separa de Veracruz, estado en el que se refugian. Dicha situación ha generado una oleada de ataques no sólo en Tampico, sino en Reynosa, Ciudad Victoria y Nuevo Laredo, donde aún existen refugios de zetas. Lo más extraño de esta guerra es que la población se inclina a favor del cártel del Golfo. Una vez que esta organización tenga el mando absoluto —confían— se acabarán los narcotributos que Los Zetas exigían a comerciantes, taxistas, restauranteros, que iban de 100 a 6 mil pesos por semana. Durante un recorrido efectuado por MILENIO por esa zona del país, incluidas Ciudad Madero y Altamira, los entrevistados —que prefirieron guardar el anonimato por razones de seguridad— coincidieron en lo mismo: Tamaulipas es de la maña. La violencia generada por el hampa forzó a los habitantes a cambiar su estilo de vida, pues el miedo prevalece a toda hora. No pueden hacer comentarios sobre lo que ocurre porque los halcones ...

En 1518 el capitán español Juan de Grijalva arriba al islote que llamó San Juan de Ulúa.
